Ayane 4p has mid crush frames and Helena's 6p is not particularly deep so its prone to getting crushed, Bass has the same thing with a lot of his mid punches where ayane 4p (and hayate 4p now that i think about it) just negates those moves. Opt for lows and true mids if ayane 4p is giving you problems, or lab and see which non-true mids will beat her 4p (Bass 6k is good for that)
If the mid is linear enough or doesn't hit deep enough then ayane 4p can crush it, this fact has not changed between games, in fact a lot of moves can do this, (Zack ducking sweep, honoka low leg drop, Nyo 6k, etc) ayane 4p is just one of the better ones since it comes out so fast
But despite being fast it is also super inconsistent,if the spacing is off you can CH 4p like a regular standing move so despite the fact that it can mid crush, it's not a mindless mid crush that you can toss out will nilly, just lab it out and I'm sure you'll find some counter play, if not, you might wanna try a different MU
It's not a braindead move, but it is a braindead property for the move. Usually when the mid crush kicks in, it's a "welcome surprise" to the Ayane player, and the times it does work intentionally are situations where it really shouldn't be doing that from a conceptual balance standpoint, which leaves one to question why it has the property to begin with.
Ayane's 4p has crushed mids as far back as DoA2 (I never played doa1++, but it probably did there as well). 4p in 2U was super obnoxious. 98% 2U of Ayane players was literally just 4p and 4T into 4p lol.
Its just one of those stupid things in doa just like Lisa's 1p that goes under practically everything.
Both Ryu's 3P+K and Ayane's 4P leave them BT with string follow-ups that can all be neutralized by pressing 2P.
What "reverse mixup" are you talking about?
Well, I mean if you're on console the entire game is straight-up unplayable due to input lag so literally everything is stupid and broken.
But on PC, a 2P after guarding Ayane's 4P is guaranteed. It interrupts all of her stings and she can't evade or block it.
probably just online, but answer me this, when are they doing it and it's beating you out? are they doing it from disadvantage, from starting distance, from midscreen or all of the above?
They're doing it at random times with no rhyme or fucking reason, I know how to deal with it. It's just fucking annoying when someone is -5 and you go for your quickest mid and they do a move go under shit
He meant "When do they do it when the mid crush works?" not "When do online Ayanes spam 4P?"
The latter would be "literally every second of every match."
