NG3 Making Folks Wary of DOA5

You need to stop saying dumb shit like that bro. You sound like some sistah on maurey waving her hand around trying to get all up in my business.

Just because I watch Maury, does not mean I act like a sista!

You should be. Especially if its competitively. It's a pretty bad game, dawg.

Why should I be embarrassed over a game that I like? Doesn't matter if it's good or bad, casually or competitively.

so you need to work on your ability to distinguish insults from criticism.

Well you really push your criticism to the extreme.

There is no excuse for that, some blatant fanboy shit going on there. If you like team ninja that much you need to be a hell of a lot more honest with them.

I can be honest with Team NINJA without having to act like they've caused the end of the world. This is what I've been trying to get across this whole time. We don't have to talk about getting Hayashi fired or whatever just to have our way. That's just ridiculous.

That's because I started with DOA and there hasn't been a game I wanted to play at tournament level since then. Well, there was SC4 but that game died very quickly and I was working 40-70 hour weeks when that game was in its prime. By the time I had a grasp on the dos and do nots of tournament play for SC4, most tournaments were down to 10-20 man showings. That game did more to teach me how to play then it did to make a name for myself.

As for SCV, I took Thuggish Pond out of winners bracket at MLG Winter Championship just the other week. Guy even told me he's never seen any Astaroth that could play keepout to that level and he's a former world champion.

Anyone who has fought me knows I'm not someone you take lightly. Everyone else I'm hoping stays ignorant -- makes the next victory easier.

Dam, good shit man. Is there footage of it? I'd definitely like to see that match.

Yes, you're definitely a force to be reckoned with.

You need to stop saying dumb shit like that bro. You sound like some sistah on maurey waving her hand around trying to get all up in my business.

Lol that's funny, but tbh I hate those kind of shows -_- It makes me sick sometimes to see how fucking stupid people can be. It's really sad that you can find the dumbest and most pathetic people on reality TV sometimes. It's so ridiculous that sometimes I wonder if it's staged or not. And the fact that profit is gained off of that kind of exploitation is even more sick. I really don't care who the baby's mamma is or who fucked who, etc., don't bring that shitty drama to television. People like watching that shit? Really? I call it false entertainment (for lack of a better term), but I guess that's America for you.

R4712-VR88, I know that Rikuto can be rough around the edges, but he is absolutely correct and brutally honest at that! If you do not realize, he loves Doa, and he only wants the best for the series. I think I am the first person he met from the community, and I must say he is a very cool guy. We are now on the 5th title in the series, and it is about time the community put some fire under Team Ninja's ass. Please do not think he is being condescending or rude. It is the exact opposite. A great competitive fighter equal more sales to the hardcore player base. Hardcore + Casual = A lot of money for Team Ninja. It is a symbiotic relationship. I am also so tired of talking up Doa3.1, yet no fucking one have played it except for the pioneers of the community. We need another Doa fighter that is highly competitive to show that doa is not just a shallow titty fighter with no depth. Players like Sorwah, Rikuto, Tom Brady, Ransuu, Perfect Legend, My Self..etc have worked too hard for the past 10 years to let Doa5 turn out to be another Doa4. We deserve a great fighter after all these years.

I'll add my two cents >_>'

When Hayashi took over team ninja I thought it brought in a new era of TN, in fact I was happy because I would see their games on PS3 now as opposed to dick riding Xbox for years on end(not sure if anyone else felt that way), but since I liked NG Sigma 1 and 2 despite what people said about both, I think they truly are the complete versions of NG(for better or worse). However It seem when starting a NG game from scratch....they fucked dat all up. Why couldn't they stick with what they had in NG2 and improve on it? Idk in fact im dumbfounded in why they went to great lengths to change it...because it isn't for the better....they streamlined at game series that's known for its difficulty...WTF? sure I don't play on Master Ninja Difficulty but for fuck sakes when NG3's only lightweight difficult boss was fiend Ryu(mind you that he himself predates back to NG1) and only due to the biggest problem I had with the game(other then all the OTE) was No Health Bars on Bosses....It's bad enough when you make me use 1 weapon(and Charge People for weapon DLC later? ya fuck you....) but take away all replay value(Gold Scarabs/Crystal Skulls...hell Essence in general)...to help streamline the game to appeal to a broader more brain dead audience....There are Few things in NG3 that appeal to long time fans of the series....that being Shadow of the World mode....as they did that right(somewhat) but it still bewilders me that they made Ayane and Momiji playable in Sigma 2....yet they are no where to be found outside of cutscenes....(did they just give up half way?). The Point in this rant was to show how much Hayashi changed NG from the titles Itagaki started then the stuff he just essentially re-released, to the thing he created himself. If DOA5 turns out like NG3 then im done. DOA5 aesthetically looks good i give it that....however that shit means nothing if holds in stuns stay because we'll just have DOA4 with powerblows and a sidestep mechanic...oh yeah and make it so that AM2 will never want to do another crossover ever again >_>' I can't see Ryu being in VF anytime soon....

anyways Rikuto has been right about DOA as hes been playing the shit forever....so props to him for hold it down.

Here is the situation.

