Yeah he posted on my profile:
So, I've decided to pick you up for my casual roster. I'll probably upload some sets soon, lol.

@Prince Adon was respecting Bass a bit too much. In Hitomi vs Bass the pressure is in her advantage due to her string delay mixups and whiff punishment speeds. Backing off from Bass is a bad idea, and it was proven in that match as you could see much of Bass' health be lost due to it. Bass is at a neutral disadvantage of ~3 frames in this matchup.

@iHajinShinobi don't rely on his high launchers like 8K. Just keep it simple, mid or throw, and he has 7K and 33P both hitting mid. Otherwise, just seems you need to get used to his range on his attacks. And don't do 1PP. In a tournament against veteran players on the East coast like @Shade they'll hold it on reaction, plus the hold buffers to hi-counter hold the followup regardless of when they hold after being hit by 1P.

This video just lit my fire back up.

Bless him, he does have a good idea of what to do.

Scroll forward to see couple of Bass matches, though I would actually suggest you watch the whole thing. Any DOA footage from Kohatsu and A-cho is more enjoyable than anything I've seen from America. There are some other arcades too, so try and check 'em out on youtube.

Interesting critical state focused Bass. He had a lot of missed opportunity and has a ways to go but he's trying so nice to see.

The players wasn't staggering from 1P on ice counter hit. I believe that's a 3K sit down stun. In fact when he could have used 3K he did 6K instead. Just felt like he was too 6KP and 3P happy. 3P is a good stun on counter hit but i'd rather just use 33P for a launch into quick ground throw blender.

Where is KPxSavage from? He plays like he actually gives a shit and that's cool.

I can't fault him for going for easy stuns, though I agree it got a little one dimentional. Shame 3K after CH 1P on slips doesn't actually cause a sit-down, otherwise it would've made him pretty threatening on water/ice.

Pretty sure he wasn't familiar with the blender that well based on his approach, otherwise he would've probably launched every time.

This was a nice match to watch. He made some mistakes such as in a double-turtle stare-down he attacked first which just never works for Bass. I did learn something new though, didn't realize you could tick throw his Grizzly Launcher from his high punch hold. Didn't realize it reached that far, the other instances he did it he landed them because Kasumi was attacking - causing her hurt boxes to come closer, but since that one was normal hit it shows it must be pretty good timing. I'll have to look into that.

This is another interesting match and it points out a few things I noticed but didn't note in the previous one. He's doing a lot of things that offline in higher level play would get you killed as Bass but is fine for online matches due to lag. I think he abuses 3KP and 1P (1PP) too much. There are beneficial times where you want to play a string stun game with Bass but offline in tournament setting it just isn't worth the risk, you are typically forced to poke more with single attacks. Honestly Bass has good poke moves, they're just slow. P+K is his best high poke it's just punishable (but no one ever punishes it except bass players), PK is a good anti sidestep with a crouch punishment, 3K is a good mid-range poke to keep them honest, 6P is a good (fast for Bass) tracking mid. 2P is terrible on Normal Hit but is faster than 1P and on Counter hit it can lead into a 2PP stun or have you recover into a TFBB or 4P+K mix-up depending on range and opponent.

Nice use of fuzzy and nh launch combo damage.

People can benefit a lot from getting used to visually doing the proper counter hit transitions like going for 41236T after CH 33P but I'm getting used to it myself.

I hope I get to record some videos myself in the future showcasing that.

@Commmanda Panda

Haven't seen the guy around the forums in a while, but I'm glad he's still playing the game.

Commmanda, I suggest you always finish your combos and just throw punish more. Mixups and such just come with time.

hey thanks for watching the vid. I don't think that this match was a great representation of my play of Bass because I happened to even out the playing field by using a pad instead of an arcade stick since we're friends. It felt so weird going back to pad lol.

I haven't been practicing much with Bass since I try to focus most of my time on Kokoro. But yes what you pointed out is something I will continue to work on.
