I'm liking that box art a lot more now that I noticed two things.
1) Leon is wearing his "Hitman" alt costume, instead of his desert turban default.
2) Mila and Leon are side by side, and seem to be interacting. Mila looks like she's trying to furiously attack Leon, but he just don't give a fuck. "NOTICE ME, OLD MAN!" "No." This just reinforced my theories on those two's relationship.
lol. was gonna say "well they can't have two of the same character" but then I realized Hayate's not on the cover, either!

I doubt it. Kasumi's not underage anymore.
But I really hope they do change the cover.
Preferably to just Mila and Leon's side by side poses from this cover. I'm sorry, but that is just priceless.

That cover is way too cluttered. Sometimes less is more. Then again sometimes less is ironically less..
You can make an argument how this placeholder cover was appealing because how "symbolic" it was, but it needed more content to let consumers know from a first impression the game was a fighter.
What kind of game this is? A fighter? An Rpg? Erotic simulation?

But what are you fighting? People? Your inner demons? Not trying to get an orgasm too early during foreplay? These are all serious questions people will ask themselves when they see a vague cover like this that lacks substance.
Not sure showing an ensemble cast of supermodels and spandex ninjas would really be more indicative of the gameplay, though.

That's pretty much self explanatory right there. Supermodels and ninjas, fighting.
That said, I still hate the 5 and 5u covers.

True, but thats because the execution was off and they overdid it by cramming too many characters. Feels like a cramped elevator.
Not sure if the yellow hurts the cover, but I doubt it helped.
I think a compromise(Too much vs Too little) between looking visually appealing to new potential buyers(Including the people who already bought vanilla DoA 5) and promoting the game effectively is achievable by showing 7 characters (as opposed to the previous 13) on the front cover.
Those characters should be Kasumi (DoA series main heroine), Ryu Hayabusa (Popular Ninja Gaiden Series main hero/DoA veteran) focused in the foreground while the other 5 are the new additions are focused in the background (Momiji, Leon, Ein, Jacky Bryant, and Rachel).
Kasumi and Hayabusa would be in fighting pose facing forward because they are the series iconic characters. Four of the new characters in the background instead would face each in fighting pose sideways. Two on the left side and two on the right side (Ein vs Jacky because of sharing a reveal trailer, Momiji vs Rachel because of Ninja Gaiden immigrants).
Leon instead would not be on the side like the other four characters in fighting pose, but instead is just folding his arms with his back facing the cover in the middle because he is that much of a badass.
A few more characters, doesn't matter who, would go in the back cover since the front cover is more important as promotional box art then the back cover. People generally look in the back cover for a game summary and a list of important features (They should really highlighting the new additions like team battle mode, survival, updated tag, etc.) on the game.
That way it would give a good first impression to impulse buyers who don't follow the game on the internet and people who bought vanilla DoA 5 that sees the cover focus more on these new additions which would lean them more towards justifying the purchase of this updated game.
No yellow of course.
I should probably make a mock cover of this idea whenever I'm bored and have time.
