Oh my God, a Final Fantasy board where there isn't any intense hate on the 13 series :eek:
You guys here at FSD are so wonderful. Where have I been all my life ;_;

Horrible places, apparently. Some people just cannot appreciate that some people have different tastes than them.

Anyhoo, picked up FFX/X-2 HD. Haven't started yet, but I'm thinking of being a rebel and starting with X-2.

You know, I was watching Game Theory and MatPat made a pretty decent point that gamers don't want new stuff and just want the same old recycled BS over and over again and it's true a majority of FF fans are proof of it.

The constant begging of a FFVII remake, a rehash of FF1-6 like Bravely Default selling and doing so much better than a game that tries something new like Lightning Returns, and just most the FF community stuck in the past and disliking anything past FFIX in most cases. It just shows you something doesn't it?

and I don't blame you starting with X-2 I'd do the same if I got it since the HD version of X in EU has no difference what so ever apart from framerate fixes since in EU Dark Aeons and the secret summons and stuff were already in the standard version of our FFX. So to me the only one worth playing for new content would actually be FFX-2

Hmm, I haven't watched that episode yet, but I think that can apply to our beloved DoA, at a certain extent. Developers shouldn't rely on the fans all the time. After all, it is their game

Amen, I feel that's exactly why every FF past X has been criticized so harshly(and while 7 and 8 and definitely 2 has been slandered as well, even they have some level of supporters or people not whining about the series failing because they didn't like the games). It really sucks since FFXIII has been my favorite game and the sequels has been pretty good as well.

At this point, I just wait and laugh and watch how people will say "XV disappointed them" while waiting AGAIN for FF7HD REMIX that will disappoint them if Square makes it, saying how Enix ruined everything and *snores*

About the bolded part.

Final Fantasy 2 - while once being the black sheep of the series - was the basis for an entirely new series called Romancing SaGa, an RPG series with a significantly higher difficulty and learning curve than your average Final Fantasy game, basically taking the leveling formula of FF2 to be the standard for a new IP entirely. If FFXIII had gone this route with a new IP (or better yet, a new name) from the get-go, that game probably would've been better received as its own as opposed to the overwhelming hate it's getting now.

I know. The main reason XIII gets so much hate is the fact there hasn't been any new entries since XIII, so people who didn't like it was stuck till now, which is basically 6 years for a mainline title.

The problem I have with that mentality is the fact that people still act so vindictive on the on the game even though Square released enough games to atleast to ignore the fact.

It doesn't help that there is beginning to be plenty of articles of bloggers rightfully pointing out that the bitching has gone too far at this point, it especially doesn't help when you have reviewers like Gametrailers going to insane lengths to justify getting XIII a good score...but then rail against it, saying the series deserves to die and marking it as #10 worst FF in some level of ridiculous way to make them seem like they are on our side. It's just pathetic to be honest.

TL;DR I can understand why the hatred has lasted for so long, but at this point with the series over and the FF cycle is bound to continue(especially with XV getting a saga too), this type of thing HAS to die off as it's getting extremely pathetic on both sides(but more on the anti side)

Recently finally found a way to mod my FFVII not only does the game look crisp now but you can mod it to be actually harder thus making my previous post about Vii being too easy moot.

These mods make VII more acceptable. Also, crisp music over the lame midi-ised Oggs is also much better to hear.

Yep, I remember seeing plenty of FFVII Hard Mode mods, including adding bonus bosses and everything and the kitchen sink(The main one I followed pretty much forced you to play defensive as hell, you can break the damage limit, Limit Breaks can MISS, and one of the bonus bosses, Gilgamesh, has access to OMNISLASH...)

I also seen mods where people are changing the damage factors, stats to make magic dependant characters less known,etc.

Well, despite what the forum monsters may have people thinking. With the awards the character Lightning has gotten, it's kinda of easy to see it's not what some may have you think, about her, and the games. If the game/XIII series was that bad, there would have been no chance at even coming close to the awards. I mean, sure they're not Best Game awards. But still. It has to say a lil something.

With this one. Lightning hasn't been the main character of FF since 2010. To have been a fav character for that long to win an award for 2013 is pretty good, in my opinion.

And I can't read this. I'm just copy, pasting this.

Outstanding Performance award -> https://pbs.twimg.com/media/Bl5yTNBCIAAp9vk.jpg
Female Voice Character award -> Maaya Sakamoto as Lightning

Anyways, has anybody finished the Bhakti sidequest? It's quite touching :')

Yea. Poor guy thought they would still be alive and just needed some oil to get em up and running again. Then basically died from sadness. Didn't he? Or did he just give himself enough oil to open the wall and give the rest to the others? It was a lil while ago that I went through that quest.

It's because deep down they know Light-Chan is best protagonist we've seen for a while (and because she's a better Cloud than Cloud)
Most powerful, yes.

The best? Not quite.
