Nyo Tengu, Phase 4 XMB Avatar are out now on Japanese/Asian PSN
On Japanese and Asian PSN, they are out now.
Note, avatar won't work on your other PSN account, it only works on the account where you bought them.

I believe that this is the usual standard for the Playstation: DLC (even if this is not properly an addition of the game) are region locked and the games region free; on Xbox is exactly the opposite.

I truly love the avatars for Nyotengu and Phase-4, a shame that they will aren't for Xbox users... -_-

------------------------------

On a completely unrelated and random note but perfect for the casual thread, I've to express my love for a little detail in the series, the right "lowered eyebrown" of Rig and his consequent eye slighty narrowed XD I know that is silly, but I truly love this characteristic of his appearence, this is in my opinion a really nice and smart idea for a design and everytime I see Rig I can't not focus my attention on it. More, I love like there is a little untold background for it: similar problems can happen for congenital or acquired causes as physical trauma, and very likely is not a coincidence that the same right eyebrown present the traces of a scar from an accident - who knows how happened - that maybe could have left this legacy to Rig.

What bugs me is that such element seems to not always be constant, sometimes is really evident:

Other ones less even if still present:

Other ones seems not visible at all:

However a simple explanation could be that the paralysis of the eyebrown is just partial - and indeed from the intro/ending poses seem to me that Rig is able to move it - so this mean just that relaxing the facial muscles it appear lowered, but not that Rig isn't able at all to assume a different expression naturally lifting it.

A so much doge argument, I know it XD But I love to talk of fictional characters analyzing them in realistic ways like this (where and when possible).

A different case would have been with the closure of the DoA5U roster without getting Ein, Leon or Bankotsubo or replacements for them: nothing would have assured their future presence in the series and luckily they got a late place in the game even if with a substitute for Bankotsubo (so hoping that this means that they will not cut again Ein and Leon in the next game now that they know that there are fans of them out there).

It's a pretty safe bet that TN won't ever be cutting Ein, or especially Leon again, and that they'll never cut Nyotengu.

The only exception to this is if they make a DOA crossover game with another fighting franchise. They obviously wouldn't put every DOA character in that particular title because they have to fill half that roster with some of the other game's cast.

As a result, I definitely see Ein getting dropped in favor of Hitomi. I don't see Nyotengu making the cut either, due to her new presence and much smaller fanbase compared to series veterans. Not sure about Leon. I'm positive that either he or Bayman will make the cut, but probably not both, and I don't know which one they'd pick.

Needless to say, I never want to see a DOA crossover.

Rig is starting to grow on me, his fighting style is conceptually effective.
Hopefully the next installment will bring a better costume selection, more spectacular kicks and more tag moves : Christie (Team KickzFistz), Lisa (Team Evil), Helena (Team Heirs).

:rig:

I have a naïve question : are people using Jacky ?

I agree, indeed in my post I never mentioned Nyotengu as possible candidate to the cut XD Sadly the only one truly risking it is the apparently unpopular between the fans and developers Alpha-152 (that even if not maining, I really like and find extremely funny to use) :(

The only exception to this is if they make a DOA crossover game with another fighting franchise. They obviously wouldn't put every DOA character in that particular title because they have to fill half that roster with some of the other game's cast.

I agree that very likely we couldn't see Ein, however not understimate Nyotengu: look to Marie Rose, she is a last entry in the game but honestly you could surely say that she couldn't be present in a crossover tied to her extreme popularity gained from the time of her appaerence? In the same way I believe that Nyotengu has all the elements for becoming an equal popular character in Japan and overseas.

If something what could go against them is that they are new presences in the series like you said (so with a natural secondary prioority compared to the veterans able to make more recognizable the series in the crossover). I don't consider the factor of Nyotengu not being a representative of a true fighting style because a similar title would see necessarily the presence in the game of the iconic Kasumi and Ryu and their impossible movesets.

Said this, even if of course characters would be righly cut (with Ein being the first on the list like you said), I would be anyway truly eager to get a such title like nice parenthesis waiting for DoA6 ;)

im not so sure Bayman will even make the cut to DOA6

Bayman is a veteran of the series from DoA1, involved in the main plotline of the series and passed from replaced (in DoA2) to replacement (in DoA5): honestly I don't see how you could be worried for his fate.

If there is a veteran that could be replaced this is only Gen Fu, considering how he doesn't seems to be popular (overall being an old man in a game where female beauties are the most popular characters), the story in the past 2 games put him in background and now his final line in DoA5 could potentially hint to him passing his moveset to Eliot.

I really hope that his veteran statuas and overall the series of astonishing successes of SweetRevenge that brought the attention of all DoA players interested to the competitive scene on this character, will be able to assure to him a slot in the next game. I just lost my temporarily my secondary character Ein and this was more than enough for making understand what mean to lose a main or favourite character (indipendently from the fact that I like all the roster of DoA and I'm personally fond of Gen Fu).

Alpha is as good as gone for DOA6

-Dead boss character
-Unpopular and has a extremely small fanbase
-The only character in DOA5 roster who hasn't gotten any DLC at all so TN obviously feels shes not profitable
-Phase 4 being added to the roster as the new official kasumi clone while offering TN dlc profits

I don't understand why they want to replace Gen Fu with Eliot. He is unique and they should just refresh his moveset a bit. It's nice to have an old fart in the cast... I don't mind him not having a chapter in Story Mode, because there is not much to say (well.. Donovan could still kidnap Mei Lin..) but still..

I can see him having the one inch punch (with an unique stun) for instance.

And make his "air throw" useful.

-...yeah. However, Alpha sees a lot of tournament play, which is a source of income and publicity as well.
-For some reason I see Phase 4 getting cut as well.

And she better not get cut lest TN incur my wrath. At the very least at least make Phase 4 stay.
For some reason I see Phase 4 getting cut as well.

Phase-4 isn't going anywhere since she's clearly going to be relevant in the next game's story.

-Ein's "dead" and he was brought back.

True, but there was large demand for his return.

As for Alpha-152:

Alpha is as good as gone for DOA6

-Dead boss character
-Unpopular and has a extremely small fanbase
-The only character in DOA5 roster who hasn't gotten any DLC at all so TN obviously feels shes not profitable

^Pretty much all of that.
