I'd assume as long as she can CB in less than 3 hits effectively, yes it would help her. I hope Bryan gets confirmation to talk about some things with her, like if she has any 2in1's or 3in1's. Her new move from 3P into the windmill punches, didn't even give a sitdown stun >_> Didn't the windmill punches give a sit down in DOA4?

I don't want to jump the guy on this but from what I have been hearing lately about the Virtua Fighter characters and characters like Helena. Sounds like DOA5 may have some balance issues. I know not every characters can be equal, or every game as balanced as VF:FS. I never expected that. I wonder what a Sarah vs Helena match up looks like for instance. Just sounds like the difference between top and bottom tier in this game may be enormous.

I'm just basing this on what Drdogg has said, so hopefully it is not the case.

Oh gawd, Helena vs Sarah: just imagine two characters, one can transition into stance safely and one who cannot lol The only thing the DOA characters are meant to have up on the VF characters is damage, and Helena's damage is terrible.

After all, it's in TN's interest to balance her. "Extremely technical" characters which doesn't reward the player tend not to be the most popular, especially since she was the least used female character in DOA4 online.

Christie and Lisa were very popular online in DOA4. Kokoro not so much, but I definitely saw her more often than Helena.

The thing is that DOA4 online was mostly populated by a vast number of casuals who simply mained easier characters. Helena isn't really hard to play as but at first glance, she is. Especially because of the stances. So while tournament goers and hardcores mained her a lot. Casuals didn't.

It was last updated in 2009 but the popularity ranking in DOA4 online has her as the least used female. It's very sad.

When I played online the only Helena I would see would be excellent players that would destroy everyone is a room upon entering. Was real rare to see a mediocre Helena.

A DOA girl will never be gone. They can cut an unpopular guy but the girls are like the flagship of the series. They simply can't remove any.

Lisa was low tier in DOA4 and she was low tier in the IPL build of DOA5.

I know, I said my theory doesn't apply for a character or 3, she's one of them and I believe Zack is another. Bass, Bayman, and Elliot are fine examples for my theory. Hayate and Kasumi were high tier in 4, I am pretty sure they both will be mid or one of them will be low this time around, another good example. Helena went from being one of the top 3 in DOA4, to possibly one of the bottom characters. From that list you just gave on Helena, that further supports my theory.

Been there, done that... Since I'm not cleared to discuss anything outside of these videos, let me break down what you saw.

I was trying to give some type of hope for players who main her. hahaha

When characters don't fit your style or have an "off" feel it can affect how you feel about them in the grander scheme.

I think it's lovely that you believe Helena doesn't fit the style of someone who has used her as his main character for a decade.

Even Shimbori confirms she's been super nerfed so... yeah.

Hey Dogg...question about Lisa. Is Deja vu an effective throw with Lisa?

Yes, it has very good damage on hi counter. But if you watch my match vids with La Mariposa, you'll see that I was using her throw that leaves both characters back-turned. That leads to a guaranteed combo, so I prefer it over Deja Vu.

Yes. It would help any character to be able to CB in 3 hits. However, it depends on what those three hits are.

Between top and bottom tier, the difference is pretty big in most games. From what we've seen in the most recent IPL build, the game is balanced pretty well. There are only a few characters that have fallen through the cracks. The main issue with the current balance of the game is that some characters have to play the stun game to win, while others can completely ignore it.

Oh and as for Helena, I guess they should work on her CB if they want to balance her. She could be one of these character who has to rely on CB if they want to win.
