It seems I gravitate towards the graceful elegant characters. But I always try to go for the left handed characters because I'm left handed. Helena is my only main who isn't left handed.

I went from liking the spunky characters (Sakura Kasugano, Rimururu, Yuri Sakazaki) in my childhood to liking elegant characters (Helena Douglas, Lili, Charlotte, Rose, Amy Sorel/Viola, Sarah Bryant) in my adulthood. Whenever I look back at it, I question myself: "I used to like using her?"
But that's only the case for females. As for the males, I'm not that picky but majority of them are most likely European/American.
Fun fact: Most of the spunky female characters I used to like were mostly Japanese brunettes while majority of the elegant female characters I liked are European blondes.

I never really go for certain characters but I've discovered a pattern in my DOA characters... they all have a ponytail.

Hayabusa, Ein, Hitomi, Yoshimitsu, Kunimitsu, Lili, Asuka Kazama & Chie Satonaka
For me it's mostly personality/asthetics that entices me, I played Yoshimitsu because he looked awesome and Kunimitsu was because she was an awesome fox lady haha as well as similar play style to Yoshi.
I chose Asuka because I love rough, rowdy tomboys same reason I like Mila except I can't get into Mila's play style unfortunately ;~;. also the reason I got into Chie I love her character in P4 and loved her playstyle in P4A plus she's my fave Persona character.
Lili surprised me and it was more of her move set and the fact that she gelled with me when I played her over everything else.
Ein was both his looks and play style his rough "if you wanna talk, talk with your fists" type of thinking he had in DOA2 made me really like the character, same can be said for Hitomi as well as being cute.
Hayabusa I mained because I played Ninja Gaiden (2004) and couldn't hate the character anymore after seeing how brutally awesome the guy is, and perfecting the Izuna.... I could never go back after the Izuna.
