I know. But still seems counter-intuitive from the standpoint that a grab is a grab and the fact that mid strikes are the most common doesn't negate that. Whether I'm grabbing an arm or a leg, it's the same motion. So I think the game input should reflect that. Like I said, tighten the threshold so that spammers will be punished.
Spammers can be punish deeply in DOA5. Are we still on the counter system? If your still having problem with counter spammers, you need to hit the training room again.

You missed the point, I think. We were talking about 3-point hold system vs. 4-point hold system. I personally don't mind the 4-point system. I just prefer 3-point. I wasn't complaining about hold spammers. I was addressing people's concerns about spamming mid hold in a 3-point system.

You're only talking about combat evolving, I get it. But when you have people like Grape say, "TN should go back to DOA 3.1" Its like he saying the ENTIRE game..... And that's the part that aggravates me.
If you could read you would see that I was clearly talking about the stun-game risk-reward involved with this new "power launcher" mechanic. I said they should return to the old stun-game mechanics period and instead of adding a half-assed new mechanic that kind of mimics the old system.

Actually, I just had a realization. Now I don't think the "power launcher" is a particular move that launches for max-height regardless of stun. What did people point out as being unusual about the trailer? "Momiji did a 'power blow' in the air?!" That's your "power launcher." Maybe.

Why in the world do people like the three point hold?
I wasn't arguing about three-point but I'll humor you and answer. Only having to deal with three holds when you're afraid of holding at all is less frustrating. It's also more intuitive and easier to learn. It works for DOA3 but it wouldn't work for the current DOA5 unless they changed the stun-game back to DOA2/3 style.

I am only in favor of 4 point holds because of the over excessive stun game and throws being much slower than they used to be.

Some new info...
http://www.4gamer.net/games/215/G021547/20130510061/

- New feature "power launcher"
- Improved tag

No details on either one, but it would be really awesome if power launcher gave you max height without bothering with stuns. And 2 vs 2 tag would be great, or at least ranked tag...

^i like that idea!
I also hope they add something similar to TTT2's "Tag crush" just in case for those super long tag combos. Limited usage of course.

How much do you wanna bet that this "power launcher" is a move that will give max launch height no matter where you are in the stun game?

Ugh... They keep trying to tip-toe around the DOA4 system to try and make the game slightly more like DOA2/3 when they just need to give us the old system period, not this half-assed shit.
Last week I was playing DOA3 for a couple hours constantly thinking, "Will it hurt if they change the mechanics back to DOA3 style?"

My predictions for E3 on DOA5 Ultimate:

- Leon gameplay (trademark moves like spear throwing his opponent like a javelin, pimp slapping them into a 360 spin & drowning faces into the drink followed by a victory pose saying something on the lines of pansy or smart arse). Hell yeah!

- Possibly some random story cutscenes of Leon & Momiji implemented into the games story mode

- Leon desert stage revealed (vultures perched on the dry bones of dead camels, whistling winds of sand whisking off distant sand dunes & a glowing sun washing the scenery in a sun-baked, blurry heat haze as sweat drips off both fighters mid-fight before the fight concludes). I wouldn't mind seeing the odd random mirage of Roland just for that throwback extra for Leon.

- Ein & Tengu reveal (with his scenery altering stage hinted at but no gameplay yet)

- Some new costumes

- Team Battle Mode

- Small details such as rewind function for battle viewer mode, custom music, necessary gameplay tweaks, move-list alterations etc

& one more character which will be revealed at a later date to keep the excitement mill running.

The game is already a shoe-in buy for me after the Leon announcement alone, but the fact that Momiji will be joining him is just an extra sprinkle of icing on an already enticing croissant.

I am going to be sniffing around for DOA5 Ultimate details like a stray dog nosing through a trash can. Bring on E3!!!

The sweat effects on Leon's stage are going to be so goood.
Curious to see their finale definition of "power launcher". I can see Lei Fang's old 4p+k doing it.

Maybe just take out slow escaping.

The issue now is that on offense you're less sure what a defender is going to do but if you make it so the only way out of a stun is to wait it out, change levels with a low or actually catch the counter you're looking for then it's going to be easier to figure out what their doing.

If you never have to worry about an SE then you can both relax - it becomes entirely about reaction on both ends.

But then again how will a very slow power launcher work in that system? Maybe with that in mind they just do what people have been asking and shorten the active frames and increase the recovery. If their spamming and you decide to go for a power launcher than they will eat that. However if you're sloppy on offense and look too far ahead with a p launcher then they can snap off the counter and really make you pay.

Off topic but if you catch a power launcher you should.probably get big damage off it. ...maybe. Who here is actually testing this shit?

3 point hold, low holds no longer evade anything, tons more unholdable stuns, less stun game in general, slower SE, and faster throws seem to be the best course for the series in general.

LOL You have to pay another 60 bucks just to get "Ultimate." You can't get it as DLC. Glad to see Team Ninja really treats their fans well, you know with the whole destroying of the Ninja Gaiden series and now making their fans pay for the same game again that hasn't even been out a year.

Honestly, I don't really care that I have to pay for another disc version. I'd rather a disc release. I hate having everything be digital. And who really thought they'd be able to add the additional content as DLC? I hope not many.

Her moves look fantastic, but her stance.... her stance just feels so stiff and lifeless. I can't quite put my finger on why, but I'm hoping for more Momiji footage showing off what she's really capable of. I'm afraid that won't be happening until E3, so the wait is gonna suck DX
