In Brute's defense that outfit has been in DOA2, 2U, 4 and is considered by many to be the fan favorite Ryu outfit. Kasumi and Ayane both got all of there classic fan favorites back (and more).
Their "other efforts" being nothing with his hair and a shirt, nothing that shows his full face despite having it fully modled and fucking animated, only 3 costumes with Ein and Leon and only two decent costumes with Rig? Don't forget Brad Wong.
Thanks for reminding me of their stalwart "efforts."

What you consider to matter (1 stage, apparently) is entirely subjective and has nothing to do with the "Wanted Costumes" thread topic.
If Ryu's face is already modelled for Ninja Gaiden, but they still won't show it in Doa5, then TN clearly just doesn't want to show his face, for some reason. Maybe they want to make him appear more mysterious and unapproachable that way? Nothing to do with lazyness or just to piss off fans.
It's modeled for DOA. You can see it underneath his training suit. His mouth even moves and is fully lip-synced. It's bullshit.
They ported it over from Ninja Gaiden 3. As I said, they could show it, but they don't want to. They will have their reasons...

Zoom close in to his hair in one his three Ultimate costumes, where is hair is exposed. There are many much lighter hair streaks in his brown hair.
I think they just put a lot of effort into making his mask look realistic, as I doubt that his face would be under there simply due to the possibility of clipping issues. My guess is that they modeled the mask over his face, synced the animation frames, then removed the face underneath, but I suppose anything is possible.
As far as the gray hair thing goes, I never noticed it. He looks to just have auburn hair to me.

Okay, firstly, I think his hair isn't meant to be seen up that close, the textures are very low res compared to the other characters (probably, because his face and hair were just ported over from Ninja Gaiden 3 to DoA5).
Secondly, it could be just Team Ninja's way, to give more structure to his hair, but no other character's hair is structured like this... What do you think?
