Isn't FFXV releasing on September 30th? even FF articles out there says it is. Siliconera doesn't usually lie either (Except for one Persona 5 article awhile back, but that's because there was something in the game that had to be changed.)

Hm? Yeah, we all know that it releases September 30th. Was there any doubt? It was already rumored about a month ago and in the show two days ago they officially confirmed it.

We were talking about the game Word of Final Fantasy...

worldoffff.jpg

...that is set to come out this year but who knows when exactly.

Dissidia started November last year in the arcades, but even there it isn't finished yet. Half the roster is still missing. So it will either come at the very end of this year or probably early next year on PS4. Then there's also the first episode of Final Fantasy VII and Kingdom Hearts 2.8 and Kindom hearts 3...they really have to wisely choose their release time frames or else they are in danger of cannibalizing each other.

the only one i would worry about that is FF7 and FF15 since they're both very similar.

KH3 and Dissidea i feel are different enough from anything else that they could release when ever the hell they want.

For the time being, Dissidia is the only game with a longevity since it will have a similar support to how Destiny is with the +5/+10 year contract of continued supporting content. FFXV as well as FFVII is for the mass sales with Square Enix needing a new FF mothership (main series) title anyway because it's long due for another one since FFXIII was the standard mothership title.

Right now, the focus is only FFXV and FFVII until the sights change to Dissidia years after.

how the fuck do you do product placement out the ass and still have this big of a deficit? im honestly pissed considering these product placements are the reason all their design choices are so goddam boring and yet it seems they're spending just as much money as they're saving probably on these pointless tie-ins that would be better suited for adding story into the actual game.

This article is a bit on the sensationalistic side. It's Kotaku... ;) This was also already discussed in Neogaf a few days ago and Tabata clarified the 10 million figure is nothing more than a goal for the team and not about profit. He said the number is probably exaggerated but was put out to demonstrate the team’s lofty ambitions.
I also don't know what Russian is so mad about here...they do owe him nothing, lol. XD Street Fighter 5 and their more than just lofty 2 million goal for a rushed and unfinished full price product comes to mind... >__>

Anyways, some more news about FFXV:
Tabata commented about the IQ (image quality) and performance of the Platinum Demo which seems a little unstable across both platforms:

"Regarding framerate and optimization on the full game, Tabata says the team will continue to improve on the final product. Platinum Demo uses a dynamic resolution process as a sort of experiment and the upper limit is full HD. The point of the demo wasn’t to show off the framerate but for fans to experience a part of Final Fantasy XV‘s world. The team focused on resolution first.
Tabata says Platinum Demo has the same specifications across PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. The full game will be optimized for each console, though they haven’t decided if both console versions will be exactly the same once optimization is finished."
http://www.novacrystallis.com/2016/04/24996/

The last part sounds a bit worrying. :/ I really hope they don't decide to hold the PS4 version back just because the Xbone can't keep up. But developers usually don't do this but opt for a platform specific optimization. It will probably come to 1080p and locked 30 fps on the PS4 and 900p and locked 30 fps on the Xbone.

Other news:
There is no PC version of FFXV in the works so far!

"FFXV director Hajime Tabata told Engadget that the studio isn't currently working on a PC version of the game.
Unfortunately we weren't able to do simultaneous development on a PC and console version for XV," he said. "We had to focus on the console version and our goal was to maximize, optimize everything for the HD consoles. Once that's done, then we will definitely take a good, hard look at PC and what we need to do, and consider all our options. But right now we aren't decided, we're still considering a lot of things."
http://www.engadget.com/2016/03/30/final-fantasy-xv-release-date-anime-movie-pc/

They will probably handle it like with the other FFs recently. Console versions first, no announcements of a PC version as long as they sell well and then, maybe after a year, they suddenly announce a PC version. ;) Many people will be double dipping since they want to experience the game in prettier PC graphics.

FFXIII didn't really have a public demo either, so alot of people including myself went into XIII completely blind.

XV has been shown off quite extensively since it was renamed and has had two demos which the mist recent being public so people have more of an idea of how the game plays and it seems there's a bit of fan disappointment already.

Lol, the demo isn't very popular it seems. Funnily enough it's mostly the graphics and overall IQ that the people are bashing in other forums:

"The character model look like from a PS2 game."
Is that you @Argentus? o . O

"This is a last gen game, that's why it looks so fuckin ugly."

"I only played it for 5 mins, but this game looks awful. Like a last gen game, and not even a good looking last gen game."

"Just played this demo on PS4, my eyes hurt while playing."

"Yup, it looks like crap. It also CONTROLS like crap."

Love the hyperbole! XD

NX Gamer, a graphics specialist and enthusiast, is apart from some shortcomings actually quite content and partly even impressed by the graphics:

Even the framerate isn't actually that bad with an average of 28-29 frames per second and most of the time actually locked 30.

I love when people say something looks like a ps2 game! Like they must not remember just how pixelated and ugly so much stuff was back then! Even low budget Japanese games on the Xbox 360 don't look like PS2 games.

