Yes, everyone, Pixiv has a rule that clearly states that reposting pictures from it is prohibithed. YOU CAN link them, but reposting them (as in, the image file) gives you a 404. It's not like DA where it's allowed.
If you respect the work of Japanese authors, you should follow these rules: they are very strict with their own work, and do not like to see it reposted (without permission especially).
For example, Tumblr posts that get reblogged a million times, even with the source, make some of the original artists take down their work on pixiv.
Don't ask me why they do so, but I can try to make an explanation:
Individual work is seen as precious and important, seeing it reposted so casually and so... hmm... with such a fervid, passive consumption might belittle it and turn it into another product that you use for 2 seconds and then throw away. I'm not saying everyone who shares Pixiv works is someone who doesn't respect the artist or doesn't appreciate their work, I'm just trying to understand their mindset.
