I don't know about Sarah and Akira but Pai wasn't necessarily buffed. They increased her stun potential while decreasing her juggle potential. I find it more baffling that would nerf ANYTHING about the VF characters. They're guests, it's kind of an insult to Sega.
Akira received a ridiculous amount of buffs, especially considering the new health bar.
What's insulting is giving a bunch of guest characters so much joe that they feel totally imbalanced compared to the rest of the game.

It's all the same, you can avoid every Akira player if you choose to in 1.03. Although you'll probably see an Akira once every thousand matches even with the buffs. VF characters are not pick up and play, and lag screws up their best moves.

Lag screws up everyone's best moves. And I'm not going to avoid VFs because I'm a sore loser. If they're in the game, they're a legitimate choice and I don't blame the player for choosing them. My complaint is that the VFs feel out-of-place, like they're playing a different game (Virtua Fighter, maybe?). Their ridiculous frame advantage compared to the rest of the cast already propels them a good bit above the normal roster, and now with a decreased health bar, TN thought Akira's damage should be BUFFED? That just makes 0 sense. The only explanation I can rationalize is favoritism/Joe.

PS: I also don't like the new "selective ranked matches" system. I also advocate only being able to see the opponent's connection speed before accepting/declining.

Something else I'd really like them to patch, because its REALLY aggravating.

The ability to actually avoid mid and high attacks when you dodge or otherwise do moves that go under them.

likewise, the ability to do avoid low attacks when you are sailing clear over them.

I think the stages are fine... They're not nearly as beautiful as DOA3's but they can definitely look as good as DOA4's if only they saturated the colors a little bit. All the stages and costumes look drab because of the "realistic" color scheme.

Left: DOA5 untouched, Right: DOA5 shooped

What kind of crappy TV's do you guys play on? DoA5 doesn't look anywhere near that bland in color on my TV.

Well, the patch doesn't add Tengu, so...

Seriously though, the system changes sound awesome aside from being able to decline ranked opponents. As for the balancing changes, I still don't have a main to be happy or upset about regarding any buffs or nerfs. However, I will say that Kokoro's nerfs seemed unnecessary and the fact that they didn't really help Eliot at all irritates me even though I don't play him. He was already arguably the worst character and his position might now be solidified.

Well, I won't argue that DOA5 doesn't have the best selection of stages in the series, but imo they're better than DOA4's. I hated every stage in DOA4 aside from Gambler's Paradise and DOATEC Great Hall, and even those stages weren't that great. Ninja Hideout can burn in Hell.

The new soundtrack certainly sucks hairy Butters' chin balls though.

Ninja Hideout was a "bird-cage" so of course you hated it xD.

Only reason people think the stages look bland in DOA5 is because of the music. Listen to that shit.......Horrible. Now place Bayman's DOA 3 theme over the Oil rig/ Warzone Stage, see a difference? Music had quality back then, now its like watching paint dry lmao.

Ha ha. Good one. It did make some of Tengu's throws look weird, but I just generally hated the stage because those breakaway walls would get in the way sometimes and it was very annoying, not to mention that it disrupted the tempo.

I don't hate DOA5's stages, but I agree that they would seem much better with some old DOA songs playing.

Gotta agree, music in this one sucks too.

Pretty much everything except the actual mechanics SUCKs in this game. the entire aesthetic is dead and gone.

No signature menus, no good music, ugly grungy backgrounds, and ugly grungy stages.

The only DOA5 stages that are kind of tolerable are the jungle, the wrestling ring, and um...i forgot the third. That's pretty telling on its own.

Music is lackluster in DOA5. Way better in previous games, especially 2 and 3. I like the arenas pretty well, but I would appreciate even more (DOA2:U and DOA3 probably had better).

What the hell does screenshot quality have to do with music? What the hell do either of those things have to do with the patch? Back on topic, heathens.

I wonder if this patch will unlock the "legend costumes" retroactively for the ranked match wins, or if you have to play 200 MORE ranked matches after the patch updates.

I was thinking about that too. My guess is that you have to play 200 matches AFTER installing the patch to get them.

I wonder the same. It'd be nice to downoad the patch and BAM all costumes unlocked. I've done enough grinding for a lifetime with this game, I want no more.

Yeah, that would be nice. The game does track the number of ranked, lobby, and simple matches you've played, so it isn't entirely out of the question.

So many things they fix and so many features they add to improve the online experience, TN deserves my respect :)
