^^^I\ve noticed that too. If you use photo mode and look at a lot of the form fitting costumes you're bound to find a ton. I have high hopes for PS4 and Xbox One version of games now after watching the NBA 2k14 trailers for both current and next gen. I can just imagine how DOA6 could look.

I'm not so sure, that the guys are modeled that poorly because of the PS3's or 360's limitations...
The game has to be able, to render at least 3 characters at the same time (during a tag throw or switch), right? But if the game manages to render 3 of the girls at the same time in their bikinis or their sometimes highly detailed dresses, there is no reason to skimp on the guy's character models. The game should be just as easily able, to run 3 highly detailed guys as well. I think, Team Ninja is just being lazy in that regard.

The more characters you add to a game, the less time you will have to individually and carefully customize them.

Either you go the way of rehashing (same model over and over with a bit of differences here and there) or you create less accurate models. There's no escaping.

That's one of the reasons why over the years I re-evaluated the number of characters as a "pro" into a game.
15 years ago I was dreaming of BEUs with 30, 40 characters and the idea made me drool.
Now I welcome with open arm a BEU with a more honest number of character, which puts the focus on each and every one of them, without bending 90° in front of the media to promote the game with sentences like "OMG over 9000 characters!!!!111!1one!".

I don't know...instead of reusing the same blocky character model for most of the guys (except Bass, Genfu and Eliot obviously), they could have reused one nicely modeled character model. It doesn't make complete sense to me yet, why the male cast is so poorly rendered.

Look at Soul Calibur 5. The male bodies are pretty well rendered there and you can change the bodies with sliders to create completely different body types yourself. I, as a player, can create 10 guys, with 10 completely different bodies, in 10 minutes there. Team Ninja can't?

Okay, this has been bothering me for awhile but. Beat 'em ups are a different genre from fighting games.

These are beat 'em ups.

Fighting games are a different genre altogether.

LOL!! XD

It's as if these were screenshots from two different games of two different console generations.

TN is giving more care and attention to the females?

w-what?I never noticed!

Of course we all have noticed. And more attention and care for the girls is okay with me. But don't you too think, it goes a bit too far, if the guys suddenly look like early PS2 models compared to the beautifully rendered girls? I just ask for little moderation...

the fighters packs was a cheap dlc they did, if you compare the other male models (costumes) you can see a lot more detail than that.i guess they were not expecting to sell a lot with that dlc...no ( . )( . ) no $ xD
I miss the good old days when the ninjas were just atletic and were not on steroids, its like they all wanna be bayman/leon now

I call these "Scrolling BEUs".
And I call DoA a "3D 1 vs 1 BEU".
I call them both "Fighting Games" too if I want to be more generic.

Agree to disagree?

The ninjas are still athletic looking. The male ninjas and non wrestlers in this game have quite lean athletic builds. They could all hit the gym a little bit more... especially jann lee imo. Ryu seems to be toned down vs his ninja gaiden renders

Ryu was leanest in DOA1-3. He bulked up a bit for NG and a bunch for NG3. His LBF outfit in DOA5 actually has thicker arms than his fighter one, so in this game it's sorta random (probably because they share body models among the males with a few generic builds and then just swap the head/skin tone out of laziness).

Of course we all have noticed. And more attention and care for the girls is okay with me.
You are more forgiving than I am.
(I said that in my best Darth Vader voice mimicking his line about the Emperor from Episode VI)
