And the whole 18 issue, did people really believe Team Ninja would reveal a loli looking girl and actually make her underaged?
It isn't that hard to believe. Look at the Tekken series and how they portray their underage girls. No one's bitching about Lili who was initially 16 in Tekken 5. And let's not even go there with Soul Calibur and Amy...

But yeah I did laugh at the Swedish nationality part. XD

Oh yeah that's true. I forgot Tekken had underage girls. I have no idea how I forgot SC had a few lol...

Anyway, this IS DOA though. People don't need a lot of reason to hate the series especially with the permanent stain that was left from DOAX.

"No one"? "NO ONE"?

I'll have you know I've done my fair amount of bitching about Lili. I bitched about the fact she was holding back Asuka's potential for an important role in the Tekken story. I bitched about the fact she wasn't more aggressive about her romantic feelings toward Asuka so they can just go ahead, make out, please the horny teen fanbase, and get it over with. And I also bitched about the fact her mom has yet to be talked about, as if she doesn't exist. And I'll continue to bitch if this rumored CGI movie that involves her 18th birthday (and is supposedly canon) ends up never happening.

As for Amy... fuck her, she's gone now. There is only Viola, all's right with the world.

I'm happy about these expert holds. I know it doesn't necessarely mean her fighting style will be very complex, but I think they worked more on her movelist than on Rachel's for instance.

Still wondering why Helena got so much screen time on this trailer... oh wait, that's because she is the best.
Well, good night then!

Were there any changes for Helena like new moves or buffs?

Oh God, Ryona videos, fetish CG art & slow-moving, angle-panning gravure videos incoming.

Honestly though? They had me at this:

What a evil little brat this one's going to be haha! As far as appearance goes though, she lacks blue hair imo. DoA needs a fighter with blue hair & the Lolita-Goth here would have fit the bill nicely i reckon.

My weird fascination for blue hair aside though, I always enjoy the balletic, poetic, dainty types in fighting games. Tekken's snobby Lili & Lolita-Goth, girl-with-a-secret type: Amy Sorel from SCIV were an absolute pleasure to fight with imo so i will definitely be keeping a twitchy bloodshot eye on Marie Rose & her gameplay videos when they eventually show up. You gotta love anime characters in over-sized boots

Rachel Alucard has gone 3D & i must admit, I am pretty damn pumped but at the same time still saddened by Tengu's absence which i fear will be forever now :(

Seriously? they're trying to pass that as 18? she's 16 at best, not fooling anyone.

But if this means there's a chance of her coming to western consoles now whatever I'll look past it, And I think I'm mostly alone in thinking that the one move they showed looks stupid Idk what it is it just really bothers me well, atleast I now know I won't have any intentions of picking this character up.

Also, she sounds alot more rougher than I thought she would I thought she'd have the generic high pitched Loli voice but I guess to go with the 18 thing they made her sound deeper and darker. Almost has an arrogant personality feel in her voice.

I posted this in the Marie Rose thread, but might as well post it here, too. Here's what I translated her bio as.

-"Little" Devil Servant-
"Although she has the appearance of a servant, this young girl's background is shrouded in mystery. Contrary to her petite build and lovely dress, she is quite adept at the military fighting style "Systema". What truths lie behind that devilish, little smile of hers...?"

-Fighting Style-
"A fighting art that has no rigid stance and emphasizes fluidity. In addition to these particular strength-reversing movements that leave an opponent's attack powerless, she employs tricky attacks that make the most of her small stature."

So, she's probably going to be relatively dark in the end.

Donovan: Damn it Christie why did you tell Helena you were going to assassinate her?
Christie: Whatevs motherf***** I'm Christie b****
Donovan: Now I need to find another assassin but not a butler again b/c that would be too obvious.
Christie: How about a maid? (sarcasm)
Donovan: BRILLIANT!
Christie: I work for the dumbest jackass. FML

In all honesty, Mary Rose just makes me think of Kasumi Alpha.

She could probably be the remains of what Kasumi Alpha was after Helena defeated her, like a collection of memories and mannerism before she went through the final stage of Project Alpha. Then MIST brainwashed a little Swedish girl who utilizes the Systema fighting style by infusing Kasumi Alpha's memories and mannerism in her.

