Take a Stand, or Something

Ok guys, not many of you really know me I am sure. I have been playing DOA for a long time, but am definitely more of a casual player than a pro. I have sank countless hours into DOA and money. But what I'm about to talk about, money isn't the issue. Part of it, but not the main issue.

DOA5LR is on the horizon but there is still one major concern for me. Why in the world am I going to have to repurchase all my DLC from my 360 version to be able to enjoy it on the PS4? This isn't a matter of not having the money, this is a matter of ethics and morals in the game developing scene.

I have been a huge fan of DOA for a long time, but this is really not cool to me. At first, I had to stomach 2 bucks per outfit. I wasn't ok with it, but I was dealing with it. Cause, you know, gotta have my Hitomi outfits, right? Then the beach towels came. My mind was blown. You are telling me you want 2 bucks for -this-? Maybe I'm not pervy enough to appreciate it, or maybe I am just level minded enough to see the ridiculousness behind it.

Now with DOA5LR coming out, we get the 3 new characters but if you jumped ship on the new gen and went from PS3 to Xbone or vice versa, you're outta luck buddy. Doesn't matter if you spent 4 bucks or 400 bucks on your outfit library. They are lost to you now. And what happens when they close servers for the last gen, because that is gonna happen sooner or later. Then you are really SOL buddy.

I am and will forever be a DOA fan. But I refuse to pour my money and dedication into a game who's designers think it's fans foolish enough to continue to support their current business model. With this being said, I am starting a petition. This petition has one goal, give us the DLC many of us have already bought. Until this happens, I will not buy a copy of LR from retail.

Everyone is free to their own opinion, and I will respect every one of yours. Be respectful, sign if you want, if not then ok. But don't flame about it. Thanks guys.

You are completely justified in being upset but your anger is misplaced. Xbox Live Marketplace and Playstation Network don't talk to each other and there isn't anything Team Ninja can exactly do about that.

I would personally prefer that Team Ninja just include all the DLC up to date on the disc for everyone to enjoy. That is entirely within their abilities but isn't happening. I'm sure it's because they're afraid to upset the people who have already purchased DLC previously but I feel like this is the second time they're re-releasing the game in some form and it already feels like a cash-grab so just treat it like a "game of the year" edition and give everyone everything so we're on equal footing and call it a day.

Agreed, most of my dlc was purchased for PS3, however I have a xbox one and planning to buy DOA5: LR for it. You're being told you're just S.O.L and it's not cool. For some of us it'll be the third time buying the game, maybe more if you got DOA5 and 5U for both consoles. If I can't get all the DLC I bought on next gen then it'll be a waste and I will not want the game. There's plenty other hardcore fighters coming out in 2015 and I can kick it off next week with P4U2

Honestly not an issue for me
I only use two characters and by now I've filtered through the dlc costumes enough that I know which ones I would actually use. So with last round, I'll only pick up those few costumes I actually ever wear

I wonder if the general public would be okay with DLC being included on the disc, but it'd be hella hard to unlock on its own and you could buy unlock keys for them through the normal means.

No quams here as I have nothing DLC related. For me, yeah, I usually wait if some type of "Edition" releases that has everything, but ...

The DLC isn't worth anything - outside of RPGs, but even when you get just weapons or whatever, that shit is messed up! It really does give one a bad case of "buyers" remorse. I got Injustice - Ultimate Edition, which I tried one character first, but stuck with one who was on the main roster already.

But DOA DLC, they need to do much, much, more than costumes! Any one character alone has more than my main and certainly they can come up with some creative ideas to clothe her. (Didn't she get called the naked Kasumi - before the nude Kasumi patch? And we know that got tons of flack)

Anyway, the DLC practice in general is asinine. Yet, TN just like other companies devs are trying to get everyone to get a next-gen system. Thus, the "incentives," (Soft Skin/More bounce in their "steps") Someone put up the SBS of TR13 and most were like "more coats of paint?" The "particle effects," really? And of course, 720/1080. Aren't we up to 1440 or better now?

Geez, that's like saying, you'll need a brand new top of the line computer just to experience the ever so subtle changes in Win8.11 from 8.1. That is retarded!!

You should be angry at yourself for buying all that DLC and supporting these BS business practices in the first place. I'll be honest I had a couple moments of weakness too but in 2 years I've only bought $12 worth of DLC, so nothing lost here

Team Ninja is just taking a class on "success" from Capcom. I, personally, won't be purchasing the title all together, as not only I don't support rehashing of games, but the fact that...well...DOA5 really doesn't need to be ported over to the next gen. I honestly don't understand why TN is starting the process to milk DOA5, compared to 2 or 4, it's not even that amazing (IMO, of course).

The game shares the same main title, but being for a next gen system I don't really expect transfers in DLC between generations. I thought every iteration of DOA5 would progressively include more and more DLC as evident with ultimate although there were a ton of outfits that were missed, so I can see your frustration in repurchases.

This gets into the cross gen argument, but yeah, unless they're buying some more time to develop DOA6. The only real update (imo) was Vanilla to Ultimate *shrugs*

Microsoft has a closed network policy. That means even if Team Ninja wanted to transfer already-purchased DLC across markets, they couldn't.

Basically, while I understand your frustration, this is pretty much entirely your fault. If you wanted to keep your Sony based digital content you should have gone Sony. If you wanted to keep your Microsoft based content you should have gone Microsoft. Team Ninja is indeed unlocking a lot of that DLC right off the bat however, so wait and see.

But you shouldn't be making unrealistic demands out of Team Ninja, especially when they went out of their way to make sure DLC carried over from the previous gen. You're the one who switched teams, that's completely on you.

You don't see me striking up a petition because my Bayman Casual C12 doesn't carry over to the 360. A little self responsibility has to be taken regarding your own purchases.

All I know is that when I get last round, all I'm getting is Leons legacy outfit, then the bed and sports and MAYBE schoolgirl dlc for Mila.

I've had vanilla and ultimates lifespan to figure out which outfits I actually use after getting them. So I'm only regretting the ones I actually wound up using.

I'm buying Jann Lee's, Zack's (Again because PS4. I'm willing to spend £1.75 again, no biggie), Hayabusa and Bass' Legacies. These are the ones for me.

You don't. If you want the costumes, of course you have to buy them. You're expecting to buy DLC for a game and still have it for another installment? I don't see any logical reason why you would think that.

If you're not okay with it, then why are you buying them? You're saying "I was dealing with it" like it's a hard thing to do. I haven't bought any costumes ever because I find them way too expensive. Don't want it, don't buy it. If you want it, buy it.

Now with DOA5LR coming out, we get the 3 new characters but if you jumped ship on the new gen and went from PS3 to Xbone or vice versa, you're outta luck buddy. They're not lost. You still have them on the game you bought them for. Are you really expecting to buy a new game (that's on a different console) and have DLC that you bought for another game?

I am and will forever be a DOA fan. But I refuse to pour my money and dedication into a game who's designers think it's fans foolish enough to continue to support their current business model. Then don't pour money into the game.
