As many of you know, I have a rather unpopular opinion regarding juggles.

For those of you unaware, they are as follows.
- I do not enjoy doing them or having them done to me, because I personally find it extremely boring to see someone slowly float through the air with little to no effort.

- I understand why others use it for the damage.

- I focus my efforts on gaining damage elsewhere.

- I disapprove of how, due to the perceived relative ease of execution, as well as low risk/high reward nature of juggles, it has caused a mentality in people who play, to only learn juggles, to the exclusion of everything else. As in, many people are completely unable to function outside of said juggles, and there is no incentive to learn or adapt due to the very nature of juggles.

I'm used to people being angry at me for it, so I've learned to usually just say my piece and move on. A little while ago, however, it was brought to my attention that someone was actually creating meme pics to flame me with, and so I stepped in, and things escalated. It was really only two or three people giving me shit, but I'm stubborn and wouldn't back down. Kept going till it was literally just them screaming "Scrub/casual" and me going "ADDRESS THE TOPIC", back and forth. Essentially me getting frustrated that they were just flaming me while refusing to address any of my points. There's a lot more to it than that, but you get the gist. Ya ya, I know, I should have walked away, but I didn't.

But then someone else came in and made a single response that shut ALL the arguing down, and I love them for it. It is as follows.

**********************************************************************************************************

Ughhh...
Everywhere I go is drama I swear to god X_X Guys, please don't cast shade. Like, honestly, it's annoying seeing a fight every day in some FGC community. It's also rince and repeat fights to Person 1: *states an opinion* Person 2 "SCRUB!! CASUALL!!! FAFJSAIFJASF" Like, calm your tits. Let people play the game how they would like to. Each to their own, ahlie? You can't call someone a casual and shit just for playing differently. I mean, I understand that it's common practice in Fighting games to juggle for maximum damage, I do it myself, but not everyone has to, which is what you're not seeing. If Argentus wants to play differently, let him. Why tell him otherwise? Also, from what I've read, you've been shoving this down his throat too I believe? It sounds like if he asked a question about frames, you'd say "juggle more=master skill level". Bottom line is, just let him play how he wants to. If he asks for help, answer the question he is asking and move on. Cause I doubt he is asking for help on juggling. He's not rejecting your help, but it's not what he's looking for.
Now, Argentus, I can see that you have your reasons why you don't juggle as much as everyone says you should, but there's not point trying to prove it to anyone. Just play it how you want to. If you say one thing that goes against what these so called "Pros" say, you'll look like an asshat and be berated by most of the community (Not saying that you are, but this is what you're being treated as for no good reason) Just play the damn game and stop arguing with people and complaining. You've chosen the way you'd like to play and I'm glad for you. I don't think you're a scrub or a casual, but these people obviously think you are. Just play the game how you want to. Don't bother informing people of how you want to play because since it's the FGC, they'll berate you and you'll be labeled a casual until you can prove to them that you're not. *****, you may be good, but that doesn't mean you get to label people casuals. Master is good, yet he doesn't label people. Ahlie? Same with you *******. Except, you're being vile and bullying him. Don't be rude and vile cause it's gonna get you no where. Your rep doesn't go up so don't do it. Rep is really all that matters in the FGC anyway so what's the point in doing this? Just stop guys cause I'm tired of all this bullshit and drama that happens in this community every goddamn day >_> Like, bruh. Just stop.

*****************************************
*********************************************************

The reason why I bring this UP, is its because of people like the ones who were causing trouble, that keep me (and many others) from engaging more in the community. Its people like that, which are the primary reason I am hesitant to go to offline events. I don't want to deal with people harassing me face to face. Its why I've always been hesitant to ask for help, because I became so used to people disregarding what I'm asking, and just saying "stop doing that and do the maxjuggle instead".

What this community needs, is more people like the above, VOCALLY helping others, showing it, helping to repair the fgc's reputation that has been smeared by elitists and flamers. I'm not saying this community doesn't have helpful people, I'm saying they need to become more vocal and prominent. The community needs to become more welcoming and appealing to newcomers.

I continued talking with this person in private more, and they continued helping me with discussions, explanations, etc.

You may think that it doesn't matter, but it really does, because the FGC is, to many outsiders and newcomers, rather known for that "elitist" attitude, which scares a lot of people off, they walk right on by. The vocal minority of people who hate and harass, or are otherwise more confrontational than genuinely helpful, can do a lot of damage. And as I've been told by others involved with other FG communities, DOA has one of the worst. (I'm not really involved in other fgc so I can't comment on that).

I'm sure this won't go over well, but I figured it was at least worth a SHOT to try to address, and I felt it was worth others seeing that response.

((Apologies if I posted this in the wrong place))

I wanted to make a long winded post but i'll just skip to the basic part of it, people really need to grow the fuck up. I've quit this community before due to assholes.

