DOA4 is DOA

DOA5 is still DOA

97 percent of the moves still stun, still has super basic yet effective mixups post stun, it still has really fast throws that you can't duck or break, it still has holds which kill all your momentum and are still tough to punish. You still don't really have the ability to punish bad players that are just throwing moves out from full screen.

DOA5 added a lot of nice guarantees, but it also got rid of the great ground game that was in DOA4 which means that it also got rid of the unholdables as well. That is pretty big, because force techs are one of the very few things in the game that makes people stop pressing buttons. Now obviously certain characters have FTs or character specific ways to go into their ground game, but it isn't as consistent as it was in DOA4. Oh and they took out most OHs which could also punish mashing.

With all that being said I still like DOA and DOA5. I just don't get why so many people absolutely hate DOA4 and not DOA5 when DOA5 is still a DOA game and still has a lot of problems that past games have had.

-I do not want anyone to think that the competitve players in our community did not exaust every option to try and find something solid within Doa4. The game just did not hold up well competitively at higher levels of play. On the bright side, the game is quite fun, and it did introduce some new gameplay elements to the series.

I don't think 5 does all that great either.

Fix the stun system and frame data and then the game will have real potential. Currently? Nope, not a chance.

Are you saying it won't last as long as DOA4 did? If so then I challenge that. I'm not saying it has no flaws, I just think it may have a better chance.

Offline? That entirely depends on the community. Online? Not a fat chance in hell. Games not even a year old yet and there are less lobbies at prime time than DoA4 had after 5 years. DoA4 while bad, was fortunate enough to release during a time where online for fighting games was not common yet, especially on the xbox where for the longest time all it had was DoA.

The thing about DOA5 in comparison to 4 is that while everything still stuns it seems that in 5 the stuns are just soooo deep and SE has been nerfed so you kind of just gotta hold your way out. Which sucks lol.
