Yeah, it's tough going from Bass to another character. I remember Allan Paris excited about doing 80 damage with Kasumi. I was like, "? That's kind of low...". That's because on the average Bass does a 3 hit combo and you've lost 100+ life haha.
And he's not kind enough to pick you up from the dirt. He think's you're lazy and feels you're just making the dirt look bad.

You shouldn't try and just play the guy. He's super simple and has a small move list.

Bass is great just for the fact he's one of two heavies in this game and almost no one uses them. I don't think most people bother creating max damage combos for Bass or Bayman
Those are pretty much the only two characters I'm using right now.

But when you look at 3.1 Bass has more ways to open you up and get some free damage. And his CB is still godlike...correct me if I'm wrong, but is it the only unholdable CB in the game?
While some characters might have an easier time setting up guaranteed damage, others are still just as good (in my opinion). DOA5 is more about those 50/50 and just simply knowing what move beats what. This is from what I have seen from the midwest community here in Colorado.

Sarah still better than everyone imo. Mila fell from godliness that people just didn't see at the time and now never will. Akira bumped up into the elite. Pai fell from grace but how far I dunno yet. Brad Wong is slept on and is so not low tier. Hayabusa jumped up but still isn't the best. Gen Fu is still Gen Fu. Same applies to Jann Lee though a tad less bullshit. Lei is still super janky but still not the ultimate like everyone claimed her to be. Helena is still the overrated bitch and even less so now.
Hayate went from the worst imo or at least in the running for it to less garbage now but godly he still is not. Lisa is a bit of a sleeper as well. Kokoro is still Kokoro. Hitomi is till meh though more respectable. Kasumi is interesting in terms of just how stong/average she is. She could be beast. Alpha is still a scrubby easy mode character except when you can get her to stop pressing buttons which is almost never with Alpha players. Rig is still a suspect ass character, sometimes I think he's great but then sometimes i'm like not so much. Can't ever find anyone to prove it either as all Rig's either mash or go ham with lows like no tomorrow. Ayane is still solid. Bayman is still can u react to the tank roll and punish or can't u. Online that shit is god as it's impossible.
Everyone else is well everyone else. Tina, Bass, etc I have no idea where u fit in overall.

Before he was just complete garbage imo. All he had going for him was that sweet i7 236T, 7K. His speed was respectable to but his mixups were bad and he was on the high end of what it means to be unsafe. All the above still applies except he now has the awesome sit-down properties of 3P+K, SSP, and 3K which gives you a stun setup for free which is godlike. 3P+K into 3K into 7P just makes me cringe at how good it is. 236K is solid stuff to. Everything else he received isn't relevant though. Especially the charges which can still be reacted to and he still has the exact same unsafe problems.
I'd put him up there in the upper mid now though just off the strength of how free his stun game is now. But I can still see him dropping in the long run just because others are better than him.
You sir are a smart man. If anyone ever finds tech from this point out I'd advise all to keep it a secret since TN fails at balance.

Not even Akira Janlee Sara Pai Ayane Gen Fu kasumi their the high tiers in this game in my opinion
