Well its official Irene will never be playable

Well, she is one major character in the very first Ninja Gaiden game. And ryu's love interest. She also has a really cool design from Ninja Gaiden 2 foward (though i believe sonia wasn't supposed to be Irene in the beginning)

I actually never thought of her being in a DOA game, but i imagine her in Ninja Gaiden a lot. (playable).

But she is also related in DOA's story. She could fit.

She had very minimum impact to the NG timeline. As of now (literally now) if she received an issue where she was unable to walk or whatever the case may be, it would literally have no influence to the game's current timeline. Ryu as the other hand is also not emotionally tied to affection so it wouldn't hinder him from his goals to what comes first nor change of character. The only significance of importance for Irene to bring in actual shine is if she stars in her own game (with severe limitations due to her overall character). Within NG NES she was captured after she gave Ryu Hayabusa the Shadow statue, but the events would of naturally unfold anyway even if she wasn't captured because there was no true relationship bond developed until "after" Ryu rescued her. I considered her a normal plot important character within that game, not a major one.

The second reason is an opinion of mine (solely an opinion) with her personality being naturally bland or overall generic and feels rather boring (boring for me but I suppose cool for everyone else). Irene is pretty much like Miss Monday as usefulness, except far more bland. The extra credit is that she knows combat in weaponry and gizmos, but the problem here is that this is her main focus as a character. The other problem is that the users are trying to bring her in with a same similar fashion as Rachel. (I'll give people that one, however Rachel had a moderate-big impact to the timeline so that one is a bit of credit as well as the brute strength that compensates for her overall character even if they slapped a random moveset on her.)

She can fit well in NG, but her overall character was TN's doing. People could ask for Irene and it would be rather cruel to deny the entry for the character in DOA, but the entry itself just seems rather unimpressive and is just asking to create a random moveset from another character or made up on the spot with minimum effort. You might as well ask for a brand new character or a guest. But like I said, I won't be the bad guy here so if people like Irene and are asking her in, go right ahead...though seriously, I think she isn't all that great or a simple slot waste but it's whatever.

I revise my stance: why is Tina in Ninja Gaiden?? Bass and Tina for Ninja Gaiden 4!

Perhaps now we can figure out as to why Tina was holding a sword in one of those DOA movie cover arts. Such hidden plots and details.

Still couldn't figure out what was so great about Irene. Looked up the entire timeline of NG/Conections. Still couldn't figure out why she was great.

I am unsure if people just like her because of the CIA gimmick as some sort of turn on without actually telling people that it is, or they actually like that character for no reason at all. (Now I won't be the bad guy to say she shouldn't come at all, but I do question some of you as to why. You could ask for an entirely new character or someone else, but instead it's Irene which is difficult to grasp in liking her.)

I feel the same way about people wanting to see Ms. Monday or to a lesser extent, Niki in the game as well so if they don't show up either, I guess its a fair trade for not having Irene playable in the game. That being said, unlike Ms. Monday or Niki, Irene did show some competency in NG2, managing to kill some baddies. That was part of the reason why I felt that she could have made it in.

Again, compare her to Rachel who was exclusively treated as a damsel in distress in her first appearance then in her last NG playable role, while she didn't play a significant role in the story, she still managed to kill a greater fiend (Marbus), the ONLY OTHER character besides Ryu to accomplish this (at least I believe so, I actually haven;'t played an NG game after Black). Basically all I'm saying is that Rachel eventually made it in despite her damsel status, Irene still has some chance, if very minor.

In NG3RE Ayane kills 3 goddesses prototypes by herself, don't know how those compare to greater fiends, but i guess it is really close at least. And she also defeats Obaba, that is a greater fiend, in Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2, but Obaba survives somehow.

Momiji doesn't have great feats like that until now.

Irene/Sonia is probably a capable person by human standards, she just doesn't reach the level of a lot of the characters in the universe, but she is certainly capable with guns.

-Unsure if you missed the post right above this one regarding the small biit with Rachel, but will type some of it anyway-

Rachel wasn't exactly treated as a damsel. There were 2 scenes where she was captured (or rather one, eaten) by a fiend within Ninja Gaiden Vanilla/Black/Sigma (The one with the tentacles and spitting acid) and Doku to fuel Alma's power and form. From there on Rachel didn't exactly required significant help. She also had a moderate-big impact to NG due to the character being an actual fiend slayer which was a big thing in NG1/2. She is tasked to eliminating any fiends she can find even in places where Hayabusa has already skimmed through because there was no backtracking for world saving in his case. She also eliminated Marbus in NG2 who was looking for Hayabusa to seek revenge and gathered his scent within the city, but unaware that he was long gone. Rachel happened to just be there at the time so it was a +1 and an impact to the story for killing Marbus since he was a greater fiend who commanded lesser fiends. Marbus missed him by a chance as well as landing to an unguarded city with leftover fiends roaming about...and if there is anyone else that can kill leftover fiends...who? certainly not Irene.

Considering the fact she was able to backup Ryu in Ninja Gaiden 3 and only got hurt due to a fluke says otherwise.
This is coming from the girl who was basically a mook level Kunoichi is pretty massive.

I just meant that she didn't do anything big until now, i'm perfectly sure she is capable, same for Kasumi, well Kasumi kinda defeated a super clone in the end of DOA 5, but we don't know the extent of its powers, and now we have Phase 4....

Hayate... ehhhh... He is supposed to be strong, but i don't see that much besides the cool fmv in DOA 4.

Momiji hasn't had extraordinary feats as of yet. Better than Hayate that's for sure. He has done nothing.

Define extraordinary? At the very least she was able to kill off the Tengu bros in Sigma 2. They aren't quite fiend status but seem to be something else altogether. Hard to gauge what that really means.