Also even though in the demo the graphics didn't impress me the controls were fine to me. I didn't play the Duscae demo though so I can't compare them both.

LOL are those people are blind? Even I can tell that this game looks NOTHING like a PS2 or a last gen game (despite not knowing much about graphics and stuff related to it). Sure it can improve, but in my opinion it's already one of the best looking games even now.

It's usually the people with the least knowledge of the technical stuff that like to throw around with such hyperboles. ;) Another thing I noticed, so many are calling for the PC and PS4k (I dislike this rumored console already so much!) as the saviours for this "ugly" game...though it's actually the graphics engine/the software and not the hardware of PS4 and Xbone that is overchallenged here. There are by now lots of 1080p and 30fps or even 60fps games on both consoles that look absolutely stunning. Optimizing the Luminous engine for consoles is really hard and protracted. That's why Square Enix now scrapped it after just partly using it for FFXIV and completely using it for FFXV. FFVII Remake and Kingdom Hearts 3 will use Unreal Engine 4 from now on only.

I actually also thought the game looks fine overall. Not great but good. (It excels in it's art though!) The IQ is better than in Duscae framerate too and I'm sure we won't see these purposly blown up textures on books and pictures in the final game.

Yeah I also hate the idea of ps4k! I don't want consoles to become things that come out every two and a half years. And people keep saying "oh well you spend £600 every year on the new I phone" who does because I certainly don't and I know plenty of others who don't. Not to mention what kind of comparison is a phone and a console?!

I have to say though if its just got better framerate and graphics then I don't care. If stuff is exclusive for it... God I hope its games I don't care about!

Fortunately it's said games developed for the PS4.5 or PS4K whatever its called will still work on normal PS4s, they just dont perform as well.

Which I'm happy for as I mentioned a few times already I only just got my PS4 in January >.>

I really hope so. I only got mine last June not to mention I've "modified" it by replacing the 500gb hard drive with a 2tb one so I don't want that all being undermined by it becoming obsolete after a year.

I'll be fine with it simply being a better version for the people that want to upgrade and then there's no difference to the people that stay where they are.

Thing is, the mere existence of the PS4k will very likely lead to future games looking even crappier on the normal PS4 because who cares when it will be optimized to look pretty on at least the PS4k. They are already doing it now with console games and their PC versions. Console games are by now hardly properly optimized anymore when there will also be a PC version. It's even the best incentive for buying a PS4k to make PS4 games look as bad as possible.
Games like The Order or Uncharted 4 look so stunning because they were from the get go optimized to run and look good on console and only one console. This will change too with a PS4k. Uncharted 4 will very likely be the last this pretty game on the regular PS4. :/

The thing is is that surely developers would be smart to focus on the regular PS4 because it will have a larger user base? So they could base their game on the PS4 and then upscale it to the ps4k. Obviously regardless the whole idea of the ps4k is horrible and a shitty thing to do to consumers. But I'm just thinking of the least shitty way it could work out.

No, not really. Because when they develop a game for PS4 and PS4k, the regular PS4 owners will buy the game anyway, no matter if it looks very good...or just good on the PS4 and very good on the PS4k. As a consumer you wouldn't even know if they purposely didn't properly optimize the game for the PS4. Developers would use the same narrative that they are using now: "The current gen consoles just aren't strong enough!" And 95% of the consumers eat that up without question and repeat it themselves. So there probably won't even rise a considerable backlash, calling them out on this.
Also, Sony and Microsoft will definitely urge the developers to make the versions of the new consoles as pretty as possible to sell these consoles and to make people with old consoles switch. In some cases that will mean purposely not properly optimizing the PS4/Xbone versions, which is perfect for developers because it is less time and effort. Just imagine DOA6. It will have to run in 1080p and 60fps as a fighter on PS4 anyway, right? Now, how will they be able to make the PS4k version prettier then? Well, just make the textures just a bit but noticably blurrier, don't implement antialiasing and some other effects and let the PS4k version right as it is. Now just tell the world these sacrifices had to be made because of: "Blahblah, the usual bollocks." and they are off the hook and get the extra bonus from Sony/Microsoft.

Also, leading up to game release, they will only show us the PS4K version, as the prettiest version of the game. Already now you never really know if they are showing you console or PC game footage and there is so much confusion and speculation. This too will get even worse and in the end it will basically be a surprise to the last minute what we get on our old consoles.

But I'm just thinking of the least shitty way it could work out.

They will be shitty, very shitty, so that you want to buy these new machines. :(

I first got into Final Fantasy by playing X and X-2 on PS2 after my cousin gave them to me. Needless to say, I loved them and I purchased the HD Remaster on PS3 and PS4 so I could play the International versions.

X-2 is my favorite FF game so far with X as a close second.

I guess we'll just have to wait and see what happens in the future.

I just recently finished X and X-2 and they really are great games! I'd say I prefer X though if I compared them.
