Choose a Capoeira or Taekwondo fighter and mash buttons. Or spend hours in the lab and learn the EWGF with a Mishima.

I will cheer your ass on if you enter TTT2 at NB #9!

GGs to Harry today. Got to play 3 different fighting games but I'll just focus on DOA5U.

Got our first taste of 1.04 today. All things considered it didn't seem so bad. As for our play session. A big recommendation I'd make is to just choose 1 character and stick to them. When you're still learning the game, using multiple characters will just detract from being able to specialize in one character. The beauty of the Main. Learn the ins and outs of said character including:

Effective pokes at various ranges
Effective launchers for different levels of the stun threshold, along with mix-up capability
A throw(s) for punishing unsafe moves on block and a throw(s) for punishing holds
Optimal juggles for: Max damage, Wall damage, and okizeme setup
Whiff punishers

Once you've learned the ins and outs of 1 character, then you can start to try out different characters.

Yeah, Leifang is definitely my main at this point. Sarah is just for a change of pace and I haven't really played Kokoro in a loooong time (I didn't do any string throws for the first few games we played 'cause I actually forgot I had them). Other characters I'm learning mostly for matchup knowledge so I can have a good idea what to expect when I'm playing against them.

Due to the shitload of snow outside, I unfortunately won't be able to make it to casuals this week.
Anyways I look forward to seeing you guys at the tourney this Sunday, Feb. 9th!

GGs to everyone at Northern Battles #9 today. This tournament wasn't quite as hype as the TGC Winter 2014, but there were some good matches. RoboJoe & I arguably had the best match of the tourney, but it was unfortunately off stream. Congrats to Sandman & NanhouDrops for runners up. Let's see if we can build up some momentum and get DOA5U at Toryuken in May!

Top 3
1. Force of Nature
2. Sandman
3. NanhouDrops

Here's a stream of the event: http://www.twitch.tv/torontotoptiers/b/502092891 (Starts at about 3:02:00)

GGs to Harry and Luca yesterday. Always a pleasure to play you guys! Got in very nice long sets! I also miss how much rage my Ayane induces in Luca TROLOLOL xD.

Have you learned about R1F Harry? I want you to try and optimize your starting actions from the beginning of a round or from neutral. Too often it feels like I'm controlling the pace of a match too much.

Let's see:

LeiFang is a 10/12/15 - i10 jab, i12 Mid P, i15 low jab

Sarah is a 10/11/12 - i10 jab, i11 Mid P, i12 low jab

When you get on offense, try to stay on offense as much as possible to keep up momentum before having to reset. It's also a good idea to launch often (like you do with Sarah) instead of extending the stun threshold too much. Spacing, movement (KBDs & WDs for e.g.), punishment and footsies/poking are also important. I can go over key elements of the DOA5U metagame if you like. Anywho, keep leveling up dude!

Also don't forget guys that the next TTT tournament is on Mar. 9th and that the Toronto major: Toryuken is in May (Let's get DOA5U on the roster of games by supporting the tourneys leading up to it!). I'll post the details once TTT releases them.

I want to stun launch with Leifang, but she gets like 50 damage for it and she doesn't really have the tools to open someone up enough times for it to be worth it. Meanwhile, Sarah gets 80+ and has all the tools. :v

Lol, you're called Lucas? o_O Okay... Did you have fun trolling me with ALPHA ;)?

@StrikerSashi I see... I'm not really sure how LeiFang is to be played in 5U and am basing my knowledge a bit too much on vanilla LeiFang. Try to find ways to set up her biggest launcher(s) before Critical Level 3 of the stun threshold. For instance, I rarely hit CB's with Ayane and try to net damage early in the stun threshold.

Here's a vid of solid LeiFang & Rachel play from the Japanese 5U tourney earlier this year if you guys are interested.

Damn good fundamentals and movement!

I dunno, that looks like mediocre play from Leifang and not enough matchup knowledge from Rachel. I can't believe how many times Rachel let Leifang do 1P~4P+K~P+T. She has one of the best 6T in the game and she does jabs in response. Spacing wise, I think pretty much every move from further than point blank was whiffed by Leifang. The one round she won she somehow got a 20f 3 part OH twice. 20f with an audio cue is definitely reactable. I know I said this matchup is in Rachel's favor, but not like this. =[

Rachel was great though, other than the jabbing Unshu thing.

The 236T's on wake-up are all part of DOA's metagame and netted good damage. In general grabs are risky to throw out and jabs are generally a safer option (Rachel's 4T is very devastating however). The LeiFang player seemed alright to me for the most part. Rachel definitely is an uphill battle for her. I'll keep my eyes peeled if I come across any quality LeiFang vids.
