As stereotypical as they are featured in most games, I'll take tough/wise/old/attractive male and classy 20+ female over a kawaii girl any time of the day. Kawaii girls are just sickeningly sweet that it's so repulsive... Like a sugar-puking kitten who ate a poisoned cupcake kind of sweet. Ugh. :/

Different strokes for different folks I guess, I have always been fond of the cute female characters, yeah "SOME" of them might have high pitched and possibly even annoying voices, but it's just another thing that makes them them. Plus it's always fun to see cute video game females, well for me (and many others) of course. Maybe it's the fact that I love anime and have even started watching shows like Sailor Moon, Tokyo Mew Mew, Senran Kagura, Love Ru, Negima, ect that made me grown to like it :)

But my #1 favorite archetype is oujo sama's. Karin from Street fighter, Lili from Tekken, and Rachel from Blazblue are examplesof what one is. Which reminds me, DOA needs one in the future.

I'd just like to take this opportunity to point out something fascinating I've noticed. A lot of the time, the actors (especially in DOA5/5U) seem to get blamed for things that are more than likely not their fault. Lei Fang and Hayabusa's English voices are pretty big examples of this, I think.

I think it's the Lei Fang wasn't always like that in English. Her English VA in DOA2 and DOAX2/DOAP was less high pitched and more of just your regular teen girl. I thinks that's what annoys people.

They don't need to wait for one in the future. Helena has always been the oujo-sama archetype of DOA and she has always looked better than all 3 of them by appearance.

I watched all 200 episodes of Sailor Moon during childhood and it had always made me cringe when an Moon/Chibimoon or any of the inners screams from an attack.

When it comes to kawaii female characters, I'm kinda on the fence of them.

I don't like how some of them do have those voices (Misa from Death Note is a good example), but I do like how they can come in so many varieties. There is the normal kawaii, the childish kawaii, the shy kawaii, the elegant kawaii, the silly kawaii, the gothic kawaii, and more. You can even have a kawaii girl.... who is a villian or sadistic.

Some of you may not know this, but real Japanese girls to tend to sound (and even act) like the kawaii girls we see in anime's. And since majority of fighting games (or all games for that matter) come from Japan and since those type of characters tend to become fan favorites, it's quite reasonable to why they are so many of these characters in games.

Majority of games from the US or Europe don't have those type of characters since they aren't necessarily part of western culture (that and since majority of are games are either sports games, shooters, or games with male leads or are male dominated/sausage fested). And even then, games like Skullgirls exist.

Yeah Helena is rich and elegant and all, but she isn't stuck up. Hmm.... maybe she doesn't have to be the elegant european inspired girl, maybe she could be a valley girl you'd see on The Hills or Mean Girls or something

And like MB said, they sound like that because it's a way most japanese girls sound like. Maybe not like female.characters who are 12-, but those who are like 13-20.

Funny thing is they along with Mars were my top 3 favs.

Speaking of Sailor Uranus, I actually think it would be cool if we gotten a more female character like her in DOA. A female who is the perfect blend of masculine and femine (for a character like Sailor Uranus that is)

I don't think there is a need to replicate something that is already in the game. The closest person to a valley girl is Tina simply because of her glamour girl occupations.

Mila and Christie.