--Hayashi has made drastic changes to existing IP's without anyones approval.
--Hayashi does not care what you think.
--Hayashi has pretended to take feedback and largely ignored it, like he did with NG3 and DOAD.
-- QTE's, which are disliked in both NG3 and DOA5, and have been rejected by both communities, have been incredibly prominent in things he specifically has touched.
-- He has never admitted any of this was a problem.

These are patterns he has established.

So let me ask you this. If someone is fucking up your games, is not willing to listen to you but is completely willing to exploit you for media purposes, what is your theoretically positive outcome to the situation which does not involve him being fired?

I'm pretty sure the fact that DOA5 is looking as good as it is can 100% be attributed to Shimbori's efforts and his uphill fight against Hayashi's ignorance. You all remember that tweet where they mention the "heated argument" they got into over DOA5, right? So I'm grateful that Shimbori's making good changes to the series and taking feedback from people like Mr. Wah. He just needs to keep taking our input and fix up the rest of the game. ;)

I would have loved to have been a fly on the wall (an extraordinary fly that had a magical understanding of the Japanese language, no less!) that day.

And this is why I'm not worried about DOA5. Had Shimbori been the check agaist Hayashi for NG3, we would've experienced a better game.

I hear you man. There's some crazy messed up people in the world. I've been watching Jerry Springer since I was a kid and recently got into Maury and Steve Wilkos. I tend to find Maury quite annoying due to the guests and audience being so loud and sometimes just over-reacting so stupidly.

We are now on the 5th title in the series, and it is about time the community put some fire under Team Ninja's ass. Please do not think he is being condescending or rude.

I just feel that some of the things he says is so unnessesary though. Talking about trying to get Hayashi fired and such? How is that good? I don't see that as good criticism.

QTE's, which are disliked in both NG3 and DOA5, and have been rejected by both communities, have been incredibly prominent in things he specifically has touched.

But what's so wrong about them? I mean, they aren't used extensively like they are in God Of War for example. In NG3 you only have to hit certain buttons at certain times and they're always the same ones, it's never random. So I just look at them as just a normal thing that you have to do anyway. I don't see it as some mini-game or something. And in DOA5 it's only seen when the flying car appears. I mean, come on, it's not like they kill the game.

So let me ask you this. If someone is fucking up your games, is not willing to listen to you but is completely willing to exploit you for media purposes, what is your theoretically positive outcome to the situation which does not involve him being fired?

*shrugs* I don't know. I don't exactly think like that. The games aren't my games because I didn't create them. There's only so much that we can do as the fans/customers. Plus I'm very open minded to games. I don't see something that I don't like and just bash it to hell and say the game sucks. When it comes to DOA, I want it to be good. I want DOA5 to be the game we're all pushing and hoping for it to be. And if that doesn't happen, then that sucks. But since I'm a DOA fan I'll still enjoy the game for being DOA.

I'd rather watch Maury or Steve Wilkos over Jerry Springer, that guy's a troll lol.

To me it makes sense not being able to hold while in stun. Because, imagine in a real fight. You're not going to just think about catching an attack after being hit in the face a couple of times. No. Your thoughts are going to be either block, getting space from the opponent or sidestepping and attacking.

i can counter that argument with... well if u ever saw a boxing match and a person is being bashed he wont just let the other guy bash him to death ... eventually hes gonna counter and hit back ...

but if he goes for an uppercut n the other guy ends up flying ... well obviously there wont be an air jugge (LOL) but it makes sense not to be able to counter then .. lol

plus there are those limbo stun states ... and in doa5 seems theres alot of situations that lead to it which is great ...

so ...

It breaks the pace of the combat, that's the problem with it. In the case of powerblows its kind of irrelevant because you will never get these off in a real match with a decent human. It is incredibly out of place in the case of cliff hangers though, as the animations for the cliffhanger do not even match what was happening before it started. In the Akira trailer for example, you can clearly see kasumi smashing through the fencing and she should be going over the cliff immediately like all previous DOA games. Instead an extra 8 feet of floorspace magically appears behind her and the guaranteed damage that was given to the attacker before is denied in favor of a mixup where the attacker can actually take damage instead. That is both immersion breaking, and unrewarding for the attacker who put the opponent in that situation after already guessing correctly however many times was necessary to put them there.

Furthermore If you are in a situation where a 50/50 is absolutely required, you should be making decisions based off of your knowledge of that particular 50/50. This is what gives a person who does his research the edge of the over the stubborn ignorant person. Cliffhangers instead automatically force you to just flip a coin, even if you don't pick an option as an attacker.

You also haven't spent any major time with the game, so you shouldn't have any say in anything. I have spent more time on DOA throughout the years then Hayashi has, even if he was working on the game every single day until release. Hardcore Ninja Gaiden fans have spent more time on the game than he has. If he can't even grasp the wishes of the people who devote their time to it, then yes I am going to take issue with him on a personal level because what he is doing is both disrespectful and ignorant.

Not so much as having to pause the game to change weapons and use health.

That is both immersion breaking, and unrewarding for the attacker who put the opponent in that situation after already guessing correctly however many times was necessary to put them there.

To be in the safest situation, the attacker will have to go for the P/K cliffhanger. Because if they throw and the opponent guesses right the attacker will take fall damage. But agreed.

You also haven't spent any major time with the game, so you shouldn't have any say in anything.

You say that as if the twelve years that I've played DOA I've learned and done nothing.
