Sidestep frustrates me. It seems that half of the time when I do it, I am still hit with the move the opponent was trying to use. I know some moves track (HItomi, I'm looking at you) but is it really that unreliable? Is there a certain direction I am supposed to be stepping to depending on the move or something?

No, in DOA5 the sidestep evades equally well to both directions regardless of the opponent's move. If Hitomi bugs you, try sidestepping her long range running attacks (running P, running K, 66K are all non-tracking).

No, in DOA5 the sidestep evades equally well to both directions regardless of the opponent's move. If Hitomi bugs you, try sidestepping her long range running attacks (running P, running K, 66K are all non-tracking).
The only moves you have to watch out for are H+K, 6H+K, 2H+K (low sweep kicks in general), 4K, 4P,1P, 46K, the second/third kick from her 7KKK and the second spin kick from 2KK because they all track.

every character has these moves and set ups , Some of them just have more which makes them Top tier , thats all :)

The fact of the matter is, there aren't too many safe moves in DOA5. Its a gold find per character. Nor are their too many useful frame advantage moves on block (with the exception of the VF crew, of course). Talking about across all characters here.
Its almost like anyone defending this game as a shining gem is counting on the disputer to not know these things.

In this game, once you've landed a hit, it will most likely translate into a deep stun, which can be held out of (thus potentially changing the tide of battle). Most on counter hit even. I think most of these stuns (some at least?) should be unholdable frame advantage if not a considerable launch. Not a way for the defender to correct their mistake, not once (DOA3.1), but numerous times before paying for the initial mishap. The attacker must land a couple, if not a few more hits to score a considerable or high damage combo once their opponent is in a deep stun.
This is where this fighting game differs from others. So while your initial three points sound nice and make sense, they don't apply the same way.

This system is fully functional and complex. But fair? Is it balanced?
At the moment, I think not.

There are some things I've heard about DOA5U that I am hopeful of. So don't think I'm all doom and gloom about that game when its not even released.

It's possible they're not allowed to share certain things. I know Manny posted up a bunch of stuff on DoAW that was copy-pasted in this thread though. Don't remember who posted it.

Well, Dr Dogg was primarily focusing on KI3 this time around and I wasn't present. That pretty much leaves Master.

Doubly confirmed that the roster is "final". It doesn't seem like more stages are on the horizon either.

But, you know, fan rage can change the world sometimes. lol

Online improvements are afoot, at least. I kind of hope that Helena and Lisa get some kind of tag acknowledgement since they're supposed to be default tag partners. And, Ayane and Ryu should get some kind of opening. I think that's probably something they can fit in within the time frame if it hasn't already been implemented.

Haven't they heard about Burai Zenin ? Aerial Gardens ? Freedom Survivor ?

Can we people from FSD agree on 3 common stages and massively tweet them to TN ?
