MCV released an article this week interviewing Yosuke Hayashi and Yohei Shimbori on their thoughts and reasons in regard to Dead or Alive 5 Last Round, including the team's first attempt at releasing a PC version.

Now me personally, I think most of his fear is the game getting over-populated with nude and sex modifications. I don't think he's as worried about general modifications or tasteful mods, but he does have a reason to be concerned. He is also probably worried about people getting around their costume DLC which helps fund not only the development studio but also finds its way to our competitive scene and support. I think we as a community should attempt to take the high ground and not promote "nude hacks" or methods to get around the DLC content. At least in the regard of Free Step Dodge, we won't tolerate threads sharing such information or content.

Asked why the series has waited almost two decades to make the move, Shimbori highlights the growing acceptance of PC as a mainstream platform.
“The adoption rate of high-spec PCs and related peripheral devices has traditionally been lower than consoles,” he comments. “But these days, the perspective of PC gaming has changed drastically and we expect more fighting games will be released for PC users.”
Despite this, he warns that one of the PC’s most active scenes – the modding community – should be careful not to turn off publishers looking to make their debut.
“We have to deal with mod issues from an IP holder perspective,” he explains.
“We would like to ask PC users to play our game in good moral and manner. Otherwise, we won’t be able to release a title for PC again.”
