if you saying that you have work the following day then i don't see that as an excuse considering that i do as well and i still manage to make it out every week and even stay late. just fyi.

It's fine.
More power to you if you can go to work with limited sleep. Anything less than 6 hours of sleep or so and I'd be looking at unemployment the next day. I did the whole late night limited sleep deal back in college and it just doesn't work for me if I've gotta think with a clear head afterwards.

So yea, if I could, I would without a doubt.

what time do you have to be at work? it might be because i have to be at work at 1pm. if you got morning shift that'd be different. i don't think you'd want to mix up your schedule to sleep the day and wake up for WNF and stay awake to go to work. that is if that's the case. i get 8 hours of sleep still but the manual labor causes for 7 hours of sleep minimum.

At work by 730 am, awake at 7 if we factor in the commute.

It's fine, Modus. Don't worry about it, if there's nothin' you can do about it then it's just not meant to happen.

If you're available for casuals on weekends, however, you're more than welcome to attend. Like I said before, I'll see what's the deal tomorrow and post up here about it.

Alright folks, Jay Earl will be hosting DOA casuals at P-LAY tomorrow. It's a card and gaming shop. The venue opens at 12pm till 10pm on Saturdays.

Address:

2060 Santa Fe Ave
Long Beach, CA 90810

Info: http://www.yelp.com/biz/p-lay-cards-and-games-long-beach

Jay will most likely be there at 12-12:30pm, so there really isn't any specific time you need to arrive at. Commanda Panda and myself usually arrive around 2-3pm. Vincent Rayne usually arrives around 3-4pm, and brings his PS3 set up and monitor. We're always there till 10pm, so that everyone is able to play a lot. We will have two set ups for DOA5U, one will be a 360, the other a PS3.

Those of you who I haven't met yet, I will be wearing a black LA fitted cap. I will also help players out with the game this week. If a player has any questions or wants to learn anything, feel free to ask me. I am also open to give critique on your game play if you want too.

SOCALDOA will be hosting weekly casuals again soon, they have just been very busy recently with other ordeals. The awesome group will be back in action soon.

Sounds like you guys had a great time and a learning experience from some of you. Anyways, hope to see most of you guys at WNF.
After WNF of next week, I will take a very long break (retire? uh lol) from DOA and offline tournaments in general as I will need to focus and set my priority first on my Air Force career ahead
Even with the good and bad memories I've shared with you guys, I'll miss you all dearly >< I don't hold any grudges and everyone including Dii is cool with me. It's hard for this little Asian guy to keep getting angry as I like to be cheerful and act like a child most of the time (hence kodomo lol)
Some of you I grew up ever since we were very young teenagers (Nykko, SR, History) while others we recently became friends and teammates (Hajin, Shadow, Cj, Morpheus) along the way. You SoCal and NorCal players are like a family to me. It was awesome ride to experience with you all. It will be something I will never forget and thank you all for giving me that.
If I was close to you and forgot a shout out via my twitter page, you can sucker punch me with all your might and pm me about it haha.

hey, was wondering if we could do those casuals on Sundays as well, or just move it to sundays. that way i'd be able to bring Josh cause i feel bad that he's kinda being left out of this loop that he wants in on. and i can't pick him up on saturdays because of work that same night. i also spoke with one of the guys from the store and he said that we have the Okay to do tournaments there if we ever want to. and he told me sundays were good. so if Hajiko--i mean Hajin--could check to see if it's okay to have casuals could be on sundays or both saturday and sunday and make sure that's cool with everyone else then that'd be nice. i don't have contact info with everyone else so it'd be hard for me to talk with everyone.

He's a dude that plays ayane that's from socal. He writes ayane guides and teaches players how to play DOA well. He sometimes wins WNF and is also a great friend. That's him I think?

My name is not Hajiko, fix it! >:C

I'm being serious, stop calling me stuff outside my name. You guys know what my handle is by now.

I will see if folks are fine with that.

More importantly, we need everyone to attend Wednesday Night Fight this week. No slacking off and no excuses. Everyone needs to show up, we have an important goal to fulfill. Not attending is not going to help us get DOA into SCR2014 as a main game.

Alright I have something that is needed to be said about our DOA scene. I know that our scene is young and a lot of us are still learning how a tournament/event should be managed so we still have a bit of tweaking to do to make sure whenever a event occurs that everything is ran as smooth as possible and as it should. This goes for casual, local and major events as well. It seems like each event we hold has some form of fuck up and it's not good for our scene nor our community at all so I am just going to address some of it.

Our players: Our players deserve respect for coming out and supporting such a small scene like ours. They don't need to be insulted because of their skill level, or because some players want to talk about who has the biggest dick(besides I win by default). It doesn't help promote our scene, and doing things just to promote yourself isn't going to help right now, either. Also if you want to talk about who you think is better than who keep it to yourself. Because really again it's not helping our scene. One of the ways I promote our scene is because I let players know we may not be as big as say the Eastcoast or Midwest, but we're like a family and some of the nicest players. Don't make me into a liar. I know our players are better than that. I show nothing but respect for our community players who come out and support our offline scene, and want to improve and become a better player. I do not respect those who put down our players and what they have done for our scene. So please don't do it. It's not a smart move. Our goal should be to make our players feel as comfortable as possible. Remember we're dealing with more minds than what we're used to.

Organizing: The way things been ran for our past few tournaments has not been as good as it shoud have been. We need to learn from how we handle commentary, brackets, and how we run tournaments in general. Also one person should not be running big events alone because then you're bound to make mistakes. Get other players to help you if you can. Too many mistakes been made with brackets and other things that hurts our players. We want things to be ran the best as possible. Onto the next thing. One major thing that's been erking me is breaks. There should not be "breaks" during a tournament. Especially when getting close to finals. When you're in a tournaments there are no breaks. Unless you have to badly take a shit, or we're waiting for stream time or something there should be no "break" and even the little breaks you do get(like restroom) should be on a timer, because that is how it is done in majors. You won't see players in majors going on all kinds of break especially during a top 4 or top 8. You'll get disqualified quick. We don't want to turn our players off by being unprofessional. This effects our players. Especially if they're winning. Taking a "break" can take away the player momentum that they've earned. Which isn't fair. Another thing is the only pressure that the players who are playing should have to deal with is the crowd and the opponent they are facing and the tournament itself. There should not be anything else. No one should be in the players faces. When players in finals are competing on stage you don't see anyone else up there. There should be a rule how close people can be to those who are playing. There also should be no music playing in the background. That's why players bring there iphone, ipods and other portable devices for music. You don't see events playing loud music so it should not be done. Remember we have to make sure things are ran perfectly as possible. Use all your resources, and make our players feel as comfortable as possible. That's how you build a scene. Be professional. Be considerate.

We also need to make sure event organizers outside of our community run everything properly. Don't accept everything they do. Especially if it's not the way it should be done. Speak up. I am still planning to help and promote our scene. I hope I still get to meet those I have not. I hope to get more players involved. And I hope to see those who knows me again.

Would anyone like to meet up for a hang out and some casuals tomorrow before WNF? I'm looking into getting some matches in with anyone and maybe go out to eat or something.
