So it looks like we've seen two win poses but we haven't seen these two ^^^ (assuming these are win poses)

Good analysis, @GreatDarkHero! It seems like she will deal well against zoning strategies as she practically strides at her opponent... her pressure options look like they could be pretty intense based off what I see... but how do you think she will stack up against others? Neutral game also looks like it could be very promising to me.

To the zoning comment. Yes and no, characters like Ayane and Hayate will go right underneath the fan with 1P+K and 4P+K, respectively. Both put both characters in a crouch state with strong and safe follow ups. These will make zoning even in these match ups as Mai cannot just throw a fan at them and move forward for free.

Just as well if Ayane is already back turned she can crouch while BT and has plenty of safe or advantageous moves (on block) to keep you out. The rule of thumb of Ayane is; Anything that does no damage to you or doesn't touch you, but is time consuming works in your favor.

I guess they thought if the fan was a mid that it would be too good. I guess that makes sense.

A few other things I noticed.

Her jab seems to have a good amount of range for a 9 framer, not as good as tengus but a lot faster.

Her uncharged PB is her old blowback, and it seems to create a lot of distance on block, it also has a good amount of range. So it seems like it'd be a good spacing tool, and when you have PB active it just becomes that much better.

She has a crap ton of fast crushing moves, be them high or low crushes.

Kagerou no Mai seems to have invincibilty! This'll be crazy if true, lol using it on wakeup kicks.

236K cartwheel on hit, follow it up with her fan for oki. Pretty sure that if they tech up, they may have to block it or whatever. It'll tell players you cannot mash after tech roll and they are forced to stay still for the moment. If they don't tech roll then it doesn't matter, you have your space.

It's just a theory but I feel like that'll be a thing.

I still haven't completely watched the video yet, but you think if Mai is given enough space, she can actually outrun her Kachousen? Because if that's the case, that's some real hardcore shenanigans right there.

That'll have to be full screen distance if you try that, from what I see in the video, you cannot run behind the fan at all. Players were at foostie, medium and long ranges while throwing it.

Holy... Mai looks really gorgeous in this game.
0:09 So, Mai actually can perform a variation of her DP+K from KOF98.
That elbow strike looks like something from her Hissatsu Shinobi Bachi, but
she just rushes in, causing a stun state. I can already that being utilized as
a whiff punish a lot. It stuns on regular hit. It also might be unsafe on block
and the players from Team Ninja seem to be use her DP+K move after it (I don't know if they
are canceling that elbow strike or if that move is actually a part of the string).
0:20 Mai's close C is manifested here! Mai's far D (or rather, her far
standing heavy kick from CVS2) is also shown her and it apparently stuns.
0:49 Uh oh... ... Heh, heh, heh...! KACHOUSEN! KACHOUSEN! So the projectile
actually remains. Somebody out there is going to complain about Mai being able to
use this here. I smell a potential scrub-killer here. @d3v is going to have a lot of fun
with this one. It even stuns on counter hit!

Wooo, she looks so majestic while using her Ryuuenbuu! A sight to be behold.
Mai's cr.D animation from previous KOF games is present. 1:43 Interesting string! Looks as
if she is perform a jab into her st.B~st.D target combo. That st.B~st.D target combo appears
to be based on how it was in XIII. I suspect that Mai's Ryuuenbuu has tracking properties.
2:14 Kagero no Mai. I want to believe that P1 Mai was not close enough for the
string to hit her out of it. It would be crazy if Mai had actual invincibility on startup from that
move like she does in her previous game.
The Kachousen is a high. The other player will be crouch it. 5:20 She has
her back throw from previous KOF/Fatal Fury games. She is also apparently able to
perform jumps, as demostrated in a previous Mai showcase, much earlier on. It looked as
if she was perform her jumping B (it would be diabolical if it could also cross up as well).
5:28 = Looks like a pretty combo when carrying the opponent towards the wall.
5:44 = Low seems to have quite a bit of reach.

Even in these more generic costumes, Mai still looks really stunning.
As stated before, Mai has her f+B from KOF98. That hopping front kick attack.
It is a mid kick and it will end up causing a sit-down stun. Oh, we have
wall combos! Impressive!
6:05 I don't think I've ever seen that throw before.
6:39 Mai used some sort of SS move (probably SS+P) to stun the opponent and then
she canceled that into her Kagero no Mai.
Ryuuenbuu is also apparently useful in wall juggles as well.
7:25 I never seen that either. That looks completely new altogether.
Mai in the bunny outfit, though. <3
9:29 Oh my goodness, that was beautiful. And, that's a low hold. A double
Ryuuenbuu.
9:38 That's actually her C throw from the KOF games.
The Kachousen can actually be side walked as well. The pay off of having such
a projectile in DOA. Mai would still make Genra (Omega) happy as fuck though.
@DestructionBomb wins again :D.
10:22 I think I just saw Kagero no Mai get Side Stepped.
11:34 <3 <3 <3

Happy as fuck right now.
Yay zoning.

Something which anyone who's seen my KOFXIV team of Frieza/Bird Jesus/Level 3 X-Factor Fireballs (Athena/Nak/King) shouldn't be surprised I enjoy.

I'll probably be the only one within these forums to add Geese's theme for Mai vs Akira.

I mean seriously people, this is literally the first game where a KOF character meets a VF character including the DOA characters. Team NINJA has done something that is extremely rare. Props once more.

Finally watched the video from start to finish and it's exactly what I talked about earlier:

Mai can zone VERY well as her Kachousen moves pretty quickly unlike the other projectiles in the game(which usually have obvious charge times to make it easier to dodge/block). Her Ryuenbu is a good combo ender to make Mai safe, but I'm pretty sure it can be countered if spammed too much so that counteracts the safeness of the move. Kagero No Mai(I know I messed up the first name) seems to actually give Mai on some level I-Frames...or give the flames a pretty big hitbox as I've seen the other Mai get knocked back when she tried to attack but can be countered to give the opponent free I-Frames and capitalized.

Her attacks also give her some very deceptive timings on top of that(her "infamous" low kick is actually VERY slow in comparison to the rest of her attacks) and she works pretty well at zoning and spacing too.

I may not be the best in terms knowing how frame data and spacing really works but I'm trying my best here lol.

She used that kind of a mixed attack in SvC Chaos

Looks like it's Ukihane but as a throw.

That's her SDM in Real Bout Special, Kuuchuu Gekka Botan. She also had this DM in NGBC and KOF XI when she was released as bonus character for console versions (KOF XI was first and only KOF she officially missed).

That was really surprising. They used her MI2 version of Ryuenbu, which you could continue it with a second flame, as a Hold. Clever and very nice.

It's weird she hasn't her XIII/XIV C+D blowback move. Right now is one of her best tools in KOF.

Mai's face looks like a mix between Ayane and Momiji ^^

Btw, just a stupid fanservice detail, I do totally love her portrait face in selection character screen :O So fierce and beautiful!

Her cheerleader outfit is new main outfit for me, I love that she wears heels with it. The bunny one I'll have to see because there's variations of the heels and the ones that comes with her variation is garbage.

A little fun fact: In Art of Fighting (and some KOF games like 94 and XIII for example), King and Yuri are the only characters that get a costume break if you KO them with a special or a DM.

Still very curious about her interactions with others characters... if she has any.
I also liked a lot of the wall combos that were utilized in that video demonstration. I also want to see what her Cliff Hanger move will consist of. I'd like to think of Mai performing a form of her Climax from KOFXIV and perhaps another glorified version of her Ukihane into a completely new move. Something along those lines.
