Little things from previous DOA games you'd like to see back / improved in DOA6?

No thanks to the old story mode unless they make the sense of the cutscenes and not make everything seem so disorganized. A big flaw of old DOA games is that the story mode and story in general was really messy and disorganized and it was hard to gauge what was really going on unless you read the game manual. Dimensions Chronicles mode did a good job making the plot more organized and showing who won what battle and what truly happened during the events.... only gripe was Hayabusa interfering with Kasumi and Ayane's final fights(Hayate to a degree too since only Ayane beat Genra in DOA3, but it does make more sense that Genra was powerful enough to require a partner to help bring him down) since it makes their epilogues less conclusive and personal

I hope in DOA6 they allow a costume editor for the story mode like Street Fighter 5 has so we can choose what everyone wears instead of being limited to what the devs have them wear.

Also make Tag intros, character intros and Tag winposes viewable in Movie mode, and make Tag lose poses where both the partners are shown but only show the beginning of the last person who lost

Chronicle mode woulda been better if we played as more characters than just the ninjas.

Hm, idk. Maybe a colour wheel and hairstyle + accessories, but an entire customisation mode would be bad for their business.

Yes yes and yes to the tag thing. Tbh I want tag to be gone because salt but we need way more special tag stuff if they do bring it back. Oh and specific tag power blows.

Oh I didn't mean a customization mode, in Street Fighter 5 you can choose what outfit you want a character to wear in the general and character specific story mode, meaning like their default, story outfit, and any DLCs you have purchased with them along with the color palette which I think adds much more replay value to the game. Team Ninja can do this as they did this in the Super Hero DLC trailer but they never allowed this for players for some strange reason which I feel is basically a blackball XD Tag mode I'm fine with since it's mainly a casual mode, I've never understood why people dislike it so much since it's not even a tournament viable mode, plus you can always just tell competitors that no tag juggles are allowed

  • This is a minor detail but some of these old lose poses were actually nice, like Kasumi and Ayane's.
The quotes could also vary depending on the opponent, which was a nice addition.

Wait a sec...most if those are the same as the ones in DOA5! So lazy of TN. I thought they were new -_-

- get rid of Supers/Specials and meter entirely. Yes, this game has "meter" and "Supers", at half health you get one use of either PB or PL. Get rid of both PB and PL. DOA doesnt need a Desperation Ultra.
If this were to happen, then they'd need to lower life levels back to down or decrease gravity so you could get more damage out of combos and juggles.

...moving environmental hazards like the cars from doa4.
Please no. These kinds of RNG type mechanics in stages are the last thing any competitive fighting game needs.

I always thought the moving obstacles were predictable enough that a skilled player could use them against their opponent and they were an interesting gimmick. If they ever got in the way in competitive play, stages with them could be banned?

Not really, no. Game can be exactly the same, only without people desperately trying to get off their PL/PB once health bar starts flashing read. My main hatred for it, aside from looking stupid, is narrowing people's mindsets too much.

So bring it back, with an option to toggle it off like any other stage hazard, so people who want to play a more dynamic game can have them, and people who just a competitive fighter can have their empty box stages. Smash bros has the same thing, where people who want to play the full game can pick the regular stage, and people who only want to play competitively can pick the watered down flat platform version of stages.

They were. The huge honking horn and headlights from a car you can see coming down the street were a huge tipoff, but it's "random" because people didn't pay attention.

I think the only actually random stage hazard was one of the dinosaurs in the doa4 jurassic park stage. As in, not only is there no clue it's about to charge you, but it actually does activate at random.

Except that a good part of the reason why we have higher life values in 5 is because of the existence of these mechanics, since they allow for more damage and longer combos. Removing them negatively affects characters overall damage output as well as the pace of the game. Slowing down the pace of the game is not something you want to do in a game with a powerful defensive mechanic in holds.

