I just want to be that guy and say that we should keep our expectations low regarding the new character. Usually, with this community especially, we tend to dismiss new characters introduced based off their appearance (or gender). However, people then change their tune once they get pass the appearance and actually play with said character. I remember when Marie Rose was first introduced and the backlash she got. Now she's one of the most popular DLC characters introduced in the franchise thus far. Whatever Team Ninja comes up with, I will reserve my judgment until I can actually get my hands on the new character.

nobody ever said Marie wasn't going to be a fun character a lot were just uncomfortable with her design, and that never changed by actually getting to play her. most people still feel the same as they did back then but just arent as vocal about it.

If Yaiba actually took off to be a good game/became popular, the developers didn't all split , and we didn't already have promotion dlc from that game from over a year ago [would have been the perfect time to introduce a character from that game] then anybody from that doomed series could have had a reliable chance. Doesn't help that KT/TN likely planned for this character at least for the past several months before they even announced it was coming to the public.

I'm assuming he just wants it and not expects it. Sucks since I wouldn't have minded cameo Yaiba since he is the antithesis of Hayabusa.