You made a fucking meme of a member in your community. This is about as fucking disgusting as getting called a fucking scrub because you want an infinite banned. We have more then enough fucking problems in this community, let's fucking fix it before we make more.

Also let's talk about why doa isn't going to become an e-sport, because you're a bunch of immature little fucking bitches who fucking makes memes of other members who look to fucking improve.

grow up or shut the fuck up. Tch.

SF4 might be credited with reviving the FGC, but it has caused a greater divide that people do not realize. It's sad when there is in-fighting in a community that is already struggling to begin with. The DOA community has it's negatives, but I overall stick with this community because of how passionate the people are about the game. With that said, we all need to remember that we have a common interest and it is DOA. Petty arguments do not matter, but the game in which we play does. DOA is one of the only two 3D fighting games that is surviving and going to current gen and PC. In order to keep DOA from fading away, we need to step up and speak out against those harrassing players, be it casual or competitive. We all are Fighters and as such, we need to focus on helping each other improve the scene and the game.

We're not the FGC. We're the DoA community. We have a significantly larger, vocal casual portion of our community than some other games have due to the game presentation. Air dashers have a similar situation. Opinions like yours, Argentus, are definitely coming from a more casual perspective, whether you like that label or not. You're not going to be attacked for expressing an opinion, but some may take offense to you trying to present it as anything more than a preference on a competitive community site. I haven't see anyone attack you for it here, but that's not really that important.

Point is, your stance on juggling is tantamount to people complaining that throwing out repeated hadokens in Street Fighter is 'cheap' or 'spamming' and that's going to bring out opposing viewpoints. Pull the same thing in a MvC or Tekken forum and you'll find the same response. This isn't unique to us and you aren't being singled out because this is the DoA community. Don't play the victim. If that's how you believe you should play the game, fine. If you try to level it against someone else and say that you don't like how they play, don't expect anyone to step in to shield you from that.

Honestly the online community is a toxic cesspool and most people know it, having tournament players doing something like that especially on facebook, private messaging the individual on facebook and writing a nasty message is under no circumstance ok and it shows a really bad example for the community.

I personally do not agree with argentus but under no circumstance i will attack an individual over something they do in a video game and go out of my way to publicly shame them. That was enough to "bait" me in order to write that very agitated response.

.... Yea, but anyway.

I've long since learned not to take offense for someone else's misfortune. If I did that, I'd be angry all of the time. More so than I normally am. That would probably be a health concern for me.

Because we know who you are, (your accounts very existence is ban evasion by the way, but you already knew that) and because you're always the center of the vortex.

It gets old.

This is a website for competitive DOA, not drama. Our job is to kill the drama. This thread promotes drama. Do you understand where we are coming from?

Really, I'd like nothing better than for you to just get with the program and stop saying things that are going to universally piss everyone around you off. Alas time has not been very fruitful in this regard, so here we are.

What the hell happened?
Basically, someone went a little too far when giving Argentus advice on improving his gameplay and made it personal by treating him like he's the second coming of DSP on Facebook... when in truth, he's far from that.

Some of the things Argentus says are not only incorrect, but borderline offensive. I can very easily see a person... actually, most people in just about ANY competitive scene attacking him for what he does.

A person does everything in their power to win within the games established rules. This is fair, and is the very core of the intended design behind the fighting game genre. It's how we as players evolve into better players, and make the game more interesting the deeper we go. This is not opinion, it is an established fact.

Not everyone wants to accept that. Argentus struggles with it, while on one hand he wants to win, but on the other hand calls things like juggles "boring", even going so far as to put down his controller and walk away from his opponent during a match. That's disrespectful to an incredible degree, but he does things like this on a regular basis. It's pretty much impossible not to get pissed off at a person like Argentus when he does something like that.

He has trouble because he wants things both ways. He wants the satisfaction of winning, but he wants to play his game and not the one that the rest of us are playing. Hence the disrespectful actions.

So more than likely, somebody tried to help Argentus out, Argentus said or did something offensive, and that person got pissed off enough to start making pictures insulting him.

So while I too, still want to help Argentus, my sympathy is at an all time low.

At this point I'm beginning to believe that Argentus is afraid that he may be labeled to be like "all the other boring/cheap/crappy Mila players" if he does play as the game intends for optimal damage, as opposed to a "casual/scrub" if he doesn't. To an extent, I can understand his frustration, especially with the hatemail he's received when he does try to play the meta as intended. The favoritism/rejection can be discomforting to some aspiring players looking to stand out in a good way amongst a pool of character specialists (especially those considered top/high tier), which is very damn difficult.

Perhaps a small sacrifice such as going to that local (even if he can only go once in a blue moon) may be his only path to reassurance that people won't judge him so harshly as someone just looking to be successful with the character he likes.

That's on him if he pays them any attention. It's not his fault if he's playing the game correctly, Awesmic. Everyone has gotten a hatemail or 2. It's up to you if you entertain them or not.
