They got her guys dont worry too much about it. Compared to Helena though, Lisa got a huge buff. She is VERY fast now if you cant tell... OR its just the people playing lol

Anyone noticed? If you look at these new video and previous video showing Lisa.
When Lisa don't wear a mask, the name shows Lisa.
When she wear a mask, the name shows La Mariposa.

The same thing popped up in the HIN tournament. I noticed during one of the character selects Bass showed up as Mr. Strong. It was quick because they didn't choose him but it was there. You'll notice her intro and win pose is different from her Mariposa persona as well

That is interesting. I'm curious to see how that is handled in the story. With Lisa having a duel persona like some kind of superhero. If wonder if only Tina knows they are both the same.
Lisa herself looks fun to play even if she if considered to be one of the worst characters.

Hrm. As yet another Helena player (surprised how many there are of us, actually) I echo the general consensus. What Kwon said is def. troubling news. To be honest though, I'm also somewhat relieved. When DrDogg said she was trash, I was expecting a lot of her old playstyle to be scrapped. I was even expecting them to cut out Bokuho. It seems like her fundamentals are still the same...just stripped of some bells and whistles. And like Rikuto (eagerly) pointed out, she's still pretty weak -- but her damage output was never insane.
Anyway, I'm relieved to still have Bokuho and the back-turned stance. ^^" Once you get the hang of them, they're really fun to use.
On more of a superficial note, seems they gave her a haircut. =) It used to be past her butt, and now it's by her waist. I'm glad it's shorter -- looks less cartoony. Also, huzzah for the UI referring to Lisa as "Lisa" and not "La Mariposa." I was disappointed when they revealed her in July and were still calling her La Mariposa ._. After her identity was revealed at the end of 4, I thought they would rename her Lisa, regardless of costume. It's so much easier to type. Well, I'm gonna call her that now regardless.

That's never how you want to start off a description unless you know you've fucked the character over real bad.
One of her most effective strings gone because it's "simple".
Her evasion gets nerfed from neuteral stance, with nothing to componsate for it. Nice read so far.
Oh sweet I get to put myself in BT stance more, that's exactly what you would want to do in a game with limbo stuns. Of course they forgot to mention how unsafe her BT moves are as seen in the video.
You can put sprinkles on dog shit, but it don't make it chocolate icecream.
She looks like she has less guaranteed options than in DOA4 at this stage.

I wonder what are these new tools from her BKO stance they're talking about. I can understand that they wanted to work on that, but there seriously need to improve the transition to BKO.

So according to Team Ninja's logic making a character "extremely technical" means removing everything she had going for her without giving her anything to benefit from the new gameplay mechanics? Cool. I wouldn't usually jump the gun after seeing one video, but if the people that had the chance to play her say so,too - meh. Put that Leon and Ein shit aside and start spamming TN's twitter account with actual problems now. It's also alarming that Shimbori actually calls her "really strong" without being sarcastic. So far he looked like he understood his own game, but this just seems weird. Or maybe I'm just overreacting...

I already asked DrDogg (who wrote the official guide for 4) about this. He said he's given TN his professional suggestions regarding how to buff the crap tier characters (Brad, Lisa, Helena, etc). The disappointment in this thread isn't falling on deaf ears.

She does seem hollowed out, this reminds me of SCIV Ivy > SCV Ivy. The creators thought she was really good and turns out she was absolute trash.

I think you people are looking too far into this. It's only one video, that's not of high level play and the game isn't even out yet. There's going to be tons of things to do and look for for months once the game hits next month. So don't be counting out any characters yet.
So they traded damage for technicality. Looks like Helena will have to work on turtling and making the opponent whiff by using her sidesteps and bokuho to dodge attacks to gain advantage.

Helenas hair is a lot shorter! And yeah i noticed she didnt have really any great tools. She's gonna have to rely on the DOA4 stun game probably. I hope they fix her then.

This is a game where characters can keep you at disadvantage, so good luck on the turtling. What you mentioned was what she had to do in DOA2 and DOA3, and they didn't work then.
One of her costumes should be a shirt that says, " I made it in to DOA5, but all I got was this stupid shirt"
Well since the game hasn't gone gold, probably near final build.
