DOA5LR New character expectations (Spring 2016)

Again, I don't think an ambiguous gender character fits the "never done this before" criteria that Hayashi laid out.

Eliot in general, and to an extent Christie in her tux and Mila in her c2 kinda shoot the idea of the new character being a trap/androgynous down, in my book.

Yeah but people knew those characters were the gender they were. And even though Mila is kinda androgynous (which is why I don't we'd get one as the newbie), neither of the 3 were made to go the trap direction (Eliot is just a pretty boy) so a trap is still possible.

This would assume that Eliot not being popular is due to the fact that he's a pretty-boy and not some other reason, though. I wouldn't say Leon is that popular either and he's pretty far from effeminate.

If your a male in DoA then by default your unpopular. Hayabusa/Hayate are likely the most popular for a male, but that is the equivalent of saying that your the top of the bottom.

Based on your weak argument (no offense), everyone should stop assuming and/or asking for males in general.

And even though I'd like a trap, I am still mainly basing my speculation more as "i honestly see that happening" and less of "I want it to happen". Just because you desperately don't want one doesn't mean you need to try to smash down on my speculation. I'm not smashing you down for wanting the next character to be a hardcore dudebro male whatever, and we all know that definitely isn't happening.

And seeing how they are going towards a never before done by TN direction with the newbie and seeing how some western fans are pretty vocal about them wanting a new male even though we all know females are more loved and do better in general (even among western fans), I could see the next character fitting in between both. And I honestly could see him doing well depending on how well TN would make him (I mean just look at the success of Brigette from Guilty Gear).

Point being that there's no POINT to a trap in DOA, due to previous examples. I mean its not like they'll whip the dick out for certain moves so it makes no difference and we already have other characters crossing gender boundaries.

I was just saying that and why I don't think that's going to be the new character.

Hayashi said they've never gone on this direction with the new character, and guys looking/dressing like girls and vice versa HAVE been done in DOA, so while they aren't full traps, I think its close enough to discount the new character as a trap.

As for raidou and nyo, you are right on Raidou so I should discount robot girl. Nyo though is just a noblewoman with wings. Not comparable to a cat girl.

Milas c2 is very much a tomboys outfit and Christie in her tux is straight bifauxnen, akin to King from KOF. Eliot, especially in doa4, just straight up looked like a little girl, so he's a natural trap.

This is doa so "never done before" isn't going to be something out of left field. It will be something typical of the fetish stuff we've been getting so it's in the realm of trap,cat girl territory. Then again if it does turn out to be a male character I will be shocked at TN taking the risk to give up the option of fanservice outfits.

Guilty Gear makes characters based on how strange they are. they didn't create their fanbase into this thing that has to be fapable to survive like DOA did.

I'm not saying a trap wouldn't survive, but putting in a pretty girl with the text description that he's a dude would only hurt. They would put in all the same effort as they would into a female character and then not be reaping the full bennifits.

I honesty feel like it's gonna be female. I mean you can kinda tell by their silhouette. She has a slender neck and it looks like she has a bob as well. For some reason I'm getting a strong "dandere" vibe from her......? Not sure why, could just be my weeb juices seeping out from the excitement.....

and I really do hope we get a trap. I really don't want a robot (i can't see how that would work in doa? and you really can't say raidou counts as one. He doesn't really do anything robotic.) or some kawaii fursona. Japanese video games already have more than enough of those (i guess you could say the same thing about traps but eh)
