I think he's referring to the ripping textures rather than the actual design, the design itself looks awesome

Don't you think it looks a bit blurry?

Yeah the print is fine @Tyaren !

Again, you don't really notice all the flaws during the fight, so there is no need to worry.
I have the same feeling with Helena's beige chinese dress which I find a bit rubbery and not as good and silky as in DOA2U. It looks okay in motion though.

"rubbery" is a fun word...

But yeah, lol, the harder modern games try to make things look more "realistic", the more it usually backfires. Thats why when early current gens started, like Perfect Dark Zero, everything was downright marinated in spec and bump maps, so it looked like the entire game was laminated.

Sometimes less is more, especially with costumes. Not everything needs to be shiny.

But Tyarens outfit looks good, frayed edges aside.

Not nearly as bad as the fur and tails on Brad/Leon's Werewolf forms though. That shit's just horrendous lol.

Haha. What would be the best way to describe it ? I cannot find a better word.

You know, the same texture as these boots when it's raining.

I've noticed this for a while, it's like the more realistic things /try/ to get the more obvious it's not real(at least in terms of animals, humans, etc.) Like there's been tons of games I've seen where I'm like "Wow, the graphics are amazing, I can't even tell it's a game!" right up until I see a human or an animal that tries SO hard to look real but is just not. Even when they use CGI to reverse age an actor in a movie, it's almost never believable looking.

Team NINJA posted Momiji's poster picture, one of the predicted ones even if not in the order that I thought (I believe that we would have seen an eventual poster for Nyotengu before):

It's just the dim lighting in the stage I think b/c if you look at previous vids the outfit and textures look great. I just wish they would finally fix the bad clipping though. :/

Most of the DOA costumes are a clipping fest and the latest Halloween DLC was the Oktoberfest of all clipping fests! XD I think, Eliot's kilt behaves rather tame compared to that. During a fight I can hardly notice any clippings. Only if you watch at it frame by frame it sometimes looks a little wonky. I, by the way, really like, that he has hardly any upskirt moments. (Yeah, I know some are disappointed by that XD) TN did a good job on that.

Do you like that? Why? To me it looks odd and unnatural that the skirt seems to be tied to Eliot's legs. That would me my only complain. A skirt needs to move like a skirt, not like a pants.

They really didn't. It's only a kilt if he's standing still. As soon as he moves his legs it splits into 2 halves each attached to one leg with an extremely awkward and noticeable line in the middle (0:40, i.e. turns into pants that's clipping themselves). I doubt the thing even has any bones on it. It could be due to performance issues, it could be, uh, moral issues, but skirts/dresses without physics are the devil and shouldn't be allowed to exist.

At no point does it turn into pants/two halves. o__O' Here some other videos of the kilt in action:

Yeah, it's pretty rigid. But I've seen much worse. And that's me saying this. XD Forumers in here now how anal I'm about graphics and stuff.

I think, it is both. They wanted to give him as few upskirt moments as possible (kilts are also made of pretty sturdy cloth, that doesn't flip up all the time, also the hoodie holds it down) and they probably wanted to keep the clipping at a minimum... and last but not least spare some polygons for the girls. ;)

Do you like that?
Yep, even though I designed his boxer shorts (as a little dig at DOA's notorious female sexualization), I actually didn't want Eliot to bare his boxers all the time in the game. That's why I also tied the hoodie around his waist, holding everything down.

Sorry but this sounds a bit sexist to me :p A kilt is a kilt, it doesn't matter if it's a guy or a girl who is wearing it. I mean, in DOA all women wearing skirts or kilts show their underwear again and again, because their skirts have been done with a physics that allow that. Change that physics in your Eliot's kilt because he's a dude it's a bit nonsense to me and a bit sexist. I'm not willing to see Eliot's underwear, but it looks odd in motion, and the videos you posted proves it enough I think. But oh well, your design is great :) Is just a minor detail on how your design has been applied in-game.

We all know, that DOA is sexist! XD I mean, the developers publicly ogle at Nyotengu's squishy breasts, giggling like little boys. ;)

I think, it would not be impossible, but really difficult to program the rather long kilt, the hoodie above it and Eliot's wild leg movements with perfect collision and animations. (Have you seen Leifang's plaid skirt in action? Horrible clipping! XD) The developers have probably more important issues to take care of, than spending many hours and resources on Eliot's perfectly moving kilt...like perfecting the squishiness of Nyotengu's breasts. ;)

Yeah kilts don't blow around as much as skirts so It does make sense. Also does eliot still actually have the union jack underwear.
