Level of competition online is at an all times series low.

S rank was a joke when I stopped.playing. Every jackass and their little sister was an S or S plus. If they set it up like DOA4 then the letter next to your name would mean something again.

That's what DOA5 Ultimate needs, DOAUs online system.

It's pretty hard to be good when all your opponets do is motor boat their controllers like it's a pair of titties.

But what if motor boating the controllers is all that keeps us going? But on serious, tried rank after the creation of the topic, dont feel like going after Something Unique.

The rooms tend to be a lot better. Been coming across solid players on both the 360 & PSN that I haven't seen hide nor hair of since DOA4/DOA2U. I only do ranked if nothing is going on.

I wouldn't say that the DOA4 letter grades meant anything either, though I will agree that they meant a lot more than they do in DOA5. I never played DOA2U online though, so I can't comment on that.

I personally hope that they remove ranked and simple matches from the new DOA5 so that the already small playerbase isn't split up as much. Just make it be all lobby matches like in DOA4 (I would assume DOA2U was like that as well).

I think if you were an s and could maintain it then offline you were more than likely legit.

There were glitchers like DOAIvanKasumi who had a fake SS but by and large the people who had a single S and kept it were good offline players as well

I don't believe the notion that you have to go offline to prove your skill - every online player who's made the transition are the same players they are when on XBL/PSN. What you practice online, how you play online and your go to strategies online are more often then not what you'll fall back on when under duress offline.

So what I suggest to everyone is that when playing online always go hard, always try to counter things that are difficult to counter online, always be trying to land guarantees because when your heart is pumping and the adrenaline is coursing through your finger tips in a tournament you will fall back on the things you're comfortable doing.

I'm not expecting everyone to be good, but there was definitely more people trying in 2 and 4 online.
You have to consider that DOA has a lot more competition in the realm of online fighting games now.

Online doesn't matter anyway.
It does and it doesn't. In terms of accurately measuring skill, it doesn't. In terms of fostering a healthy community, "This game is dead" doesn't bode too well.

Good grief, really people?
Oh, online doesn't matter, competition online? lulz.
This crap pisses me right off. We're supposed to be a community, right? Do you see the online only people raggin on the offline community? Nope. Because it's 2 facets of the same game. Now, that doesn't mean that the online set-up isn't a clusterf*ck and a half, but discounting the online portion of DOA has done damage to it. Not everyone has a scene in their neck of the woods, and as most organizers can tell you, it's a lot of work to get offline tourneys up and running. So, you hope you can bump into people online that are near you, and get something set-up.
Problem is, you find that no one wants to play online because 'it doesn't matter'.
How about you stop 'the hatin' (that's what you kids say nowadays, right?), and treat both sides with respect?

No. DOA5 online means jackshit. Maybe if it had a better netcode it can mean SOMETHING(as far as healthy practice and getting more players). The game can never compare to offline. Its a completely different game online which is one of the main reasons most players are ass. They just play online all day.

I don't get why you said DOAU of all games. You could get a SS in like an hour lol.
