I actually made an account just to contribute to P4's development. Been having a main character crisis until she dropped. She's decent but success is extremely dependant on getting the most out of EVERY single hit. Even playing through arcade mode on Normal difficulty I got stomped because of how unsafe she is and just not making the most of each successful hit.

I definitely think we need a dedicated combo thread, I'll be tempted to start one myself if one's not up by this weekend. Finished her combo training last night but some of the combos are way too flashy to use consistently, at least imo, especially the ones which 8K (1st hit) into the aerial teleport (Tenfu???) in the middle of the juggle. Your timing has to be perfect which I don't think a serious match would permit and I think there's other options which are just as good which are much less strict timing-wise. I'll be compiling a list of BNBS over the next week and will contribute anything I find here or to a dedicated thread. Any volunteers???

... j/k I wouldn't even know where to start. I use MS Word and just put everything into charts and tables. It's organized but don't think it'd work well in a forum post.

Honestly I find it's the best format for combos, otherwise you end up with a massive laundry list, i.e.

8K launch combos
hit 1 hit 2 8K juggle combo.... vs. light characters,
" " " " " " " vs. medium characters

and so on for each character weight, launcher, etc., and when you factor in the different variations for each level of stun it gets MASSIVE! If you wanna divvy up the workload lemme know, I started with combos vs. light characters which I wrote down from the combo training. I plan to expand on those first, figure out what goes together and then move on to Medium/heavy/super heavy etc. Then there's environment combos and level specific stuff too.

This might be because I mainly use stick to play fighting games.. but I find her to be quite easy to use on stick than pad (I use pad with Pai only, don't ask me why..).

I'm the same actually, the pad feels so much more clunky and clumsy to me. Out of curiosity do you use a macro for P+K and P4's teleports? My hand was cramping a lot from inputting P+K-K and P+K-P in rapid succession during the combo challenge last night. Kind of an unusual movement so it'll take some time to get used it I guess.

Here's a new BnB i found with Phase'4 on her :2::3::6::h::+::P: throw. This does 1 more point than the usual air throw but it is a lot harder to do consecutively: SKIP TO 0:14

No macro. I thought about it, but eh.. the only macro I use is H+P+K honestly on R2 for dodging.

Edit: Also, I have sanwa buttons so I hit the buttons pretty softly in a natural way, that way my hand always feels relaxed when I play, and also I kicked mashing habits long ago. (I double tap inputs sometimes if timing allows.)

I think, for me personally, using her teleport cancels in small bursts are better than trying to set up elaborate combos. If you make a mistake or get blocked wrong, then you get punished very harshly.

That's cool! Kinda hard to hit, but I feel this is necessary to maximize P4. At some point, we ALL must learn to tele.

Modded all my sticks with Sanwa, only way to go. I think I have a habit of pressing too hard when I hit 2 or more buttons at once, otherwise I feel like I'll mess up the input. I'll try being more relaxed when I practice tonight, thx.

I somewhat agree, I think the timing of certain combinations are more fundamental to her game than others, i.e. 4K launcher into CF K into TF P/K. The timing for this is ALWAYS the same and I think can be mastered with practice to a point where the execution is very consistent.

Other strings I feel are much more gimmicky, i.e. P6P into CF. The timing for the TELE feels counter intuitive and for whatever reason if you rapid fire the P+K -> P or K commands the P or K doesn't come out. It's the only teleport activation I've seen where you have to delay the P or K command and I struggled with that particular combo challenge. Even after a few hours in training last nite I'm confident I can do this consistently already.

With time I think P4 players will have to weed out the more awkward CF/TF activations, P6P and 8K I feel are awkward with very strict timing doesn't justify their use (maybe that just me) and more solid options where the timing is very consistent and can be perfected with practice.

even though its harder to do and does 2 points less im think im going to stick with 4k(p+k) ->k(p+k)->h+p

because even though 4k,6pk(p+k)->h+p is technically better, it just doesn't look as cool lol

No problem. Just relax, her teleport windows aren't as harsh as it seems really. Take your time and get the rhythm down or look for timing in her grunts.

Good stuff man, I'm gonna focus on the basic launchers, 33P, 4K, 8K, 33K and 3P+K K on various levels of stun against different weight classes, and the 236T and 1T grabs vs. different weight classes.

I'm also interested in PL combos, would love to see what you come up with.

I agree, no way is it harder than basic SF4 links. Literally, the only hard thing about her is the teleport timing.. she's not that hard to use. I'd say Akira is as hard, if not harder than 1-frame links.