Hayate seems to have an uncanny ability to blow up helicopters and other aerial vehicles with a single bow shot. Not sure if Hayate simply has god tier aim, or his bow is OP.

Well see for one, Momiji as well as Rachel has been treated as standard characters to kill off enemies where Hayabusa hasn't been around to do it. Momiji (at least from what I see) hasn't killed anything that weren't exactly on a higher fiend levels nor slayed even a fiend god but yet NG needs these characters still because they've taken the time to kill things from places left unguarded, which Hayabusa is too busy to do so. I find these characters important for that but I haven't seen a case where Hayabusa is in deep shit and the other characters are the only ones that can do what he cannot. Just speaking of character importance, I'm sure the writers of the game can just say "Let's make a plan where Hayabusa can't do anything here and allow Rachel or any other character to kill something that Hayabusa can't. We are still thinking about it though." but what I mean for extraordinary feats, I was speaking of a story-plot situation where only Momiji can perform such actions that the other characters (including the main character) can't do.

Hayate on the other hand probably has the potential to do these yet he hasn't done them in the NG time because he wasn't added or TN just didn't want to, but seeing as how NG1/2/3 have been completed by Hayabusa and his friends, which shows that Hayate isn't exactly needed to save a world nor feel importance if he breaks an arm or leg because the others can save the world without him. (Unless TN makes a game where he is actually playable with a story plot and has more viewing of his strength, but the only thing I give Hayate credit for within the NG timeline is providing his sword to Hayabusa to fend himself because of the Dragon Sword problem in NG3.)

Can Momiji kill a fiend god? I would hope? would root for Momiji but strength-wise in the plot can she actually do it? - If so then that's incredible, at least for me.

Im surprised so many people are still commenting lol. I have been NG player for over 20 years. Anyway the ninja gaiden nes fans like myself were begging for her. She was originally a red head not a blonde. Im happy with Rachel being in DOA she is the most femme fatale imo in the DOA cast with a strong personality. I agree with Sotherius i believe Itagaki made Sonia a stand alone new character. When Hayashi took over the franchise he said it was Irene in Dimensions, a very stupid mistake as i already said only the NES Ninja Gaiden fans care for her. Like the NES mario fans care for Princess Peach. Sorry poor comparison lol. I prefer to see alot more men in DOA we have enough woman as is. Shout outs to Viktor Green on Facebook i still see him requesting Irene he should stop now the new Tecmo fans dont know or care for Irene. Rachel is and will always be a stronger design than Irene. I piss off so many people using her online lol.

I don't know, Itagaki ALREADY laid out the groundwork for Sonia being Irene by saying Sonia was just an alias she has.
Also considering that she has many ties to Irene despite not being her including being a love interest to Ryu...

You can't blame that on Hayashi, Itagaki pretty much made it clear that Sonia=Irene.

Now what if I told you I was an old Tecmo buyer and still didn't have a care for Irene? I'm being serious here, what exactly does Irene have that draws the attention and acquire fans. Because she's Ryu's lover? that's it? CIA hard on? not joking here. Tell me something about this character that allows me to go "Wow." at least wow.

Oh well, not everyone need to like a character in orden to make it into the game.
And to make it clear, right now, Irene is more relevant to DOA than Momiji and Rachel. At least she appeared in dimensions. The other two are just bonus characters with no role in the story.
Also, it doesn't matter is she only uses guns. Rachel and Momiji also use weapons in NG. The problem is that TN is very lazy to design a whole new movelist. Just look at the characters we got since vanilla, Marie was the only one with a completely new moves. The rest have a lot of copy paste or have take the styles from DOA4.
Don't worry, anything can happen, if people requested her enough she will playable sooner or later.
However, we will have to wait for DOA6.
Thank you for the kind words sir but trust me she will never be playable. Just notice how close Irene & Sonia look alike.

Itagaki replied to me years ago saying Sonia was never intended to be Irene on Facebook.

No lol. In the DOA1 instruction booklet it says she investigated DOATEC all on her own without Ryu. It gave me a glimer of hope she wasnt a damsel in distress anymore. Rachel is the ultimate woman warrior for me im happy with the female cast as is. We need more men!

Hayabusa is the only super ninja. He is the only one who will be killing upper tier shit like the arch fiend. It's not Momiji's role in the clan, nor is it something that her training leads toward.

Hayate is generally regarded as the best friend and occasional rival to Ryu, though there is a pretty obvious understanding that Ryu is the superior of the two. Dragon blood is likely what is giving him the edge there. If I were to make a random prediction as to plot development I would say that if "project epsilon" were to ever unlock some kind of hidden potential in Hayate, you might see a much closer rivalry. As things currently stand though, Hayate is most likely at his prime and has hit the limit of what can be expected of a normal, human-blooded ninja.

I could see him killing fiends, possibly even greater fiends through some struggle. The most epic kind of fights have to be left for Hayabusa though. He is the trump card.

Actually, the way the plot of modern ninja gaiden was developed, dragon blood is not that big of a deal. Since is not different from having fiendblood. The dragonsword is probably more important, and even then, a small factor on ryu's power. He just trained a lot, and faced powerful foes, and got better because of that.

Momiji and the Dead or Alive ninjas aren't quite as strong, but they are certainly closer than one would expect.

But, as far as villains go, yeah, the top tier stuff will be on Ninja Gaiden, and, because of that, will be Ryu. But i don't know, the doppelganger at the end of DOA 5, or some villains like Genra or Raidou, eve Phase 4 aren't pushovers, and probably are enemies that even ryu would struggle if he was fighting them alone.
