Apparently someone said that TN acknowledges that western fans don't like her name (who these fans are I'm not sure) probably b/c to us "nyo" =/= female so most players wouldn't get that the name means female tengu. I don't know if they're actually going to change it but if they do it will probably just be lady or female tengu nothing drastic.

When they say Nyotengu, I think of Neo-tengu. Lol which is odd considering that Neo means new or revived form of something...

To be honest, I believe it's because of well...you guys.
I mean seriously, I RARELY remembered Tengu's true name till I came on this site, now it feels unnatural to simply call him Tengu when that's referring to his species, not his name.
That's mainly the reason right there: It's mainly lazy to call her NyouTengu since again, it's referring to her species, not her name.

No. NyoTengu means Female Tengu.
Gohyakumine Bankotsubo is way to long and hard to say for westerners which is why he's labeled simply as Tengu in the game. Nyo-Chan probably has a really long name as well.

I'm really starting to reject this concept of "Japanese" fans versus "Western" fans because "Western means any different number of countries with a hell of a lot larger group than Japan. I'm just supposed to be grouped in with whatever asshat who decides to spout garbage...from random country I've never even visited? Well, of course the probability of running into an asshat is higher if you listen to "the West" because the sample size is that much greater. We can talk about cultural differences and such but even then...people from all of these different countries can't possibly be some kind of hive mind. Are they? Are our views really so similar that it might as well just be one group? Or maybe is just being looked at as Japanese and non-Japanese...?
I dunno. But, as I said before, if your views are not being represented, then speaking up is necessary. "We" need to start outnumbering people who deign to be rude and obnoxious as opposed to civil. Because I'd rather not be painted with that brush when I can't control the infinite number of asshats (who don't even come to this site) who happen to be from "the West".
And it's "Nyotengu". There is no extended "o" sound or anything. I don't even know who these supposed "Western" fans are who have a problem with the name, either...
