She looks great. Please, Team Ninja add Rachel too.
Really love how she dresses, it's like they're injecting more of her personality into her unique costumes choices like back in 2U!She looks great. Please, Team Ninja add Rachel too.

Neutral at the moment in terms of costume design ahaha, but I may enjoy it once the game is in the palm of my hands in 4 days.
Personally the biggest win for me is seeing Ayane older. Ayane was 18 in DOA6 and 15 in NG2. We've reached a point where the characters finally age to be perfectly presentable to the audience without looking weird sometimes that clashes with their initial design, and what I mean by that is that TN had a habit of making characters look like they are in their 20s or 30s, but get slapped age 18 on it (exception of Marie Rose and Honoka obviously). I know it's a Japan thing, but was hoping they could more often escape from that lololol.
Ayane being 25 is like perfect in my opinion as a design base and the look.
Yeah, so I'm not a big fan of Ayane's wine bib. I'm also not a fan of Seori's chest rope.
Oh yeah I saw that one. The wine thing could be over the top yeah, but I definitely do think the whole age 18 has gone on for far too long in my opinion.
There is a bit more positives than negatives on my end so far.
I like it - it looks like she bought that jacket from Fabric Of The Universe lolWhat do you think of her new design: @DestructionBomb @Awesmic @KasumiLover @Kasumi-Phase-X @TheIndustrialCowboy
Ryu is not the only appealing element to NG. Especially post-Itagaki. Many players don’t want to give Yakumo a chance much how people didn’t want to give Ragebound a chance because of Ryu getting a minor role. NGR ended up being a fantastic game.
Part of having a big world is to have new characters combined with what you love about what was previously explored. The storyline seemed honestly like it was well constructed and Hayabusa was and is as he should be and would act accordingly to how he would act in any other game.
The Ryu Hayabusa situation is actually vastly similar to main protagonists from other major series. When closely examined, the fanbase of that character is basically the MC Purist type. Some other character examples of it:
Kazuma Kiryu (Yakuza) <--- this one especially
Dante (Devil May Cry) <--- this one especially
Goku (Dragon Ball)
Solid Snake (Metal Gear)
Geralt of Rivia (The Witcher)
Ryu Hayabusa (Ninja Gaiden/DOA)
All these characters I mentioned are essentially the blueprint of "don't change or fix what ain't broke", and they all have one thing in common: They have a generational fanbase since the days before social media where they are the sole main protagonist. No more no less. The demographic for them is typically huge since it insists on the absolute canonical and unchanging integrity of a fictional main character. Always coming up with a major plot revolving them after every sequel or so, basically nobody can take their spot kind of thing. Personally I'm mostly the middleman of this situation where as long as the writing is good for the plot, I generally wouldn't care to notice who stays and who leaves. I would usually only replace a main character is if their story is over, or the character itself is pretty bad. They can use the character 20 times in 20 new games if they wanted, but as long as the story is good to support said character that makes sense, then I generally wouldn't care.
In Ryu Hayabusa's case for the fans I can sympathize and understand. Though... I also believe that TN genuinely does not know what to do with Ryu Hayabusa at the moment, so instead of replacing him they keep him in the sides (which is the better option at the moment in my opinion). The problem with Ryu Hayabusa is that he is so incredibly powerful that you can't just randomly come up with a plot scenario of a high powered villain that threatens the world out of the box specifically tailored to him. And if there was, the outcome would be rather typical. He's just going to pull out the Dragon Sword, slot in the jewel on the sword like it's a phone sim card, kill whatever god it is and call it a day. It'll probably too straight forward so it only makes sense that they kept him in the sidelines to make room for new characters to experiment with on a understanding threat level. Least I'd like to believe so for this.
What makes you think Team NINJA doesn't know what to do with him if you don't mind me asking?
Now I'm not debating that those characters are important, although I would say the strong majority of them have counterparts that are just as good. I've always preferred Big Boss to Solid Snake, and I don't think people would think that's an insane belief. Vegeta IMO is ten times more important than Goku and sells just as much merch as that overrated buffoon. Let's remove that option because the writers and higher-ups care about him far more than the fans do.
Solid Snake & Metal Gear Solid is now the best example when comparing Ryu Hayabusa with NINJA Gaiden IMO. Sometimes it doesn't matter what the fan thinks. Metal Gear Solid 2 was infinitely superior to Metal Gear Solid 1 and anyone with a brain knows it or that has a knack for good taste knows it. The story, graphics and methos of it was all superior to the innovative, but subpar original and they did so by making Raiden the main character.
Ryu Hayabusa already has reached the state of pretty much allowing other characters to shine and give reasonable purpose to others because his own purpose for the most part is already fulfilled as the Dragon Ninja. The writers currently stopped giving him the opportunity to do so since the stuff he does is already standard that he's been doing for the past years. They'd have to essentially come up with something sorta new for him if people want him to return as the main MC.
The character is currently in rest mode as the main protagonist from start to finish. Otherwise he'd be the main-main character again. Ryu (unlike some other characters in series out there) has not reached the point where he's retired, too old etc. He hasn't reached the end yet where his story is truly over. Unless.... NG4 provides an ending where Ryu is done done... then yeah.
There's a valid explanation for the Goku part since manga/anime is an entirely different breed and too long to write compared to the other games, most of it is even business tied for the Goku situation, and Akira Toriyama regarding his issue with some characters such as Gohan and Vegeta for why Goku is main element. Definitely a topic that's way too long to deal with lol.
Somewhat. DMC, and Yakuza are pretty much equivalent in that regard where the fanbase is generally the same, the NG one is entirely no different with Ryu Hayabusa. The MC purists call it a "Writer's Block" which means that Capcom nor RGG can come up with a good plot to allow these OG mains to be relevant as the only main character.
There is a good fair example of one. There was a panel for Yakuza years ago where Daisuke mentioned that the new main character Ichiban was created out of pure accident from old sketches and that Yakuza could of continued with Kiryu in like another 4 games where he had faith would be good (if not him, then it would be Majima again), but they just didn't know what to write for him that isn't the traditional Yakuza story that people went through for like the past 5 games before it (which kinda like Hayabusa, will reach a point where they wouldn't know what to do with him). Which is completely understandable and why having another character can fill in the blank so that the story can continue, thus giving him the written note of just having Kiryu grow old. Plus Yakuza as a society has a negative connotation behind it, and they didn't want to continue seeing Kiryu as "it's that Yakuza guy". Ichiban essentially, was the escape to getting out of that Yakuza mentality type thing.
