Actually you could eliminate the loading times with the ram carts for the CPS2/SNK games on the Saturn and more or less make them arcade perfect.
That, I can agree with. I think the PS1 had problems with 2D fighters. Case in point: The Street Fighter Collection.

This is a risky move for Nintendo that's for sure. Handhelds are their last saving grace. Trying to bring over the next big system into handheld territory could be a big mistake. Just ignoring the ability to convert from portable to the console dock (because let's face it with sub-par hardware who the hell would pick this over PS4 and X1 to play as a home console?) there are many things I dislike about it. That thing is portable but is awkwardly large (reminds me of the Wii U pad which I hated to hold). Battery life of 3 hours is going to suck especially when I can get 5-7 hours on my 3DS (3D turned off of course). I get about 2-3 hours off my Vita and I basically have to keep it charged in order to play which defeats the point of being portable.

At the end of the day the IP's will help sell it but I feel uneasy with this one.

The Nintendo Wii is proof that having the best graphics simply doesn't matter. Say what you want about it, but Jesus did that sell. Quite frankly I also thought that PS1 games looked like dog shit compared to 64 graphics... and it completely destroyed the 64 in sales. Link's flip animation in Majora's Mask looked better than anything on PS1 by a long shot.

Unless you bought a Wii, people generally buy Nintendo systems to have fun -- graphics are a great part of that, but the offline mp is what keeps me coming back. It's a lost art for PS4 and XBOX ONE. If you guys want another ten years of ugly games that look better on PC, crappy military shooters, Ass Creed, Uncharted, backwards compatibility, non-innovative JRPGS and subscription fees, don't make the switch. Have fun.

I agree with you but I dont want to pay 300 dollars just to play Zelda and Mario either. Also the Wii's success is widely considered to be cowards luck...luck thats just about out IMO.

Bringing up the success of the Wii is irrelevant when the successor console the Wii U was a failure. That is like a struggling middle age man that constantly brings up his highschool glory years as an escape from his not so glory present situation. Very different market now where a gimmick might not be enough to wow the casual audience especially in the era of mobile gaming where Pokémon Go disease exists. If the gimmick does not work and the specs are weak compared to competitors then where does that leave it? The game library but that didn't save the Wii U either despite the 1st party and 3rd party exclusives.

I guess we'll have to see if this was the right move. There's such a big disconnect between Nintendo's current handheld and console (total lifetime sales of 3DS is ~60 M units vs Wii U's ~13 M units) they figured this was probably the way to bring over the portable players.

An interesting pic that predicts the size of Switch compared to the other handhelds:

Very wide when the controls are on either side which after playing games on wide handhelds like Wii U pad and iPad I'm not a fan of (and as someone who regularly plays handhelds I would prefer the controllers attached to the screen then having them separate).

I can't see 3DS owners clamouring to Switch unless Nintendo ends up moving every single 3DS franchise to it (basically an attempt to coerce them to Switch). As a portable, the 3DS is miles more convenient and suitable for mobile gaming. The Switch is basically a small tablet with tacked on controllers leading to an oversized handheld, lacking the convenience of a 3DS, a Vita, or a smartphone (which is the main bane to mobile gaming). Switch seems like it'll work best as a console to bring with on trips somewhere, however often that is. Here's hoping that the horsepower behind the "home console" mode of the Switch is actually respectable.

One more hour... I will either be overjoyed or extremely pissed.

If it's all about Darksouls, Rayman, Skyrim and other shit I don't want to play on a Nintendo system I am betting I will be pissed. Edit: these games don't just suck on Nintendo they suck period.
