You all need to make sure you understand what is going on before asking Team Ninja for nerfs/buffs.

Its the same faces in the crowd.

Frankly YOU can win with any character on the roster, its harder to win with Helena or Pai but you can get it done - just like its harder to win with Dan in SF but it can be done.

needs or how their character isn't all that good because hes "linear" or all the other poop that comes off your finger tips and come to Team Ninja with nothing but issues to enhance the fighting system.

1) Add recorvery frames to the stun system OR Make it a little more difficult to stun.

2) Make all OH's SSable

3) Make grapples do a set amount of damage with the only modifier being dangerzones and walls.

I am so much smarter than all of you it hurts.

THE BIG SEXY TOUR 2012 IS COMING TO NEC13TH
I'm going to NEC just to meet you. Wanna have a Zack mirror FT10 if I show up? You give me some much confidence to keep grinding with Zack.

Julius the last time we played you straight up said you couldn't wait for Zack to get patched.
There is evidence of this....

I'm saying, why are you telling other people not to ask for things on their characters when you yourself want Zack to get patched?

I personally feel like it is way too soon to start doing balance patches. I know which characters are grossly overpowered and I know a few characters that are obvious trash but even then I don't want to see nerfs/buffs until we are all in agreement. I see people asking for buffs for characters who are already near perfection because they this is their first attempt at taking a game pro. Same with people who can own newbies online and think their character is god like. We aren't even in agreement on who is good and who isn't yet so how is the community going to know who is and isn't good? Just look at the randomness in the tier list discussion.

NRS made the mistake of patching MK9 THE MOMENT it was released and they took advice from both tournament and offline players as well as online warriors. The patch changes were so nonsensical one day a character would be the best and the next they would be the worst character in the game. I don't want this for DoA5.

And it all paid off for them in the end....the game is about to hit it's third year and had a bigger turnout than TTT2 at MLG.

MK9 is actually on the way out because of certain bugs and balance issues that will never be fixed because NRS refuses to patch the game again. They made their money. No reason to bother with it. The half assed patching didn't have anything to do with the game's success asside from hot fixing specific infinites.

All in agreement minus trolls like some people :p

We figure out what works, how it works, and why it works, and when can anything ever be applied correctly. Game developers can only tell players so much, it's up to us players to figure everything else out.[/quote]

You make a lot of sense with the comments that you posted but, you have to know your audience. Casual gamers won't be found on a forum in all likelihood. When noobs and wannabes, buy their copy of DOA 5, they're looking for instant gratification, not a seminar. You are excused for not seeing it this way, developers are not. Core gameplay is not to be sought for, it is to be given. People need obvious visual and or audio input to make sense of what's happening to their fighter, i.e. birds flying about their head. It looks silly, but it conveys almost immediately, what's taking place. Put the information out for everyone to see, -- I'm not referring to match-ups, the casual player feels they're good anyway -- not just the diligent. I asure you, you'll find fewer erroneous comments stated as dogma.

Patching and balance fixes have nothing to do with how competitive a game is. The number 1 competitive fighting game in the United States, Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 is one that will never, ever be getting a patch. The community is strong enough anyway that patches aren't needed. All you folks new to competitive FGs should take a page from the OG 2D communities where, whenever strong or even "broken" stuff is found, the first reaction isn't "this should be patched" but rather "how the heck can I abuse this to win." Competitive fighting games is an arms race and all you scrubs need to learn to either adapt or GTFO.

The "casual gamer" wants enough information to be able to play the game well enough. They don't normally care about further game mechanics. Normally in-game tutorials give you this, but even then they still do not show or teach you everything else. When people really decide that they want to learn more about the game they play, that is when they decide to get on the internet and search for things.

Be it Youtube, some online strategy guide/FAQ (or a strategy guide book), or finding actual forums for legit information. This sort of thing doesn't just apply to DOA, it applies to every other fighter as well. Other games have their beginner (and sometimes more advanced tutorials) that'll explain moves or other aspects of the game in detail. But you are still not handed "everything" on a silver platter.
