Community Does the DOA community agree on anything?

Well to be fair... XcaliburBlades does use his Alpha against good players who know their characters even in Finals...... she can't be that weak.... well atleast she wasn't until The Danger Zone. it takes some serious to bring out Alpha on that stage..... lol they should let you play the AI's version of Alpha to make things fair again.
I believe Pictured meant to imply Eliot, instead of Alpha. I could be wrong though.

I think we can agree we are all goddamn bored with little to nothing to talk about in between DLC packs.

The game is 3 years old now. The forums are kinda dead compared to before.

Can we agree that the community needs not turn its nose up at the casual side of the community? There are actually people here who do want to get better at the game, but are content with just being an online warrior. On that same token, there are competitive players who do enjoy the casual side of the game as well, such as costumes and other side modes. We should be open to all types of fighting gamers, because the casuals players and online warriors can be turned into competitive players if the community is more welcoming.

The community is at this point largely comprised of casuals. This issue you're concerned about doesn't exist and people constantly point this out every time you choose to post about it. A community is never going to stop advocating for public events and meetups, but nobody is being shunned for not going. Go and actually read through our Stickies in the Tournament thread; they're there primarily for casuals and inviting new people to the scene. Key word there is "inviting." Nobody is being told to join or walk.

The problem is not casual players enjoying the casual aspects of the game. The issue is that many casual players seek to direct the competitive elements of the game in ways that are often seen as moronic by the competitive community (and frequently not without proper cause). If you need an example, just browse through Max Drago's twitter feed.

Competitive players have no problem co-existing with casual players. That's never really been an issue even in the early days of DOA5.

Thaaaats not quite true. There's still a lot of "You can't say anything unless you've gone to/placed in a major tournament".
Please link me, then. This argument is tiresome. If you're talking about people doing what Brute is talking about above, then we've nothing to discuss. You can't have a qualitative opinion about something you've never experienced firsthand. Would you like an analogy regarding color choices and a blind person to help illustrate my point?

No i'm talking about how, for example, I (used to) routinely be told that nothing I say matters because I haven't been to an offline tourney. As if years of playing DOA doesn't count for squat.

I've learned to avoid that talk for now, but its still something I see from time to time, and it gets under my skin. But more to the point, I'm just saying that's an example of people looking down on "casual" players, which is a bad thing.

Just be glad you HAVE people that play and talk about your game. Some games are barely surviving right now. You at least still have tournaments to attend.

Trust me, it could be worse. I know.

Yes, people do talk about our game, though not for the reasons you would think. The issue of the soft ban didn't help either. However, the community is small and dedicated to the game, despite the flaws it has. Team Ninja has done an excellent job supporting the game and dedicated players, in turn, go out to support the game that made them household names. There has been some new blood as well, many of them being online warriors.

LoL.... now that you mention it.... it has been "dry" here for a while now.... I just didn't say anything because I haven't been here long and didn't want to sound stupid. :p

Even competitive players get looked down upon.

That's why they're called underdogs.
