No Tag Mode Thoughts

I love Tag mode. Especially when you have friends over and play 2v2 ! But I do get that they need to focus on the main game, since they are releasing the game so soon ! But I do hope eventually it'll be patched into the game !

I love stressing the already sketchy netcode in DOA 5. Nothing better than the connection dipping or staying dipped the entire match and watching two players you could destroy solo style on you because they're used to fighting in the lag and tagging out to keep their HP up.

Offline Tag is beautiful though and would make a fun diversion during casuals where you can basically 2v2 and carry on with eachother.

The only thing I would miss from tag would be the double team throws and intro/victory poses.

I never played tag for 5 online but I remember playing 2v2 tag on DOA3 with my cousins and that was enjoyable, it was one of the few games we all had fun playing together rather than taking turns just watching one another play...

Honestly I've thought about this a lot. I guess if I want tag mode I will just play Ultimate, 4 or 5. The fighting system of 5's is good for fun insanity with friends that just want to play around... still it's too bad they are taking it out... as a lot of fun personal memories are attached to that mode for me.

I thought about this a -lot- too :ninja:. It was quite fun juggling Alpha from time to time that even Shoryuken's website put it on their front page many years ago. Good times. (Most of these work on other weights besides Alpha).

Oh, this would be nice actually. "Some" of these stages are the reasons why tag is unavailable for it.

Overall, it would be a waste to see all those work done on the intro/outs+Win poses. But to improve each player and making the game grow, they need to leave this mode out of the online setting so that people don't get the wrong idea on DOA's game approach.

maybe for e-sports sake they are developing a smash bro tag/all for one with 4 characters in the same time on screen

I think even TN is aware of the Smash Bros stigma. If DOA is the unfortunate otaku nerdy kid in the metaphorical fighting game campus, smash is the fat kid that sleeps in the back of the classroom every day.

EDIT: Not that I hate Smash or anything, sorry if that's not clear. I already have Ultimate pre-ordered for my switch lmao I'm a Samus main.

TAG should be its own serie, mainly featuring tons of original intros/outros, new special mechanics (Tag Break Blows using revamped Tag Throws animations), go back to the anime style and have its TAG mini-games (such as volleyball, funny tag challenges and casino).

Of course it would offer plenty of stages built around tag, and even classic stages reimaginated as tag arenas. Some would give access to Tag Dangerzones and Tag Cliffhangers.

A gallery would feature unlockables such as character duo fanworks, new official arts from iconic duo cutscenes from DOA1-DOA6.

The cast would be around 40+ characters and a playable Nikki should be the menu hostess of the game. The marketing should be around some meaningful tag teams (Kasumi/Ayane, Tina/Lisa, Jann Lee/Lei Fang, Leon/Bayman, Christie/Helena, Bass/Mila), with them having Special Taunts, adding more elements to their lore without necessarely having a story mode.

Provided DOA6 stays mature and cool, I would be okay if the game gets more fanservicey by having matching costumes and some bikinis, but it surely does not need to be just a Tag Mode + DOAX hybrid.

Not thinking DOA TAG could become more successful than the main game, but could be a fresh entry made for the casual fans. Add a cool duo as guests characters in this game (Akira and Ryo), and this game might actually start to seduce at least one fan in this world.

Also announced on Switch with Mario & Luigi overalls for Kasumi & Ayane (Amazon exclusive) and Peach & Daisy for Marie-Rose & Honoka (Gamestop exclusive). /o/i/o/ <@;-)

I think the big blow to tag is that it was a great mode to turn to if you got mad at your friends for too much competitive 1v1.

So like a more Western-aimed version of Xtreme mixed with a bit of Mario Party? yes. Y E S. I'd buy ngl.

Exactly. Tag might as well be it's own thing in it's own game. That way, it can be taken serious as well as having two games at the events instead of just the standard one. There's no real reason to legitimately complain about tag within the online setting eating up lobby resource anymore. Create an entirely new game for it now with better developer support. More unique dialogue, tag intro/outros, tag throws etc.

Ah interested in tag mode? then hop on DOA: Tag Edition game with a more put in effort and more features that were not present at all within the standalone 1vs1 core focused game.

Oh? not a big fan of tag? then don't buy the DOA: Tag Edition and go back to the standalone 1vs1 game.

This is genius. I really hope TN takes a good look at this & deeply considers this idea. Like seriously get a petition or some retweets FB mention something. How hard would it be to balance? Just tag with some singles mechanics. DOA Xtreme Tag sounds crazy!!! Instant day 1

I believe they'd have time to balance it if it's done in it's own game. They wouldn't have time to properly balance it on the standard considering move properties have to be changed. As well as most of the moves and refloats/relaunchers was just directly ported to tag with no consequences thoughts in mind. I'd take off the "Xtreme" tag so that peeps don't get reminded of the stigma that people use as the tool to swindle the game. Even if tag was added into solo, it still wouldn't be the standard above solo. But you could make it the standard if it becomes it's own game.

There is one element in tag (pretty underrated) that can be used for proper competitive play, which is the Blowback. You could force someone who has a low health character back into the playing field when you blowback the character protecting the 2nd low health character. Interesting that they added this mechanic move in a mode that wasn't thought out much. They could consider limiting the amount of swaps you can do within the juggle situations if weight class of higher launch remains.

If people ask enough, it could happen. So you'd see two DOA games at events instead of one. Two completely different games. One solo, one tag. More focused tag features in the tag game etc etc. Mind you that Tag is frowned upon and even I think that'd be pretty cool. Hell, I'd even play the game.

That to me seems like it would be seen too much as copying Tekken tag. While making a game dedicated to tag game can help focus development and balance, until now, tag mode was part of the games since DOA 2. It set the series apart because you can easily choose to play solo or tag any time with just one game.

Better for the team to focus on solo play balance for now then just work on making a more balanced tag mode later on in either a rerelease or DOA 7.

It's already been multiple iterations and tag is still frowned upon, even Japan players dislike tag. Adding it into the next standalone and believing it'll be balanced wouldn't do justice because you can't expect TN to balance tag when the core part of the game has always been solo.

Some of the users so far here are more basing this out of pure nostalgia rather than an improvement, and yet Kwonjigglypuff is possibly the closest one in the thread who's actually taking this into consideration. Kudos to him because I'm one of the people who doesn't give a damn what happens to tag lol and yet I mostly agree with him.

If you want tag out of pure nostalgia, should leave it in versus mode without an online setting. If people want tag to be taken serious and put more effort into it, make it it's own game. If it comes to "splitting" the community, at least a game version for it would be reasonable. You either play one or the other. Or just have it in versus mode to watch the cool intros and outros. Nothing wrong with that.

It's a super fun idea if done right. With some fun mini games, a cool casino, volleyball, gifts. That's aside from the gameplay. Add Shiden & Genra to add some spice. Tag with old outfits - DLC potential with mini-games. Definitely $$$

It's too early to say it'll bank money. By the logic going on, they might as well just add volleyball, casino and so on in the standard game.

But it does give people a safe haven without being bashed on for playing tag if TN went their way to make a game out of it.
