Showdown was fine, but the issue was the rap song was wearing out the welcome to even those who enjoy rap because it would always play in online menu. Not to mentions those who don't like rap in general and prefer something like Aerosmith. At least with the new music feature the staleness can be avoided now. I would play it on occasion now.
I'm going to be blunt here.
I come from a mountain community. I grew up with Country and Rock. I love aerosmith. (Also Shinedown. I'd be okay with Devour as a new intro song for DOA6. Or tantric. Aerosmith is signature, though)
Ghetto is my natural enemy. I hate rap. Especially bad rap. (I'm okay with old rap, cause that stuff is pretty good. MC hammer, some will smith, and the classic "Gangstas paradise", as general examples that everyone would know)
Showdown did the exact opposite of hype me for a fight whenever I tried to go online. It pissed me off and put me in a bad mood. Eventually got to the point where I just turned DOA5's music off entirely, either played without music, or used custom soundtracks (thank god for getting it on 360). Just to spite the game, I would play Aerosmith albums through custom soundtrack.
I tried goin back to "default" music, but all that happened is I went back to a bad mood when I had to listen to that stupid rap song.
I'd take
this and
this over that rap music. Besides, it existed as soundtracks on a DOA game anyways.
I actually really liked the DOAX sountracks. Though they are more for relaxing, less for hyping up for a fight, so not sure if they fit in the main series.
I alternate between the DOA3 sparring mode song, Conditioning, and Tribal Beats. (I think the 4 sparring song too, I forget which is 3s and which is 4s)
I don't care if players have to pay money for Marie Rose. People who didn't pre-order SCV had to pay $5 to get Dampierre as DLC, so no one in this community should be
that surprised if they have to pay for her. Just saying
Yeah, but...who actually wanted Dampierre?
French Maid Helena and Consuela Mila DLC? Yes please
A servants pack? As long as there are Gardener Leon
hehehehehehehehe. People gardens and desert falcon cropdusting. I still can't get that out of my mind.
Dwarf Farts.
What is the reason for bringing it back when Helena's not pushing anymore self-destruct buttons now that she reformed the company for the better? Besides, the company operates in a luxury cruise ship now. I doubt they even use the facilities from DOATEC HK and Germany since she expelled Donovan's division.
....what does that have to do with Aerosmith?
I was hinting at the fact that rap has been used in DOA since DOA2. Therefore, stating that rap has no place in DOA is...odd.
And why do people keep acting like Ends of the Earth, Flow/Sanctuary/Primal, The Show/Tiger Show, Sakura/Pagoda, and Fighting Entertainment didn't exist. Far from ugly or "grungy". I always saw it as a mixture of different types of stages. The Show is one of the more colorful stages I've seen in a FG in a while just by the nature of what it is.
I highly doubt the art direction they took in this game had much of anything to do with it being on PS3 as well, though. You could hear them talking in interviews about a lot of deliberate changes they were making in the stage design. Yeah, some textures are kind of ugly, but the brown and the squares were probably going to be there no matter what. Even if it was an X360 or PS3 exclusive...you'd probably just get some better textures somewhere. The game would likely still look about the same overall.
I, too, would like a few more expansive stages from the past, but I'd honestly take these current graphics over the previous games hands down.
And what do you mean by "desperate"? PS3 being the lead console or just developing on a PC that translates to both systems has been pretty common fare for a while now.
Okay, so I will clarify it as "bad" rap. But character themes and menu themes are two seperate things. (same with credits themes...ugh)
Because DOA had been an xbox series for the past like 5 games, so, combined with all the other changes that came with 5U, removing all other signature traits, making it primarily ps was just kicking a homeless man after he'd dropped his only slice of cake.
As for those stages....well, they ARE ugly, in comparison to past games. The primary color pallete is still brown/red, aka, "Dirty, grungy colors". Past games had a lot more blues and greens (Even the blues and greens in DOA5 were dulled down, not as vibrant as past games). Then the sakura stage in doa5 didn't look as good as sakura stages in past games, etc, etc. The Show as pretty much just yellow and red, so I'm assuming you don't mean "colorful" literally.
And I know, its part of why I don't like the direction 5 went in at ALL. Aesthetically, the only plus side is the girl's new faces (The guys are hit or miss).
