    According to the game, no. According to our mad scientists, yes. Theoretically if you sidewalk downward it can block faster? But it's all sketchy ass theory crafting. It's definitely slow, though. It feels slow as hell and I can see myself getting thrown out of animation on a regular basis.

    That depends what part of it you're attempting to avoid. Rig and Kokoro do ignore it, as far as the possibility of being countered is concerned. Getting stunned is different, though I suppose I could avoid that as well by simply putting down my controller and refusing to do anything.
