SRK: Community Matters – Or Why A Game Is Legitimate Only If There Are People Playing It

Those same people bitching, need to understand that stuff is in there games too. tk,vf,mk. ive said that to people and ive been told back. "its in there but its not the same in those games." wtf does that even mean? guess what im trying to say its just petty.

It means that there isn't a stun game that resets the situation over and over like DoA does. It's less prominent in DoA5 but it's still there. There is a lot more guessing games in DoA than in other fighting games simply because of the stun/hold game. The game is just more random because of it.

If it's wrong for team ninja to display female cast as a sex symbol & have sex appeal, then it's wrong for all the other games to do it as well
It's not wrong. But people call DoA a "Titty Fighter" and while the girls are wearing jeans and jackets by default here, MK females run around in swimsuit or less exclusively with no chance to change their appearance into anything non-skanky.

WHAT? Kitana, Mileena, & Jade are in ninja outfits (that look almost like swimsuits) Where'd you come up with that? Plus when girls in MK gets fucked up, so does their cloths, which shows more cleavlage despite blood & gore, which is worse because you can see almost all of they "tits".

SF: Showcases swimsuits & bikinis. Guys go crazy over mainly Cammy & Chun Li

Tekken: They have cutscenes that have sexual content. Plus they came up with the bikinis & stuff to showcase their cast. Which again is wrong.

Metriod: Samus Aran is a MAJOR sex symbol that has appeal to dudes.
GTA: Should I say ANYTHING about this series?

So yes, it is wrong. I love MK, SF & Tekken just like I do DOA, but if fans are gonna be hypocrites & talk about DOA like Team Ninja is perverted & the games THEY play are just as bad or COULD be just as bad, they need to quit being hypocrites & just say that they don't like the game.

Wut?

get beat up
so does their cloths, which shows more cleavlage despite blood & gore, which is worse because you can see almost all of they "tits".
My point exactly. MK9 could be called a Titty Fighter so much as DoA.[/quote]
The argument SOME people had against DoA is, as you said, represented in other fighting games too, so people are
gonna be hypocrites & talk about DOA like Team Ninja is perverted
while
the games THEY play are just as
full of sexual content enveloped in blood and gore in many a situation. Sexuality seems to be more wrong in the United States than blood and gore which is in reality
just as bad or COULD be just as bad
as making the male and female characters sexual because in MK, only Cage is represented in any mild sexual manner in the male cast while all the females are objectified.

Just sayin'.

GLoRToR, you are so right about that. Same with JDE.

It's funny how if DOA gets criticized for having fanservice, while they praised SCV and MK9. But hey, it's all about Double Standards.

well the girls in both games aren't used as a selling point to get you to buy the game like DOA is. BIG DIFFERENCE. It's not a double standard.

Other games can get away with it because other games have people showing up to tournaments. Nothing more, nothing less. It won't be an issue for DoA as soon as people start showing up for DoA tournaments.

Well with MK had blood, gore, and lots of other good stuff. SC was simple, likable characters(not counting 5), and is just pure fun.

That stuff gets some people to buy games. It doesn't get people to tourneys.
oh really? Something tells me to you don't watch any high level mk player at majors......the players are encourage to go for fataility/bability on stream.

It's really hype.

From what I've seen its generally discouraged as it slows shit down.

It's commonplace to fatality at the end of a set. If they can babality, it's even more hype.

If you really think fatalities is the reason competitive players continue to play MK, I really don't know what to tell you. lol @ using a stream monster's encouragement as an example.

I was at EVO and rarely saw a fatality. I think it's just as Rikuto says because most people just want to get on with the match.

no it's not that. But all the players were asked to do fatalies on stream for that top 8. The only person that didn't do fatalites...(talking about it's first time there) was JOP. And after a while some people just did just just do it on stream. It was cool. It wasn't the main reason, but people encourage it though.

From what I've seen its generally discouraged as it slows shit down.
Go back and watch the first evo top 8 for it. Everyone did a fatailty besides JOP. No they encourage it. Hell even Mr.Wizards told them to do it if they knew them.

The first EVO? Why not the last EVO where, I'm pretty sure, I only saw a couple in the top 8. Most people even quit the game when the round was over as I guess it's a bit faster doing that than waiting for it to load at character select.

Anyway, my point still stands. Community isn't built around fatalities. Community isn't built around bouncing breasts. That might be why many people purchase it, but it isn't what gets people to tournaments.

Because there were more...and you keep missing my point....it moreso just a cool thing to do...it didn't build the community...the love for MK in some fans like myself did. It just made it cooler that after a good competitive match I can smash someone head in as the biggest FU to them. And a lot of players like to do the fatalilty when they win the set.

I agree with you do. I'm not trying to change your point....Well....DOA is kind of built around the girls take a trip to DOAW my friend...pages of," OMG Kasumi is so pretty!" and " Can we get this costume for Ayane?!" factor this with really easy pick up and play controls= DOA community. No one cares about the guys that take DOA serious....funny thing....a lot of the good DOA players don't play girls besides a few...and there are only a few strong players for some of the female characters in the game....
