Finally! 2D Ninja Gaiden returns! I never thought they'd do it, I thought NG would be back in 3D sooner or later.

It's by the Blasphemous devs (never played it so no opinion there). And is that Hayate with Ryu in the animation? :O Maybe possible co-op?

Edit: Oh we play as a new guy named Kenji Mozu. I guess it's totally a spinoff then that's just using the NG name and ideas...

Since they decided to do a spinoff with original characters, I actually wish they had gone with more original designs, these guys are too similar to Ayane and Hayate, imo.

But it's interesting, they've confirmed that this game takes place during the events of the NES Ninja Gaiden trilogy, as Ryu goes abroad to avenge his father, but Kumori is from the Black Spider Clan which is part of the reboot/3D trilogy continuity. I guess they've decided to blend/merge the continuities then?

Gameplay does look sick for 2D side-scrolling ninja game, but I'd have liked a new 2D sequel that was much more obviously in line with the NES trilogy's gameplay. Maybe it really is, but I guess I won't know for sure until I can play it.

Hate to double post but, why cant I preorder this on playstation or xbox yet? Its coming up pretty quick and Id like to just have it ready to go lol

Played the demo - This is actually a very fun 2D platformer and challenging. The mechanics are cool as well. I like the idea of being able to play as two different characters simultaneously in the story. I find Kumori likable and a nice twist for being able to play as someone from the Spider Ninja Clan

Also to Steam players:

Dotemu is giving away some steam codes for people that speed run the demo. Fastest times will get codes and I don’t see a lot of entrants so now is the time to set the bar.

Almost done with the review copy of Ragebound and it's a masterclass 2D action game. Hopefully Dotemu does a trilogy of games.

BTW Steam is supposed to be 10% off at launch. The price is fair to begin with.
