I think that's just also a result of not knowing what the easy and hard characters are, haha. I started with Helena, but in Ultimate I played Rachel and Momiji since release. They were easy as shit to learn then.

So what it comes down to, pick Rachel as your first character because she's easy and mad sexy.

I dunno man, I mean this is pretty waifu right here:

But yeah, they're both pretty darn beginner friendly lol.

But as veterans do you guys have several characters at your disposal? I mean it takes a lot of effort to just master one right

Yes, but don't learn multiple characters at first. It's an awful mistake that relatively novice players make is learning too many characters at once.

We've learned multiple characters for a couple reasons; we've essentially learned our mains inside out, and we've dabbled with other characters for Match-Up knowledge purposes. I looked up Momiji & Rachel to see how they function and I ended up subbing them lol.

Learning multiple characters is not a requirement for anyone. Character specialists like Master exist, and then there are those like Crazysteady who can use everyone. I personally prefer to keep it to 2 or 3 depending on the game. Now looking up a particular characters strings and such to know what their options are is useful for sure, but you don't have to learn that character or anything.

I see...but of course that is not what I plan to do haha. I mean I haven't tried ALL the characters yet and the only reason I chose hitomi is because she is beginner friendly, and she is also the tutorial girl and I feel comfortable with her. Because of that I will never try the other girls, and see if I like them. Why again? Cos the rest are not as beginner friendly and I will die trying to master them. That's the sort of dilemma I am feeling now haha

That's just Raansu, he thinks Hitomi is bottom tier for some reason. One thing he likes to bring up is slow escaping her low sweeps to -1 when no one will be doing that on reaction.

She's fine, I use her myself.

In comparison to the rest of the cast, if Ein and Hitomi aren't "beginner" characters because it's challenging to win with them at a high level, then no character would qualify as a "beginner character" hypothetically. No character is easy to win with at a high level and requires work.

Trust me, Hitomi's the best beginner character. If you would like any assistance with her, I could help you out!

Ah thanks for all the feedback clearing my doubts about using her haha. Nice to see some help too. I guess I will stick to her since my heart chose her xD
Oh by the way, I don't really get what people meant by +5 or -1. Is it something about frame data

Marie Rose is 18... officially xD

If you like Hitomi as character and/or fighting style (without passion there is no way to get motivation to improve or getting fun playing), I heavily suggest you to start with her, to acquire a good knowledge of her and the overall game mechanics and just later decide to learn eventually others. It's true that Marie is not the most complex character of the game, and I agree that someone with an average knoelwedge of her can be a pain in the backside for other players (especially against someone that has no experience with her), but she is definitely less immediate to use compared to someone much more simple as Hitomi.
