If you want to here Snake talk, listen to the tapes. MGSV works alot like PW, where codec calls are real time advice rather then full conversations.

If anything you should blame people complaining MGS4 had too many codec cutscenes, Kojima stopped making them after 4 and instead had the codec be advice/updates from Miller.

I miss the old codec conversations =/, MGSV is a good game, I've played for ten hours but I'm already bored, I think I'll rush it to the end to get back to Witcher III, lol.

I am talking about the tapes. you know Big Boss has said so little in this game I have no clue what his motivation is besides doing everything Miller commands him to. he has no personality.

i hate to say this but this game is basically like Destiny. great core mechanics, bare bones everything else. I feel like I should be able to do more at my base than just abuse everyone and get my ass kissed for doing so.

I came to cry out loud
I hate UPS/USPS! My game is still in the mail. And according to the tracking, after not moving for 3 days, it is heading away from me towards the east coast... And Monday is a holiday :( FML

Technically there is, you can look around for diamonds, target practice(both provide extra GMP) andin Medical Platform there's something else if you explore.

It starts to open up after Mission 10. Things begin to get interesting.

As for Codec calls, it definitely is the Peace Walker route where you have to play the cassettes to get some real back story and information. If the game were to follow the old Codec upon getting to the new Mother Base you would learn what happened to Amanda, Strangelove, Chico, and the rest of the Mother Base survivors immediately instead of having to unlock the tapes and listen to them, cutscenes about what happened to characters in the past 9 years would all be over 5 minutes long, you would have full viewing privileges to some interrogations, the game would be se3veral hours longer if everything were to be the old system. This new system matches with the open world portion and gives you plenty of time to listen to tapes while traveling around. Hell, you can pause them and keep playing. This method allows you as the player to play the game while listening to the back story, particularly when you have to travel a couple kilometers at once. I just got to Mission 14 at 17 hours (after doing as many side ops as I can) and I've had a blast with the game.

I do have one question I want to get cleared up. In the beginning we had to make that avatar as Boss' alteration, does everybody else in game see Boss with that appearance and we, as the audience, see him for who he really is? When rescuing Miller the helicopter pilot calls him by his new codename,
Huey doesn't recognize him until Boss says something, and the Mammal Pod says "Oh, not Snake"
That's as far as I've gotten so far but it seems to me that the avatar will hopefully be included somehow into MGO3 instead of that beginning of game thing you do for the sake of saying "People want you dead, I did this to help you."

My understanding is that MGO3 will be available October 6th.

Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if Kojima pulled something like that, especially after finding out that if you go to the Medical Unit on Mother Base
You find out that Paz actually survived on some BS

that's is not worth traveling this oversized behemoth not even close. GMP has never been an issue it's literally everything else.

Well you have to go back at some times, if you don't snake gets blodied up/dirty and then snake is easier to spot/mobility will decrease, plus if you don't go too often buddies like DD and Quiet won't develop and Morale will decrease causing soldiers to leave.

That thing with Quiet near the end is the stupidest fucking thing I've ever seen in a game, ever.

They better patch her back in

There's a lot of other gripes I have with the game, like FOBs, spoilery credits, guard subtitles drowning out tapes, too many tanks, THE ENDING, etc.

But at least it's pretty to look at it, and it controls nice.

Don't even get me started on the broken FOBs

Just discovered that playing any cassette in the ACC will make DD bark.

Just completed Main Op 31, called who the Man on Fire was correctly (after I got a full body viewing of him it was kind of obvious), and I see it goes the Peace Walker route via taking Boss fights and key levels and upping them to 11 (a la the Custom Models of Armored Vehicles and the AI weapons). Very impressed with the philosophy behind the story but it could have been fleshed out a little bit more.

After listening to a bunch of cassettes about the parasites it seems like they want the Cobra Units abilities to be explained as parasites and just use that to lead into Nano machines.

Waiting on MGO and completing the remaining missions in the mean time.

Took some time but I finally was able to play some matches. Still too early to tell though I do understand in Team Sneak (Cloak and Dagger) both teams can stealth...
