Why the hell should I support a shitty fighter? If this game end up sucking, it doesn't deserve respect. It doesn't deserve to be supported. The developers reap what they sow. Those 10 JP players influencing the decisons are more important to Team Ninja than anybody on this site.
If the game ends up bad, it deserves to crash and burn in the competitive scene. The developers have had every opportunity to make the game better. Indeed, at e3, it looked like it was on that path. What we hear now is that all of these options are removed or nerfed. If I support the game and go to tournaments for a game I think is shitty, I'm only supporting Team Ninja's backward fighting game balance decisions and telling them I think it's okay.
Screw that noise.
Man, there's so much wrong with that post. Don't get caught up in how well it plays? That's THE ONLY THING anybody should care about. This site is for competitive players. If you don't care about that, you have a different outlook on the game than most people here, and you really shouldn't be telling anybody who cares about tournaments to support the game even if it doesn't turn out well.
Well I guess it comes down whether your a DOA fan or just a highly competitive player that likes to play DOA. Having a balanced game with great game play mechanics is all that is needed to allow a game to be played at a competitive level. I hate to bring this up but the DOA high level offline community and those who wish to play it at a competitive level is very small. Even the competitive players who go to major tournaments in other fighting game communities only make up a fraction of the overall fan base of their respective games.
All I'm saying is that the DOA community at this time should support a really great looking new game coming out. Some players needs to stop bitching and start playing. If you do not like DOA5 then that's fine. There are other fighting games out there for you to play. All I hear from the whining of a handful of respected DOA players is
"characters are getting nerfed" "this character can't do that" "the game needs to do this" "the stun system needs to get fixed"
All this junk is being said and the game isn't even out yet. About a few weeks ago I watched the DOA Summer jam tourny vids and I thought the game looked good and played well. I feel the high level community sometimes needs to take their head out their own ass and look at the big picture. Not every fighting game produced is created to please you. It took 7 yrs for a new DOA fighting game to come out and a handful of players who are respected in the community are dumping on it before its released. The DOA competitive community is so small that even if a small bunch of well known players hate on it then other fighting game communities are going to say "well DOA's own high level players feel the game is shitty so the game must be shitty" . And the game isn't even out yet.
You think the developers really care about pissing off you or a handful high level players?DOA has sold millions world wide. Yet we only probably got maybe about 50 to 100 high level players offline and online that are well known within the community.
If DOA5 crash and burns in the competitive scene its fault lies with the community and not the game. If players can and will support a busted ass game like MVC2 then why can't the DOA community come together as a whole community offline and online to play and support DOA5.
I am a DOA fan and have been supporting the series since playing the first game at a hole in the wall arcade here in Cali. If you don't want to support the game because it isn't tailored to suit your view of what it should play like then stop supporting the series. The DOA community doesn't need your support if your just going to bitch and moan about the game and give it bad press before it comes out. I own and play every DOA game.I prefer playing some DOA games over other games in the series. But I still support the series because I love it. You should always expect changes to be made.I choose to adapt to those changes.
Now if DOA started eliminating some of my favorite characters and it ended up playing like Tekken then I will stop supporting the series. But until that day I will support the DOA series.
What?You can't read?