Donovan: Damn it Christie why did you tell Helena you were going to assassinate her?
Christie: Whatevs motherf***** I'm Christie b****

I think her alliance will be on neutral by DOA6. She already kicked a chair after Donovan's orders in the story and went bar-hopping all throughout by telling everyone that she needs a real man.

From the words of her bio, I also think that in the end Mary Rose will be a character with a partial dark side (but not a sadistic girl like some people was hoping XD).

They said DOA5UA would have a new character. As in singular, not multiple new characters.

It's over.

This is true, and I'm just the person that is spreading around the web like there is only a place for an additional character in DoA5U, looking to the radom filter or the movies poses.

However when I read this in the official Arcade site, I admit that I had some doubts: in Japanese usually there is no distinction between singular and plural in the words (howeve you can add the suffix -tachi for making clear the plural), so to use the word Characters should be or a big typo, or a volutarily choice by TN.

And about the words of Shimbori, remeber like he said clearly in the previous E3 like the full roster of DoA5U was presented, but then in the days between the Japanese release and the European (and American?) release, TN confirmed a new character in the Arcade edition that will be surely released like DLC.

I don't want create false hopes, but seriously with today I have a little (I admit extremely little) doubt about the definitive absence of Tengu.

Not including Tengu was a stupid move on TN's part. Still is.

I'm also sad for his absence, but I can't say that this was a "stupid" move by Team Ninja, and I think that every fans of Tengu know it.

This new character ended to be in 1 day almost(?) more popular of what Tengu is ever been in all his game life (surely, also for bad choices in the gameplay by Team Ninja in every his incarnation). The interest aroused for Mary Rose wouldn't have been the same for an unpopular character like Tengu, and Team Ninja know it and has to put also this in the equation (they can put all their passion in the game for creating a good game for them and us, but in the end they know that the final purpose for their company is to make a commercial success).
The fans of Tengu are very vocal in the community, but there are few. With this I don't want say that because they are few their opinion is not important, but of course would be silly to think that it will end surely to be the first priority for Team Ninja (and I say all this being one of them that made endless requests to TN for the inclusion of the DoA2 boss).

However like I said not everything is lost: for DoA5U Team Ninja preffered to show immediately their ace, Momiji, but in the end Leon and Ein made their comeback. Maybe (just maybe) could be the same also now (we know that the attention for the arcade conveyed by Tengu would be surely lowest).

Not including Tengu was a stupid move on TN's part. Still is.

The simple fact is Tengu has a strong and dedicated but very, very small fanbase. The best time to include him was honestly DOA5U, it was a game that everyone was practically guaranteed to buy regardless of his conclusion and he would have been a safe bet for profit instead of being released as a standalone character (IE DLC). The latter in particular truthfully... isn't the smartest business choice, sorry to say to Tengu fans.

Most people are going to buy the cute loli girl, the ninja, the hot chick with boobs or even that guy in the fishnet shirt/turban they remembered using 10 years ago as kids. But the ugly demon looking thing with the big nose? Not so much. It would be great for the fans if he returned but that doesn't mean it's a "good" business decision on TN's part.

The best way to include him would be to bundle him with characters they know will appeal to most players (IE DOA5U or a potential 2 char pack DLC deal for consoles from DOA5UA). Releasing him as a standalone character for people to buy however? Sad to say a 2nd time but TN might even lose money trying something like that.

Not at all. How much hype would Tengu actually generate? The communities response would largely be "oh Tengu's back... moving on..."
Marie on the other hand will generate a lot more hype and discussion from the community. Who is she? What's her style like? How is her personality? etc. Not to mention sticking her on the side of the arcades will draw in a lot more gamers in Japan then Tengu ever could.

The only silly move would have been to release like new character Raidou, Genra, Shiden or Kasumi Alpha, old characters like Tengu but surely less popular and requested than him, and with a set of moves not original contrarily to Tengu. In that case, implying that Team Ninja didn't have the wish to release a new character or include in DoA5U a different style, then yes that everyone would have been right to say that they had dropped the ball not including Bankotsu-bo.