The point is that these hazards are beyond the control of the player. Hazards are part of how DOA is played, and that's something we don't want to change. What we don't want are hazards that affect the outcome of a match regardless of either players input.

let us play as Tina and Mila without the hair dye. Natural brown hair for both

Just pointing this one out, as far as i know, Tina was always supposed to be blonde, but the arcade machine (or was it the saturn?) was having problems with the blonde hair, so that is why tina had brown hair in that game. Also, even if it wasn't the case, Tina is shown to have natural blonde hair in all the games so far... So not a thing to bring back.

One thing i want from older games, the ability to throw yourself off stage transitions like you can in doa 2 ultimate.

Other things:

-Those ledges that youcan jump over and do some moves, i'm pretty sure they can be incoporated into the game's balance pretty well.
-Stages like doa 2 ultimate stages, big, with a lot of transitions and interactables.
- The costume selection of doa 2 u (i know most of that is already in doa5lr, but there is stuff missing as well), and the unique costumes from doa dimensions and doa 3 as well.

And, those really minor things, that really don't matter, but i find neat.

In DOA 2, when you go through arcade mode, if you pick the xbox outfit for your character, the npcs will use it as well, same for bikinis and whatnot, a feature like this one would be fun, imagine you're a Tina main, and you pick one of her wrestling outfits and all the wrestlers npcs that you fight in arcade are also under their Wrestling clothing?

Personal endings for arcade mode? I'm down for it, but i think the big cinematic story also needs its place, just do like... hmmm SFV and MKX, where you have a main story, but also tiny arcade endings to expand on it a bit (though with better execution than those games).

Hmmm I liked that in the original DOA, after ypu beat the game you unlocked the ability to customize who you fight in Arcade and what they wear. (I would care more about dlc outifts if this was the case too)

This along with personal beginning of the round interactions between characters in Arcade mode would be welcome addition to me.

A colour wheel for outfit customisation. But I think team ninja would be out of money with this. However it may make them avoid recolouring outfits for season passes and to actually come up with a new unique silouhette for every outfit they bring out.

I would like some more wacky costumes too. Costumes with special effects, more character effects such as perhaps a little bruising, cutting and messy hair; not essential but it's an idea. A story mode along with Arcade and endings. A character which we could make the appearence for ourselves, give them a move from each character like Honoka.

Bring the old phantom stage back and Helena's classic bow. Like where is it!!!? Bring ALL the stages back. Heck even make a DLC with a pack of stages. Now that's where the money would come in for them.

But for DOA6 maybe less DLC costume and more actual gameplay enhancers (stages, story mode chapters and perhaps new game modes). I've ran out of ideas. I don't think Team Ninja will be able to enhance the series enough from DOA5 to DOA6, I think DOA5 is pretty visually pleasing for the current generation. They improved graphics in Xtreme 3 but that is as far it can go. They could add dynamic weather to stages like Tekken 6. And a clothing shop to get players to want to save up gold to buy new accessories and outfits.

It would be nice if every character had an intro stance like this before the match begins, that then transitions to the default stance.

  • More stage areas. DOA4 stages were vast in comparison with DOA5's.
  • A weather and day/night cycle for one or several stages, like DOA4's Kyoto in Bloom.

Yes. I mean it will take away the spacing at neutral, but I don't really mind that as everyone just dashes in my face regardless.

That train stage would be amazing omg. Narrow environment, and you're always at risk of being knocked out of the moving train into the streets of a city.

I would like to see weather change with each round in DOA6. Some stages start off in the day time, 2nd round it's sunset and orangy, last round it's night time. However, if you pick the variant manually, it stays that way throughout the whole match.

- a rainy stage again, best with thunder and lightning
- snow and sand again deform under the characters' feet
- bodies of male characters being modelled with more detail again (Jann Lee even had the veins on his arms modelled in DOA4)
- a dynamic camera mode with slow motion in spectator mode again
- when choosing a stage a mini map again indicates where in the world it is located (always found that interesting to know)
- water and ice again reflect the characters
- return of day and night variants of stages
- Aerosmith :( (yeah, this isn't a little but big detail that should return)
