All the new alt costumes in video:

Okay I'm sorry but HOLY SHIT this game is ugly -_-

3d models doing twitchy 2d sprite movements still looks awful, and all the supers look like a Looney Toons skit even more than IV did.

Although I've never seen seans sister in action before, is she a grapplerkr what?

And who the fuck thought giving Birdy a Rufus costume was a good idea?

Side note. Having Karin but not Sakura is kinda pointless since Karin is defined entirely by being Sakura's self proclaimed rival lol.

Now you are exaggerating. :/ It's not an ugly game at all. Just the PS4 version inexplicably suffers from some technical problems (shadow dithering and some muddy background textures). The animations and the super look good as well. You should really take a look at KoFXIV...those animations are stiff and janky.

Yep, some of the alts look really uninspired... Still better than the crazy SF/V ones though imho.

Its not ugly for technical reasons its ugly because of art direction.

Like I said the goofy/cartoony supers put me off, as well as the beastly proportions and jerky animations outside of supers.

And what the fuxk is with Zangiefs Tazmanian Devil spin?! His head goes all Excorsist!

I like that the breast jiggle "bug" on vs screen is still in.

They can tell me what they want...I'm pretty sure that "bug" was purpously planted there to test the fans' reactions, and if the fans approved of it, to catch up to basically all the other fighting games out there in breast jiggle. I really think in the end they will be like: "Oh, there was this stupid, inexplicably persistent glitch, that we just left in (or you can turn it on the options) because fans actually liked it, tehe! ^__~"
As much as DOA is sneered at in the "serious" fighting game community, I'm sure the developers and companies noticed how the sexy stuff of DOA is selling like hot cakes.

And to be honest, the overexaggerated jiggling perfectly matches the overexaggerated art style.

As I've pointed out before, Street Fighter's art style is something that it's had since the 90s. It's especially prominent here since it seems that the art is based on Bengus' work.

It's more of the graphical presentation that's the problem, not the artstyle itself. And I do agree with Russian and Argentus at that front in that while it's better than SFIV personally, it still is pretty bad even by 2D standards overall.

And in my oppinion it is ugly (well not really ugly but kinda unattractive at times) for the exact opposite reason: Art style is great, tech is meh. The execution of the art design is severely lacking. Street Fighter V shouldn't really bring the PS4 or the PC to their limits. It's just badly optimized and rushed. :/

can i just say i hate the way levels are faded out as well? i never would have thought id compare SF to MK and say "wow look at how more vibrant MK is"

They very likely did this to better differentiate foreground and characters with the background. In MKX you can work much more effectively with contrasting lighting and other effects (fog, depth of field blur etc.) to highlight the characters, the Street Fighter 4 comic art style features however much more flatter, less 3dimensional lighting and limited post processing effects, so you can't really do it this way. The obvious and most effective way to reach more contrast of characters and background is fading the backgrounds out and making them more pastel-ish. It's similar to the hand painted look of Guilty Gear's backgrounds opposed to the cel shaded characters in the foreground, which perfectly emulates Japanese anime.
