Tekken

What do you guys think of this trend in fighting games to try actually tell a story as opposed to vaguely referencing it? I like it, because a lot of fighters do have interesting lore and characters but they weren't properly utilized. Seems to me that MK9 kickstarted the idea, and I'm glad for it. I know some people don't like it, because they'd prefer that each character gets their own arcade ending, but I think it's better this way (plus, as Jade said, you could have both like MK but it seems like others are too lazy to do that). It's become clear that fighting games can have a good story, and being a fighter is no longer a good excuse for not having one. I'm glad Tekken 7 went with it too.

I like a story, but I'm not big on it. I prefer story mode individual prologue and epilogue like previous Tekkens. One big story just makes the game feel barren and desolate imo after you complete it.

Yeah I'm really happy that fighting games are going in that direction and I'd agree that MK9 kick started the idea. Back when I first played Soul Calibur I had almost no clue what any of the characters histories or goals were because It was so vague. But yeah I definitely prefer when they have both a story mode and arcade endings.

Okay, so there are more details on Tekken 7's Story Mode.

  • Kid Kazuya is playable only in story mode
  • Claudio will play an important role since he holds the key to defeating the Devil Gene. Also worth noting is that his organization of exorcists were planning to merge with the Mishima Zaibatsu.
  • Story mode will also unlock sub plots

I hope the sub plots are like Lili and Asuka's rivalry and stuff. That is gonna be great. Then even if there isn't arcade endings different characters will have there own parts.

Asuka being a Kazama and having the power to hold back the Devil Gene like Jun did will probably be a big part of the story.

Not to mention, Jun will probably have a role as well wether its playable or non playable

There may be reasons why Kid Kazuya is only available in story mode. Think of Yoda in Soul Calibur where the character gets banned because of height differences and hitbox scenarios. A character shouldn't be allowed for use if you can avoid a jab just by standing still. Common sense added with comprehension is justification here to be fair.

.....Lili, BEHIND Asuka?? That's a mistake XD And of course Bryan is most popular, fast, mobile, and powerful. I dislike him so much, especially in that dumb win pose where he PUNCHES Lili relentlessly....

These are 'Weekly' arcade usage in "one" venue. There are also monthly ones as well. Weekly changes drastically. The week before that one was full of Devil Jin, Bob, and Bryan. It's random factors of numbers with which players appear maining those characters join, not because of actual character popularity. It's the lack of players participating to play them.

It just so happens that the Shaheen players didn't show up for the week considering he's a top 10 character in tiers.

You mustn't buy Tekken 7 by the way, Jade. °___°

It was meant to sound serious. Did °___° make it more serious? XD
Without Tekken 7 we would long have a Soul Calibur 6. It is Tekken 7 that is holding it back. We must not condone and even support that. So we both won't be buying that game. :)

This might be a blessing in disguise. SCV was rushed due to having to make room for Tag 2 (on top of the stupid decisions Daishi made). It's likely that SCVI won't be rushed for Tekken 7, and since Hoshino will likely make better decisions than Daishi, we'll have a much better game.

The fact of the matter is that it's a possibility for the game. SC series isn't a disclosure here. Not for a long shot anyway.
Yeah, I'm still buying Tekken, they're gonna hold back SC anyways, might as well bite the bullet, not buying it won't unfortunately do anything for them, there's millions of fans.

Lol yeah the staring face made it more serious! Like Nyte said though this means it will have lots of time to get every little thing in SC6 done.
