Famitsu: "Why chose Jacky from VF5?"
Hayashi: "Jacky was originally one of the top choice during DOA5..."

Momiji can do double jump. Can attack from the air.

DOA5U can read DLC from DOA5.
If the character is unlocked already on DOA5U, that character can use DOA5 DLC.
(This include the basic FREE Version as long as that character is unlocked in DOA5U)

Two locked character slots, one for Leon and one for the 14th female. Looks like Tengu will sit this game out as well.

Update:
-Cannot update the game from DOA5 to DOA5U since they have changed the game so much.
-They are considering if it is possible to do a free version on xbox360.
-DOA5 and DOA5U cannot have online with each other since they have changed so much in DOA5U.
-DOA5U Free version will be released worldwide.

-They release a free version so that your friends can try out the game and enjoy with anyone who have bought the full version.
-Time limited unlock for other characters are considered, so you can tryout the character for a limited time, if you like it , you can then buy the full unlock.

(OK, correct me if I translated anything wrong)

If you guys recall, we had a 2 random slot pic before during the DOA4 announces ..
I'm guessing one is Tengu , one ? is likely to be Rachel at this point (I feel we wont get more VF) ...and the other ? is Leon ...

also .. we had smaller select screens before that just grew in the past iterations of DOA5 ..
its still possible we get Raidou ... (I really REALLY want Raidou .. >__>)

lol What a joke, you still have to buy $100+ worth of DLC and they're going to add more. Well you don't have to 'buy' it exactly

The only good news is we're getting Rachel after all, assuming she's opposite Momiji. No love for birdman. Highly doubt the randoms will be characters

Probably not buying unless Momiji or Rachel turn out to be interesting

this format is pretty damn genius , buy the character u only want to play .... if the free version is only available for PS3 probably because MS doesn't approve of free crap w/o fees / or the because they realized more ppl bought the DLC on ps3 since it sold more copies on sony .

Ah, yes that's much better. My mind did not switch back to English mode fast enough.

I don't see how requiring someone to know specifically what move their opponent will use makes things more random.

Because at the end of the day people will still spam holds. The REAL issue is the frequency of holds being allowed to be used. Reduce the amount of situations holds can be used and you solve a good portion of the counter system creating random situations.

The basic version of the game will be free on Playstation store.
Kasumi, Ayane, Ryu, Hayate are selectable.
The rest of the cast need to be bought.
All online mode are included in the FREE Version.
Story mode is locked in Free version.
DLC from DOA5 can be read as long as that character is unlocked in DOA5U
Cannot play offline story mode

Each extra character cost 400 Yen
Story mode cost 1500 Yen
Full version and Free version can be played with each other online

Full version:
The full version can read DOA5 save data.
All mode can be played

oh shit this works out perfect for me. download free version and buy Leon as hes the only character i give a shit about and then save 35bucks, shit is some damn good marketing from TN. wonder if its PS3 exclusive

Probably. MS has been stupid with their whole closed network crap so I'd be surprised if they allow TN to do this.

You made an argument that, in theory, demonstrates why a 6-point hold system would not reduce randomness (though it actually would, statistically speaking, though perhaps not by a significant margin. 33% chance of correct guess goes to 16.5% for highs/lows, not taking into account "abnormalities" like low holds crushing highs, HiC throw baiting, string benefits, etc.).
What you did not do is demonstrate how a 6 point system would increase randomness. An entirely random hold guess would still be an entirely random guess in either system. The idea with the 6 point system is it would only beat a smaller amount of options your opponent does (same goes for any move), and thus reduce the chance that the random guess would have a payoff.
Whether the difference that changing the system would cause would actually make a substantial difference is another point. I don't see how 6 points would increase randomness. At most significant impact, it would leave randomness the same, and make it more difficult to use holds effectively.

Because changing the amount doesn't solve the problem. They can still hold, just now you are going "do I do a high kick or a high punch?" You totally didn't read/understand anything I just wrote. Here's a TL;DR version:
Not solving "randomness" problem =/= making it worse
therefore...
6 point hold system may not solve randomness problem, but that doesn't necessarily make it any worse than it already is
