im trying to blast my way through Peacewalker while figuring out what i can ignore. a lot of stuff is for postgame online i believe and is just taking up time. god i wish this game had at least one decent villian, but there really hasn't been a good new villain or boss introduced in a long time for this series. the latest bosses have been so utterly bland that they can be described with just one emotion.

Final boss in PW is alright (true final boss as well as the "main final boss"). My favorite of the two is the one I initially thought was the final boss just because of the sheer amount of tension it had building up to and what happens after it.
Trying not to give spoilers because it actually is a good plot near the end of the Main Ops.

As for going through just stick to the main ops. Side ops gets you some neat gear and higher difficulty vehicle fights that you can use to snag some high level troops for Mother Base. The story is doable with slightly upgraded weapons but upgrade them as often as you are able so long as you are using the Fulton, makes a lot of boss fights considerably easier.

The Phantom Pain is basically the sequel (or the third act considering Ground Zeroes as a separate game) of the story started with Peace Walker, so without doubt the first chapter will be important for fully realizing the plot and the message of it.

I suppose that originally in Kojima's mind the reasons for Big Boss' turn to the "dark side" setted in Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2 had to be fulfilled from MGS3: when he realized PW he had already decided to start his last chronicle that it would have got an ending with MGSV. It's anyway worthy of supposition that some details could have been told or expanded through the original concept of the later "Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance", considering that the first idea of Kojima was to create an action game with Gray Fox as main character.

Skull Face seems cool, and apparently MGSV has one of the best sniper boss battles ever. But as with a few bosses its possible to never even see the boss in your play through. As with some Support Buddies like DD.

Um not reading or watching anything because I want no spoilers but I am so excited.

I preordered the game for ps4. I don't have a ps4 but I'm putting money towards a destiny bundle. I'm gonna sell destiny immediately but whatever.

So I'm slowly paying off mgsv and a ps4, I won't be able to play it at launch but I'm still hype as fuck.

Also preordered digimon for ps4 while I was at it lol.

Hope I can check this out, kinda feel strange though considering the only game I've played in the series was Rising though, and some of 1, never finished it.

Now that I have the game, I can safely say this is probably the best Metal Gear ever.

And is so close to replacing MGS2 as my favourite.

my biggest worry is that its not going to feel like metal gear as its basically an improved Peace Walker. the situational and organic codecs, tense atmosphere that you cant escape from, and the fact you were very limited in MGS1-3 made finding new gear so cool and rewarding. Peace Walker really did away with a lot of that.

Trust me, MGSV has alot of tense atmosphere, even when you're just travelling from point A - point B in the open world. You always have this danger of running into soldiers walking on the road, driving trucks/jeeps or even guard outposts.

And these guys have like 20/20 vision, they can spot you from a mile away. Also, you find various diamonds and resources in outposts and forts that its really rewarding to explore enemy territory in your free time or during a mission.

The story isn't saying "fuck you" and "I love you" ala MGS4 is it? I don't think I can endure another game like that one. Also is there an "game over if discovered" option like there is in the older games?

Nah I mean making a bunch of callbacks with the intention of either insulting, pissing off or depressing you for liking a past game that was better, then trying to mask it with cool moments(like driving an actual metal gear). Overlong cutscens are fine IMO if they are cool.

Oh not really, so far its only called back to GZ however MGSV does have Eli, Young Mantis and a sneaking suit based on the MGS1 sneaking suit but its not trying to recreate them.

Besides MGSV is actually really good, gameplay wise its definitely the best, its like if Peace Walker didn't have horrible gameplay and was open world.

So the redhead IS Mantis.

Next I want to confirm..
The cylindrical object in one of the trailers to be Peace Walkers AI core or possibly Zeke's AI core. Leaning more towards PW and it gets re-purposed into becoming Sehalanthropus' core.

Great game, but honestly it doesn't feel like metal gear to me. a large part of the series was having conversations with intersting characters and there doesn't seem to be anyone like that here.

You basically have Miller and Ocelot, as Snake seems to have absolutely no opinion on anything, and all their codecs basically have me wondering who the hell is talking right now. I don't see anything really distinct in their voices or personality. They're all basically the same guy I swear.
